A very interesting story and incredible piece of New Brunswick's history. I've been interested in Henry More Smith for some time now and read this book so I could write an article about him. I loved it!

This book was the holy grail in our school library. it was dog-eared and seemed older than every other book. We would take turns getting it out and then get too freaked out to finish it. Henry, you see, is rumoured to still be in Kingston. He likes to hang out in the remnants of the old gaol, which just happens to be the basement of the school. Any noise we heard, shadow we saw, or flickering of lights that happened, was attributed to him. So I guess you could say that Bates was pretty effective in his telling of the strange adventures of Smith (if that was his real name).
