I read one review which claimed the material a scam. They needed to do a little more research before making the claim. This book is a tool used across the country for a group called "Maximized Living." This is a collection of Christian chiropractors using principles of the bible to heal the body. Sounds a little like Christian Scientist doesn't it? Well it isn't but it is. Do they advise using medications? NO. Absolutely not. Why? Well let's look at all of the commercials today advertising drugs. How many side effects does each one carry? I like the ones that could cause death. Yeah, I want to give that one try. Okay, I'm getting off point.
I have been a patient of Dr. Rob Vasquez in Bedford,Tx for over two-and-a-half years with moderate success and improvement. I signed up when I felt very faint during a speech. My daughter suggested I go see him. She had listened to one his presentations while studying to become a massage therapist. I told her, I'd think about it. I went to my long time Chiropractor first. He couldn't get anything to move. Medically, it's not good when your neck is locked-up, so I set up and appointment and gave it a shot. Oh, my neurologist was suggesting neck surgery. No way, I'm still recovering from a 360 lamectomy. Dr. Rob agreed with the neurologist diagnosis only if he couldn't get any movement in the neck. He did. That is the good news.
The book and regime as based on five essentials to life. So far, I have not completely signed up for the whole program. I know I need adjustments do to past issues, but I'm not convinced that this book is the end all to all of our medical ills. The book points out three main issues as do the clinics, reduce/climate sugar intake, get regular adjustments and reduce the toxin the home environment. Less sugar will allow the body to use the normal fat burning enzyme Leptin and a healthy spine will allow the nervous system to work at 100% efficiency. I do not disagree our intake of sugar is too high and being a back sufferer for over thirty years, I know adjustments have kept me on my feet. Toxins. We are bombarded constantly on the radio and television about the bad air we breath and how the combustible engines in cars and trucks are killing us. But what about the daily household products we use to clean with? Yep, they to have toxins which the body can absorb.
There are some excellent principles the book points out on a much healthier lifestyle with countless testimonials. I believe if Chiropractors and Medical Doctors could come to a common ground instead of claiming one is better than the other, we could have a great medical system. As it is now, both sides are pitted against each other.
I know a lot of people think chiropractors are quacks and not real doctors. Fair enough, but I know without their care over the past thirty years, walking would have been a real problem.
My suggestion is this, if you are looking for a change in your health and lifestyle, find the nearest Maximized Living clinic and go visit them. They have a lot of free dinners and seminars for prospective clients. I will warn you though, if you are looking for an office that is a one-on-one treatment with private rooms, don't go. The offices (at least the one I go to) is wide open and you take a number for the adjustment. If you aren't into people raising pom-poms and constantly cheering you on, don't go.
But if you relish in groups, love an outgoing exciting experience, enjoy interacting with many types of people and children, and are tired of being diagnosed by every specialist known to man, with no results other than more medications, you will feel right at home and will receive the maximum care you are seeking.
The diet and surge training are legitimate theories on maintaining a healthy lifestyle which anyone could benefit from undertaking. However, as much as I am a proponent of organic food and natural household products, I grow wary of any ideology that insists all medications are toxic. I'm not against chiropractics in general, but chiropractics is a recognized pseudoscience by healthcare professionals and 3 realignments a week won't prevent cancer. Sorry. Besides which there were too many testimonials, and plugs for Maximized Living supplements. That said, I'm planning on giving the "diet" a try while I ween myself off sugar.
Well this book was a super quick read. The 5 points are very much common sense, although there were some facts in there that raised some red flags of alarm, which I think is the intention to begin with. Definitively an interesting read to spring board for further information to back a lot of the statistics and facts they point to therein. Quite funny in some spots too. Heavy on the testimonials, I believe that if you took those and put them on a separate chapter, the essence of the 5 essentials, would have taken 1/2 a chapter. I understand some people need the testimonials to motivate them, I am just not one of them.
Really interesting and insightful read. Includes some thoughtful tidbits to chew on that even got my husband's attention in regards to health in wellness which is not an easy feat. For example, "The fastest way to end up in the nursing home is to base your health on how you feel." and "The body doesn't need any help in healing; it just doesn't need any interference!"
Covers the bases if you want to have not just a long life but one of vitality and enjoying the golden years by just a few lifestyle choices, none of which are really time-consuming or difficult. MUST READ, especially for anyone in their 40s or higher, and of course younger as well to get off on a healthy start all the way to finish.
This book is a comprehensive guide on changing life style to a healthier one. It has five principles to follow. It includes shopping lists for groceries and a 28 day guide for a food plan. There are also recipes at the end. If one needs to reset or a jump start it is worth reading.
Interesting book about the 5 essential things you need to do to maximize your living. Paraphrasing here, but basically, focus on the mind (be positive), healthy eating (cut the bad things out of your diet), exercise (just a bit a day does wonders), dump toxins (medications don't make you better), and spinal adjustments (chiropracters are awesome - well certain ones it appears).
Overall, I did learn some new information, like healthy oils...while I knew Olive Oil was great, I did not realize it goes rancid at too high a temp, normal cooking temps for us, so looks like it's coconut oil that will be replacing that for cooking. The Surge Training reminds me of HIIT training I do from Beachbody (TurboFire). High Intensity Interval Training. Push to 75-85% max heart rate, then recover for a bit...all in about 12 minutes of a workout. Everyone can do 12 minutes, right? I said Right?!?
While I was skeptical about the Chiropracter information, I admit the data in the book makes me want to look into this more. Getting my central nervous system in check would be a good thing, if it's really out of whack...and while I feel no pain, that doesn't mean it's not messed up...just not bad enough to make me notice yet.
There is about 30 pages of solid information in the book. 30 pages of meal guides to get you started, and the rest is testimonials, which while some are indeed amazing, I prefer a lot more information to learn from then people telling me how much better they are after...blah blah blah...
I know it's the 1st essential - Mind, but personally, I don't need to hear from a bunch of people that say this is great if the data makes me think it could be a good thing to try.
I was led to Maximized Living a few years ago after moving across the United States from the West Coast to the East Coast. In the last three years since being a regular patient at Maximized Living, I have had a chronic foot pain disappear and my eyesight has improved twice. I have also experienced other health benefits as well. I recommend this book and program to everybody who wants to improve their health and overall well-being.
Interesting. Very informative. I truly was out of the loop on some simple things that I can do to better protect myself and safeguard my nieces and nephews to prevent them from waiting till late age to to concentrate on living life well and to the fullest.
