Govinda Bahadur Malla (Nepali: गोविन्दबहादुर मल्ल 'गोठाले') popularly known as 'Gothale' is one of the prominent figure in Nepali literature. He started his writing career by writing a poem "Mamata" which was published in 1992 B.S. He gave a new dimension to story writing in Nepal by adding psychoanalytical study of the characters. He is one of the prominent figure in short story writing. He served as the first editor of Awaj daily and later as an editor of Sarada, a literary magazine run by his family. He was also a member of Royal Nepal Academy. His popular works are Pallo Ghar Ko Jhyal, Kathai Katha, Chyatiyeko Parda, Bhoko Ghar etc.

we humans love chaos … even if we are having and living a normal and happy life ; we go and look for chaos and find whatever that destroys us..
we humans are destructive by nature ..

आकारमा सानो तर चोटिलो पुस्तक छ 'पल्लो घरको झ्याल'। यसको दृश्य खास फराकिलो छैन। मुख्य पात्र 'मिसरी' को माइती र घरको परिवेशमाझ रङमङिएको छ कथा। आफ्नो अस्थिर वैवाहिक जीवन र पल्लो घरको झ्यालबाट हेरिरहने गुन्डोबीच बाँडिएको मिसरीको मनोभावलाई मजासँग खेलाउनुभएको छ 'गोठाले' ले। नारीलाई बन्देजको घेरामा थुनि राख्ने समाजको त्यो कालखण्डमा आफूमाथि परपुरुषको नजर परेको, अझ प्रेम प्रस्तावको चिठीसमेत आउँदा मिसरी जुन मानसिक द्वन्द्वबाट गुज्रिन्छे त्यो सर्वमान्य छ। उसको वरिपरि रुमलिने अन्य नारी पात्रको पनि प्रतिनिधित्व गर्छे मिसरीले। मिसरीसँगै पाठकको मस्तिष्कसँग पनि खेलिरहेको छ यसको कथा। 'उसको पोइ छ, पोइको घर छ।' जस्तो वाक्य कुनै गहिरो इनारबाट प्रतिध्वनित भएझैँ कानमा गुञ्जिरहन्छ। उसको पोइको निर्धो आँखाप्रति पाठकको मनमा दया भाव उम्रिन्छ। सुस्त गतिमा हिँडिरहेको यो कथाले बिस्तारै पोल्दै जान्छ। निर्णयको दोबाटोमा उभिरहेकी मिसरीको अवचेतन मस्तिष्कले सुनाउने निर्णयप्रति ऊ त्यति नै अनभिज्ञ छे जति पाठक छ।

Never thought I'll ever enjoy repetitive words/sentences in a book, but I loved how those words created that eerie environment in this book. Well written and beautifully describes the emotional ups and downs of our main protagonist.
As an overthinker, I could actually relate to the protagonist in some places😅

धेरै अघि हात परेको किताब हो । पढे नपढेकै पक्का नभएपछि युट्युबको श्रव्य संस्करण सुने । मिश्रीको पट्यार लाग्दो वैवाहिक जीवन र उस्लाई विथोल्न आएको काजीमानको कथा समेटेको यो लघु उपन्यासले नारी मनोविज्ञान समेटेको छ । त्यो कत्तिको सत्यसंग नजिक छ या सफल रुपमा चित्रित छ भन्ने कुरा भन्ने योग्यता मसंग छैन । तर जे होस् लेखाइ रोचक छ । झिनो कथामा अलिकति समाज र अलिकति सम्बन्ध अटेको छ । २ घण्टा ११ मिनेटमा पढिएको ९४ पानाहरु रचना काल समेतलाई ध्यानमा दिंदा श्रवण/पठन योग्य नै छ भनौं ।

The book was pretty good. It is set in democratic Nepal in 1960s and captures elements of day to day life in Kathmandu. The protagonist is a young married woman who gets infatuated with a flashy young man and has to make a choice between her love interest or everything else (husband,family,etc). The author navigates beautifully describes the psychological ups and downs the protagonists undergoes as she makes her choice. I felt the novel was a bit stretched at the end perhaps but it is a good read.

अत्यन्तै मिहिन ढंगले एक स्त्रीको मनोबिज्ञान प्रस्तुत गरिएको यो लघुउपन्यास साच्चै नै उत्कृष्ट छ।
