The Rainbow Brigade #1

Whisper into the Night

Rate this book
Theo Moreau never wanted to be involved with politics, but when his mother wins the presidential election, he reluctantly agrees to tag along for his younger siblings. Nothing could have prepared him to juggle his anxiety, complex family dynamics, and the complicated world of the White House. Lacking supportive friends and family, he leans on his steadfast Secret Service agent as tensions rise across the divisive political landscape and the dangers of being close to the president come to the surface.

Agent Connor O’Brien always wanted to be a hero, so working on the protective detail for the First Family seems like the perfect opportunity. What he isn’t expecting is to fall head over heels for the man under his protection. As their relationship blossoms, the foundation of the administration grows more unstable and the chatter from America’s right-wing demographic rises to a fever pitch. But when Theo becomes the target of their campaign, the stakes get even higher.

Unsure of who to trust, and with little help from the President, Theo and Connor join forces with their motley group of friends to unravel the mystery of who is working against them from inside the White House before the situation turns explosive. As the sinister reach of this masked shadow spreads, Theo and Connor grow even closer and the magnitude of everything they risk losing propels them into a race against the nefarious mastermind, desperately clinging to the hope they’ve found in one another before their dream come true turns into a nightmare.

Whisper into the Night is an m/m romantic suspense novel filled with action, suspense, politics, and of course, love. Set in Washington DC, this book is the first in the Rainbow Brigade series exploring the complex, often dangerous political backdrop of the United State’s government and is part of a tightly-interconnected collection of political thriller m/m romance novels that must be read in order of appearance. Each book follows the story of one couple but is told from multiple points of view to create a narrative that is equal parts plot and character-driven. Intended for an adult audience, reader discretion is advised. Please consult the author’s website for a comprehensive reader advisory.

Jay Leigh is an author (duh) as well as a voracious reader of primarily M/M romance novels filled with all sorts of goodies like action, suspense, emotions, and spice. Lots of spice.

Plot twist: It’s actually just three mischievous raccoons in a trench coat fueled by levels of caffeine known to cause cancer in the state of California. Good thing they live in New York!

"Theo, baby. You need to breathe.” Connor barely breathed the words, the softest whisper into the night.

I loved the connection between Connor and Theo. I felt it right away and their initial flirting was really sweet. Theo was the perfect grump to Connor's sunshine. They balanced each other out nicely and they were such a cute couple!

"Don’t gotta be such a grumpy little shit.” “I’ll always be a grumpy little shit.” Theo nipped at Connor’s chest, grinning as he squirmed beneath him. “But I can be your grumpy little shit."

So many good moments in this book. There's political intrigue, family issues, action, romance and found family. Not to mention a lot of great banter amongst the characters! Some of my favorite chit chat was when they're in the clothing store. I loved that chapter!

Anger, resentment, fear, and sadness hit Theo all at once, and that, combined with his current mental state, became a heady concoction. He gasped in surprise as a hand landed on the small of his back.

The author handled Theo's anxiety so well in this book. It felt very authentic and well represented and I appreciated how Connor was super in tune to Theo's needs.

I had a lot of feelings regarding Adelaide in this book. She really pissed me off a few times. I have no idea what it would be like to be the President (hard pass on that job), but I'm pretty sure she should have had a lot more respect for Theo and his opinions on what was best for their family. Luckily, Theo had Connor there to help him in his times of need and lift him up. Not to mention, the sexy times were great.

Pure, unadulterated desire coursed through Connor as he rolled his hips, his moans muffled in the depths of their impassioned kiss.

I had so many thoughts about who was behind the mystery going on in this book and I was so completely wrong!!! You got me Jay. I had no idea. I love how all the parts of the story came together. I also want to point out that sometimes when books introduce a lot of characters, it can feel bogged down and feel as though I'm not getting much of the MCs story, but that was not at all the case here. Everyone had their own voice and I wasn't left feeling like I missed out on something. I am super excited for the next book, which I believe will be about Elias and Caleb.

