It started with a wish…

Juno
You make one innocent wish for a monstrous co-writer to help spice up your bland stories, and BAM - in waltzes the growly demon of your literal dreams.

Unfortunately, rather than living happily ever after in our very own paranormal paradise, a sinister society wants a piece of us and they won’t stop until they get it.

We’re gonna have to fight for our everlasting love story. Because what’s about to happen is much, much stranger than fiction.

Faal
For eons I’ve traversed the vast wilderness of the universe, trying to find the thrill which would finally ignite my very soul.

The last thing I ever expected to find was her but she called to me and I was helpless to resist my mate’s call.

She thought she’d wished for just a demon co-writer; My delicious human thought wrong…

However, before we could truly forge our union, we’re targeted for our unique bond.

I won’t let them have her. She’s mine and I will protect her from all the dangers of this world.

****

Once Upon a Demon is book one of the My Monstrous Mate series and is a fast burn, fated mates story, with grumpy / sunshine vibes.

Please do note though: This is NOT a true story.

GH has been an ardent book lover her whole life and, at age nine, boldly claimed that she would be a famous author before turning thirty.

Although a little late, she pursues her childhood dream of becoming an author with adventures in the world of paranormal romance, and the fierce Horsewomen of the Apocalypse.

She lives on the South coast of England with her family, three floofy co-writers and an apparently-immortal leopard gecko called Cyril.

GH loves to connect with fellow bookworms and can generally be found online chatting about all things books and unicorns.

Juno is a struggling Paranormal romance author, who wishes for a co-writing Demon, one that knows their way around a vulva.
Becareful what you wish for, you never know who's listening 🤫

Juno & Faal's story was totally different from anything I have ever read before, complete fantasy but still had the 'but it could happen' feeling.
Faal is every women's dream, totally besotted by his love for Juno, he will do anything for her, be anything she needs, sacrifice everything to keep her safe.

Another fantastic book from a truly unique writer. Connecting her books in the most delicate way. Even so much as giving her horsewomen a trait from Juno herself.

Absolutely cannot wait for Maeve & Dax's story. Nothing beats a possessive Vampire romance.

“I had the distinct impression that the primordial demon hitching a ride in my cranium was sulking about this date with Myles.”

When I read this line, I immediately knew two things:

1. This has GH Brookhorn sass and humour all over it
2. I’m in for a rollicking good time with this book

“Once Upon a Demon” is a paranormal romance about an author – Juno - who wishes for a demon co-writer. Her wish becomes true, and she gets a co-writer and her own love story when Faal becomes her muse and her mate.

I love this book! It’s paranormal romance laced with suspense and filled to the brim with GH Brookhorn sass, sizzle and snark of her characters. I also love the little easter egg of her other series, “The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse” – another great read. Which, if you haven’t read yet – Why?! For the love of sweet baby demons, get on it after this one!

Can't wait for the next book in this delicious series.

I loved the premise of this book… a struggling author wishes for a demon to be her muse and then one actually shows up! It seems like the perfect solution until Juno and Faal run into some other demons. I love this author’s writing style, which is full of snarky humor and spicy scenes! So good! ❤️

:(
the premise of this book was so interesting, however the book itself just did not meet my expectations in the way I wanted it to (selfish, I know). I don't know if it was that I'm unfamiliar with the slang, (I am American and this book is written in British English) but at times I found Juno to just be a whiny and childish FMC. I get that your life was torn upside down, but I found myself rolling my eyes more often than not. I get the shadow government subplot, but I was expecting (based on the excerpt, anyway) it to be more them on the run from them, over the back and forth with kidnapping. The ending for me also left much to be desired, as there is one final little "plot twist".......that happens about 13 pages before the end of the book and is swiftly resolved and brushed under the rug as the rest of the book passes by in almost an epilogue of catching us up on what happens after that event with no real specifics. Faal was precious and poor thing did his best, and honestly Juno STOP YELLING AT HIM HES JUST A BABY :'(

Overall I really wanted to like this book but it just didn't connect for me, however I wouldn't want my opinions to dissuade anyone else from reading it as it may click with someone else!

Juno is a writer in search for inspiration when she wishes for a co-writer and ends up with Fall, a demon wandering through the universe looking for adventures.
They start living the best muse/artist relationship until they find out that there is an organization studying humans that share their bodies with demons.
The Organization takes a hold on them and try to break them apart, Juno and Faal will have to fight for their happily ever after, while stopping once in a while for a lot of steam.

The characters are almost too horny to function. The prose is lighthearted and humorous, and the spicy scenes kinda get in the way of plot and true connection at times. The book doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the characters take down an evil shadow organization basically single-handedly.

Ohhh this was so good! An actual monster romance / romantic suspense crossover! Loved the banter between Juno and Faal, loved the premise, the spice, the tension, loved the whole thing. Looking forward to the next one!

You wish for something you never thought was possible and it turns into reality!

That's exactly what happened with Juno here.. she wished for the existence of Demons to spice up her bland and beige life.. and conjured herself her One, Faal, her Midnight Blue Monster Mate from across the universes! And with his arrival came other things, and for the first time, she could witness the truth of her own world, and the creatures dwelling within!

I found this topic kinda interesting, an author wishing for a demon co-writer and that turning into reality along with all the other action and romance! It's a fast-paced instalove and I quite enjoyed reading it! Looking forward to reading the next PNR book (vampire themed) in the series!

Tropes:
•Fated mates
•Touch her and die
•Posessive and protective demon
•Forked tongue
•Dual POV
