You know when you start reading a book and it is good enough to keep reading, then gets better, and then you get interested enough that you want to know how it is going to end? Then you realize that the book you are reading is only the first installment and now you will have to decide to let it go and not find out how the story will end or commit to reading two more books. Ugh! This is not the kind of book that captures my attention from page to page driving me on through however many sequels will follow. However it was an Interesting historical fiction story about the woman who becomes Napolean Bonaparte's wife (at the very end of the book). It takes you back to the time of the French Revolution and the life of aristocrats who had most of their livelihood taken from them and even many of them thrown in prison and killed simply for being royalty. Josephine B. was not born an aristocrat but through life's opportunities married into royalty. This book takes you through her journey and as the titles of the book gives a way, her many secrets and sorrows. This book was passed on to me from my sister. Since the library has the sequel, I am going to give it a shot and see if it holds my attention.

One of the best series of books i've ever read- historical fiction- i never thought i would fall in love with this era in French history but it was magnetically written!