*** I received and ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion. ***

Book safety down below!
This book hit all the spots for me. It was a perfect blend of the sweetest romance between a ‘grumpy little shit’ and a southern sunshine, a good dousing of politics, tin foil worthy conspiracies, and a final sprinkling of family drama.

The use of several different POVs was unusual (to me), but once I had a handle on all the characters and their relation to each other, I really friggin’ enjoyed it. It was mega neat being able to see how dynamic the MCs really were, through the eyes of a whole bunch of different people, including Miss Madam President (mom), the Chief Of Staff, a White House doctor, and an FBI agent.

I also read a lot of books with a lot of smut, but this was the first book in a long time that gave me that good, tingly, butterfly-y feeling (you know the one). The MCs had insane chemistry, and the way you could just feel how much they wanted each other in the desperation when they finally got hot and bothered? chef’s kiss

Book safety! Spoilers ahead.

Favorite quotes:
"Emotional support cookies, his first meal of the day, not that it counted as anything remotely nutritional. The problem with anxiety was that it led to nausea, and nausea led to not eating, and not eating led to more nausea, and that led to more anxiety. The result? Theo usually found himself sitting on the floor eating sad emotional support cookies."

"Coming face to face with Theo's wary, smoldering attitude made the situation much more alluring. He carried himself with the enigmatic wariness of a mystical being, practically elven in elegance and disdain both."

Why did I think this was a vampire story for the longest time, which is why I never read it up until now? lol
It is in fact NOT a vampire story (wtf Pauline, seriously) but a very emotional, deeply romantic, swoony, funny, angsty, intense suspense political thriller with a beautifully done found family trope. LOL again.

It’s told from multiple POVs (6, if I’m not mistaken) which I’ve never seen done before. And while this automatically put the sizzling chemistry and romance on the back burner again and again during the course of the book, I didn’t mind it all that much, because the thriller/drama/intrigue aspect told from different perspectives was seriously GRIPPING! It felt like a movie playing in my head which was neat 😎

Also, I have such a soft spot for characters with anxiety and panic attacks and the way Theo’s struggles were depicted felt very real; poor, beautiful, brave baby Theo 🥹. Connor was perfect with all his southern charm and overprotectiveness and together they made for such a great hurt/comfort dynamic.

A few things to mention: All the names in the beginning were A LOT and I found myself asking ‘Who was (insert one of the many many names here) again?’ loudly and to no one in particular quite a few times in the beginning. I also wanted to kick the president in the shins throughout the whole book and was disappointed that we didn’t get a resolution concerning the conflict between her and her son. I wanted her to GROVEL TO HELL AND BACK AND KISS THE FUCKING GROUND HE WALKED ON, but no, it was fade to black. Maybe we’ll get something in the next books? I really really hope so.

I enjoyed the hell out of every single character of the rainbow brigade and am already excited to see their characters being fleshed out more during the course of the series.
This wasn’t perfect and you have to suspend your belief in reality a bit (as you tend to have to do a lot in this genre) but I’m already in love with next books pairing, so I will definitely continue with this series 🌈

Great Book

This is a great book. I really appreciate how the mental health issue was handled. The entire story Drew me in and was very interesting. I almost gave it 5 stars but the severaal different POVs throughout threw off the flow a bit for me. It still made for an amazing read.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

I really enjoyed this world that Jay has created – unique, queer characters that came together to support each other and even made a little found family. They all came from different backgrounds but found so much love and acceptance from each other.

The romance between Theo and Connor was immediate and so sweet. Connor was part of the Secret Service and tasked with protecting Theo and Theo’s two younger siblings. While Connor was an excellent agent, he couldn’t resist Theo. Theo was moody and not thrilled to be part of his mother’s (the President) political career. In fact, he hated it but found a kindred spirit in Connor. I loved how they connected immediately and didn’t hold back their affection, even though it wasn’t the most appropriate situation.

