I loved this trilogy! I fell in love with the characters from the beginning and enjoyed seeing how the ones who were already Christian used their faith to influence others without preaching. They let the way they lived be their witness.

Dr. Mercy’s compassion and personal involvement with her patients reminds me of a dear internist friend. This is obviously not the first book in the series; there are lots of references to events that must have happened in previous books. Each patient is his own storyline; a couple hint at mystery or thriller but the tone of the book is more romance. Mercy’s ex-husband has become a Christian. Does that mean she should reconcile with him even though she is in love with Lukas? This issue is considered by several characters, including the principles, but not dealt with in any depth. My favorite character was Clarence, a four-hundred pounder learning that God can use him and that he has value. The specificity of medical terminology at least sounds like the authors know what they are talking about.

The Sacred Trust - Silent Pledge

The Sacred Trust was the perfect ending for this series. I read the three books in quick succession. Barely stopping to eat and sleep. It was a series of events like real life. Each book can be read individually but I encourage you to read them as written. I laughed, I cried, and I hugged my loved ones closer. Life is too short to not face reality and realize God is good all the time.

A satisfying ending to a good series.
After reading so much disappointing Christian fiction was wonderful to see one that the characters changed and grew in a realistic way. Loved Clarence in this story and his substory had me in tears several times.

Happiness and sadness. Suspense and plot twists. This final book in the trilogy was a fast read. Glad we got to see how life worked out for the characters. Can’t say I liked the other hospital but it was necessary. Now I need to read a calm book ha.

Hannah Alexander writes exciting medical mysteries!

Hannah immediately transports readers into the middle of the action! All you can do is hang on… and keep reading!

Silent Pledge begins just a little slower than the other two books in this series. Odira Bagby is caring for her great granddaughter, who has cystic fibrosis. When Crystal begins to run a high fever with a bad cough, she does the only thing she can do under the circumstances – call Dr. Mercy!

In this third book of the series, the Knolls Community Hospital E.R. is no more… if you read the book, you’ll find out what happened to it, but I hate to divulge that information in my review, in case you’re reading the series now.

Anyway, suffice it to say that things are not going well in Knolls, Missouri… Dr. Lukas Bower is working temporarily in Herald, Missouri; Dr. Mercy Richmond is kept busier than ever with the clinic – and housecalls from people in the community; fireman Buck and his wife Kendra are having their own problems, and Delphi Bell is going to need help – and soon!

Hannah’s characters are complex, professional “real” people who are very convincing, and she sprinkles the people we’ve gotten to know and love with new characters in each book. This is the last book of the series – and I can’t stress enough how much you should read them all – begin with the first one and read all three in order.

You don’t have to do this to enjoy each one, but the story moves along especially well when you do… and rest assured that I’m not going to give away anything, so you’ll have to read them for yourself to find out how this exciting series ends…

"Silent Pledge" is Christian general fiction with a lot of suspense. This novel is the third and last in a series, but you can understand this book without having to read the others. This novel did spoil some events in the previous novels, though, and the previous novels are excellent, so I'd recommend starting with "Sacred Trust" and "Solemn Oath."

The characters were interesting, complex, and acted realistically. The various characters dealt with real issues (like spouse abuse, the after-effects of rape, and more). The medical scenes were plentiful. While the technical terms were rarely explained, I could still follow what was going on and the medical details didn't slow the fast pace.

The main characters were Christians. The Christian characters' faith affected their decisions and everyday life, and the Christian elements felt like a natural part of the story. I also felt Christianity was portrayed in a realistic manner, from the struggles the Christians had to the reactions of the non-Christians. If you like faith as a major part of the novels you read, then you'll probably enjoy this novel.

There was no sex. There was a very minor amount of "he cursed" style of bad language. Overall, I'd highly recommend this suspenseful, realistic novel.

WOW! Though I didn't like this book nearly as much as the first two (I felt they were trying to recreate the first one in some ways), the ending gave a very powerful punch! On the whole marriage issue: I've read some reviews on how this was handled, but I have to agree with the authors on this one. I don't think it's God's will for a person who got out of a desperate marriage and Biblical grounds to go back to it just because the person was saved. I think that's water under the bridge, and if there is not mutual attraction in love for both people, the marriage is not a good idea. I didn't like how this book ended - I know that's life and a sacrifice, but I just wish the author would have taken it a different route for the sake of the innocent child who will probably now have nightmares for a long time to come...

This was a powerful (and predictable) ending to a great series! Can't wait to read the next series...

The christian love and kindness shared in this series makes you want to read all of Hannah Alexanders' books. One can relate to each character because they are so realistic, especially in today's world. In Silent Pledge there is love of a grandmother, a troubled wife trying to find answers, a relocated doctor, an alcoholic father that has just been released from a rehab, the love they all have for each other, as they find and strengthen their faith in God. Don't miss this series, it's real and shows us just how we never know the path God has for us and how wonderful the journey can be together.

Last of the ER Trilogy. Lukas and Mercy struggle separately with loneliness, heavy workloads and politics. Shows Christians aren't exempt from problems. Clarence blooming is fun to read about.
