I had zero information about essays and my teacher decided to give us a homework without explaining so I had to read about essays and figure out how to write one and this book helped. It had many examples, tips and details.

برای همه‌ی سطح‌ها نیست. برای سطح خیلی خیلی خیلی ابتدایی است. درمورد ساده‌ترین مسائل حرف می‌زند، چندتا عبارت پیشنهاد می‌دهد و از این فراتر نمی‌رود.
مثال‌ها خوب بودند ولی اگر می‌خواستم مثال بخوانم که صدتا کتاب جستار هست که متن‌های فوق‌العاده دارن، نه متن‌های صرفا خوب.
در نهایت هم دنای کلاس هفتم اگر می‌دید نشستم برای انشا نوشتن کتاب می‌خونم نمی‌گذاشت زنده بمونم. برم دینش رو ادا کنم و بعد سه چهار سال بالاخره یه متن بنویسم.
پ.ن. چرا باید عبارت پیشنهاد بدییییی مگه ما چت جی پی تی ایم؟؟؟؟؟

I originally read this book, and another one, only sarcastically, or ironically, as if making fun of academic writing. Now as the year comes to a close and I see the embarrassing amount of books I've read, I add them both - not sure if I feel better for having a higher book count or worse for adding how-to-texts to my profile. Only God can judge me, and he doesn't exist.

به نظر می‌رسد کتابی کمک درسی باشد برای مدارس مناطق انگلیسی‌زبان یا به طور کلی جاهایی که درس‌هایی شبیه به انشا دارند و از دانش‌آموزان می‌خواهند درباره‌ی موضوعی خاص جستاری بنویسند. تفاوت «جستاری» که مد نظر نویسنده بوده و این کتاب را به هدف آن نوشته، با «جستار»ی که مای مخاطب فارسی زبان (مخصوصا توی این هفت هشت ده ساله) توی ذهنمان آمده، زیاد است.
و همین باعث می‌شود کسانی کتاب را به اشتباه بخرند و بخوانند.
راستش به نظر من(با توجه به فهرست و مثالهای کتاب) این کتاب برای زبا‌ن‌آموزانی مناسب است که قرار است در امتحانی کتبی، عمق و گستره دانش خود از زبان را با نوشتن «جستار»ی درباره موضوع پیشنهادی ممتحن ارائه‌ دهند.
و برای همین اصلا کتاب را باید به زبان اصلی آن بخوانند و ترجمه این کتاب به نوعی نقض غرض است.

کتاب «چگونه جستار بنویسیم»، یکی از بهترین کتاب های آموزش جستار نویسی است. این کتاب با بیانی ساده فضای کلی جستار را برای مخاطب شرح می دهد و در ادامه با حفظ یک رویکرد آموزش محور، آن هم از نوع دانشگاهی، به توضیحاتی پیرامون انواع جستار و قالب جستار می پردازد.

هدف کتاب این است که ساختاری مقبول و کاربردی از جستارنویسی را به دانش‌آموزان و دانشجویان ارائه دهد. در همین حد کارش را خوب انجام می‌دهد. راستش مطالب این کتاب متأسفانه در فضای آکادمیک ایران چندان کاربرد ندارد. در مدرسه که عملاً به درد نمی‌خورد و در دانشگاه هم به نظر نمی‌رسد بهتر از این باشد. چند سال است دانشگاهم تمام شده و در این سال‌ها هیچ‌وقت لازم نبوده که ساختارِ جستارنویسی بدانیم، چون نظام آموزشی ما فقط می‌خواهد مطالبی را فرو کند در مغز عده‌ای و ارزش‌یابی‌اش هم ادایی بیش نیست. بااین‌حال قطعاً برای دانش‌آموزان و دانشجویان در کشورهای دیگر کاربرد دارد. ضمناً چندین سال پیش، شاید در پانزده یا شانزده‌سالگی، دو ترم Writing گذراندم که دقیقاً مطالب همین کتاب و حتی بیش‌تر از آن هم کار شده بود. پس این کتاب چندان به درد من نخورد و نکته‌ای نداشت. البته اگر می‌خواهید در دانشگاه‌های خارج از ایران تحصیل کنید، به نظرم باید این کتاب را بخوانید. این نکته را هم در پایان اضافه کنم که تمرکزِ نویسنده بر جستارنویسی برای تکالیف درسی و آزمون‌هاست. برای همین گفتم که در ایران چندان کاربردی ندارد. اما اگر جدا از فضای آکادمیک می‌خواهید جستاری ارائه دهید، شاید کتاب چیزهایی به شما بیاموزد.

Helpful if you need to brush up on your essay writing skills. It covers a wide range of essay writing faux pas in an engaging way like 'Comma-itis' which you definitely don't want to come down with when writing essays.

I think it could have done with more elaboration on referencing and bibliographies which was one of the main reasons I picked it up but it does give good advice and examples of strong essay writing structure.

Recommendations depends really on how good and confident an essay writer you are, I think it is more aimed at GCSE level students despite it's claims for covering all levels of essay writing. I think it's a good guide but somewhat dumbed down and a little basic.

It was a very informative book , with so many detailed examples of different types of essays , and also helpful tips , it was an easy read but i took from it a lot of informations.