The relationship between Theo and his mother, Madam President, was so tense and even heartbreaking. Theo had absolutely no support from her and seemed more like a political pawn and glorified babysitter for her younger children. He just wanted his mom - not the president.

I won’t share anything about the mystery/conflict because I don’t want to spoil anything - I will say that it kept me guessing the whole time!!

This is written in a way that is truly unique. This was written in the third person but followed a different character in each chapter. We get to know the rest of the “rainbow brigade” by reading how they’re all connected and involved in the mystery present throughout the book. It did take some getting used to but I appreciated how much detail went into creating such a diverse group of characters. I think it also sets up for the rest of the series.

I truly love political thrillers, and throw-in a MM romance between bodyguard x first son! I was totally sold! I totally slid into @jayelle_m DMs to ask for an ARC once I saw the description!

Theo Moreau never wanted to be involved with politics.

Agent Connor O’Brien always wanted to be a hero.

REVIEW: ★★★★.5
I really enjoyed this read and totally recommend it for any thriller fans! Theo and Connor were very sweet and the handling of Theo's anxiety was very well done.

"𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐, 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆.” 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕.

I also really loved the queer found family here and how they supported each other. There's a whole cast of characters that I'm excited to learn more about in future books!

The conspiracy/plot was a little over the top at times, but still kept me on the edge of my seat. Writing was witty and engaging.

Really enjoyable, full of action and intrigue. The idea of the White House with females, children and lgbtq representation is great. The number of different characters was a little confusing at times, it's logical for the first book of a planned series but not always easy to follow. The mental health struggles were beautifully written and weren't solved by the end, as it should be. Theo especially was a lovely character.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am happy to leave a voluntary review.

An enjoyable story with plenty of action, mystery, romance, and spice. Political thriller is not my usual genre, but I found it very intriguing. I really had a lot of fun with it. If you like political thrillers, I’d suggest picking this up. The real draw for me (as is so often the case) was the romance. Connor and Theo had a great connection with a lot of sweetness and spice. They were definitely my favorite part of the book. I’m not sure which one I loved more.

One of the things I loved most was the inclusion of so many interesting queer characters who surround the main couple. They all get POV chapters, so you really get to know them all, which is great because if I understand correctly the focus is going to shift to a new couple each book as they fall in love. And there were some interesting pairings set up well here.

I don’t really know how to talk about the plot without spoiling it so I’ll just say it was a fun mystery that had me guessing and second-guessing myself the whole time. One of my theories was correct but not in the way I expected.

It’s like The West Wing meets The Bodyguard, with the twists of Scandal, and the queerness of Red, White & Royal Blue all rolled into one rainbow-hued package.

Thank you so much to Jay Leigh for sending me a copy of this. I look forward to checking out the rest of the series.

So this book!!! I’m not sure what I was expecting but it was really good and kept me on my toes!! It does have a lot of main characters and when I started I thought how am I going to keep track of them all!! But don’t worry as you get to know them you get to love them and want more from them!

This book is about Theo and Connor but it’s not your normal run if the mill book to get to their story, it’s woven into a political scandal that is full of twists and keeps you guessing!!

Theo is the eldest son of the President of the White House and she is a single mother of 3, Theo is the main care giver to his younger siblings and is plagued with anxiety, his mother is quite brutal in the way she handles her family and although she cares for them and wants to keep them safe, she’s also not hands on or affectionate which causes a bit of an uproar in the public’s eye.

Connor O’Brien is one of the secret service agents who is given the job of looking after Theo, straight away he sees how much he’s struggling and uses his southern charm to help keep Theo calm. They click right away and both know things won’t be easy when it comes to them being together, but they didn’t expect the turn of events that had everyone on high alert and trying to figure out where everything whet wrong.

I love this found family, all these different people who come together and have each others back, they form a bond like no other, the banter they throw at each other is hilarious, I love how different they all are but they can all get behind a support cookie and cake!!!!

This was a great rep for anxiety, where it’s not cured by the end of the book, the struggles are still there but being properly worked through, with those around accepting it and being mindful of it.

This is my first book by Jay and I can’t wait to read more of their work.

Okay, so let's start with the fact that I thought I was getting a political romance. I did, but there is so much more to this book. You get suspense, hurt/comfort, romance, and found family elements. I stayed up way too late reading this one and absolutely can't wait to get the book.

Now let's talk about Conner, Theo, and their cast of friends. I quickly became attached to these characters and had several moments where I wanted to reach out to Theo and pull him into a hug. I wanted to tell him know that I know how strong you are, but I'm right there to support him alongside Conner. Theo is the oldest son of the new president, and Conner is a Secret Service agent. Of course, the bad guys use Theo to try and get their revenge on Madam President. Their bond forms so quickly, and I loved how much Conner was willing to do to keep Theo safe. The connection between Conner and Theo is so sweet, and they definitely have heat between them. Their cast of friends fights alongside them to make sure no one can hurt them.

Oh, I could just keep going, but part of the excitement is watching the journey unfold right before your eyes.

Thank you for the ARC copy Jay Leigh and I will be waiting patiently for the next book. Well, maybe not patiently.

I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

First time author for me

The thing that I liked the most about this book was that it was written from multiple points of view, not just the MCs. I really connected with all the characters, except maybe the mom (President). The frustrating thing about the book was that is was kind of a political thriller plot and the plot was all over the place, where I was often in a “what the heck is happening” mode.

I loved this book. The first thought that struck me when I began reading this book was WOW, THIS PERSON CAN WRITE! Because, friends, the writing is really good. It's beautiful, smart, and intricate.

The book starts off by fleshing out the main cast. There are multiple points of views, and while I had a bit of trouble keeping up with the characters at the beginning, I ended up loving the change in perspective. I love thrillers, I love suspense and intrigue and twists and drama, and this book delivered on all of that. The second half had my pulse rising, because the pace was so alert, everything was happening all at once, and yes! That's my jam.

Found family is something that I adore. I'm so happy when a bunch of people just click, you know? When they find comfort and support in one another. It's much like this book community, where you find people that understand you and appreciate you, even if you've only known each other for a couple of weeks. (I'm basically Lily, always bringing cake and cookies and being introverted and AWESOME. 😅 I like her a lot. )

Theo, my sweet Theo was so relatable. He's been neglected most of his life, he had to make sacrifices to take care of his siblings, he's battling anxiety and struggling with asthmatic episodes that make him feel weak and unwanted. There's one specific episode in the book that broke my heart, the confrontation he has with his mother, that pretty much puts everything into motion. God, that was so heartbreaking to witness. But Connor, sweet Connor, always by his side, being supportive and adorable.

I pride myself on sniffing the bad guy early on, well, booo, I was completely wrong. 😅 The plot twist was exquisite.
There are several funny moments throughout the book, especially when Caleb is involved, but Abriella's abuela delivered the best comic relief with that Men In Black reference. Hahaha.

I do wish Theo got more closure when it came to his Mom, though. I was expecting a confrontation at the end, I would have loved to see that.

But ah, read this book, ok? Looking forward to the next ones in the series.

I've got an arc and this is my honest review!

I loved it. The characters, the romance, the plot THE FOUND FAMILY. The emotional support cookies.
I couldn't put it down and I spent the entire evening reading it. The writing was witty and charming. The characters were so fun to follow and their relationships with each others seemed so genuine.
It made me feel like I was part of their family!
Theo is a sweet bean and I want to put him in a burritos blanket fort. He went through so much, he's the strongest bby. The way I want to fight everyone on his behalf. Connor would agree with me I think
I loved all the characters, specially Abriella. My future wife, she threaten men quicker than anyone 🥰
I truly think everyone will love this book, meanwhile I'll be sitting in a corner waiting for book 2 🥰

Unpopular opinion time, but I didn't enjoy the book as much as I though I would.

What didn't work for me?
- too many POVs, especially that they didn't bring anything new to the development of the relationship.
- avoidance of the difficult conversations - there were a few moments (I would say the most important ones) that were simply skipped. Why? Should I imagine what they were talking about?
- the relationship didn't feel like a relationship at all.

I think this was my first read with so many POVs…
At first I was not sure about it but then I really fell in love with all of them! 🥰

Awww Connor and Theo! 😍😍

Theo is a sensitive young man who suffers from anxiety, I found it difficult to see him struggle with this…

But I really liked how the author really adequately portrayed what it's like to live with anxiety and that in the end he's not just magically cured, he's still going to have to live with it his whole life. But he's surrounded by a lot of wonderful and loving people who will always help him whenever he needs it…

The most important one being of course Connor! He was always there for him from the very beginning… He cared so much for him and it really showed with both his words and actions!

They make such a great couple! 💜💜

❤️ Hurt/Comfort
🧡 First son & his bodyguard
💛 Found family
💚 Grumpy/Sunshine
💙 Anxiety representation
💜 Political intrigue

Favorite quotes:

"I like it. No one's ever called me that before."
"Well, I reckon sometimes you're a grumpy bear, but I think deep inside you're a teddy bear. At least, I see you that way.

«I’ll always be a grumpy little shit." Theo nipped at Connor's chest, grinning as he squirmed beneath him.
"But I can be your grumpy little shit."

"I reckon I'd like that more'n anything. Calling you mine,'"
"Connor whispered, the words feather soft against Theo's lips.

This is the first book in the Rainbow Brigade Series and tells the story of Theo & Connor.

Something is happening in the White House and it ain’t boring! What a ride this debuting author takes us on from the very beginning.

An ambitious project for sure, and if it weren’t for Jay Leigh’s excellent storytelling skills, engaging characters and suspenseful plot, it could easily have gone sideways. But it doesn’t!

Since this is a Series, the first book acts as an introduction to the political world and its intrigues as well as the characters from the next books.

But at the very center, in the middle of a political storm, are our two MCs. The first son Theo who suffers from asthma and anxiety, the caretaker of his younger siblings - but who takes care of Theo?
In-coming: southern charmer and natural born protector, secret service agent (and hunk!) Connor. The chemistry is there from the get-go when these opposites causes sparks to fly!

As flirtatious banter and cookie sharing turns into real love, these two must face their enemies and I’m not gonna spoil anything - but I was at the edge of my seat a few times 😳😳

So, here we go:
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Angst: 🥹🥹
Swoon: 🫠🫠🫠

Bonus points: enjoy the writing style! It is gorgeous and the dialogue is phenomenal. This gal can write! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

so good

I adored this story. I thought I would get lost with all the different POV and this author pulled it off beautifully. The MCs weren’t lost in the story. The POVs actually helped understand and love the two even more. This had the perfect amount of suspense and Love. I didn’t even guess who did it so that was great. The writing was amazing keeping me in my toes the entire time. The smexy was hawt. I love when a nerdy shy boy knows what he wants. The side characters where great and I love the diversity.

Connor (the secret service agent) and Theo (the First Son) truly do a crappy job of keeping their new relationship quiet and I couldn't be more delighted about it. This book leans toward romantic suspense and somehow kept most of the lighthearted vibe except when things were going down. They build a nice found family situation with people close to the White House and it was nice to see. Some of them were quiet and came out of their shells with their people and it was lovely.

I hated that it was a big deal but I liked that Theo had poorly controlled asthma and it was consistently dealt with throughout the book. Sometimes authors throw medical conditions at characters and then forget. Theo keeps almost dying and is extremely sensitive to pneumonia and it was solidly done. His anxiety spirals in the middle of asthma attacks felt completely genuine.

I want Caleb/Elias' age gap, office romance, single parent romance. BAD. I'm not anywhere close to done with this series.

When I first started I was a little nervous because there were so many point of views and I was like this is gonna be too much! I loved that this was a romance but that wasn't the soul focus of the book! Conner and Theo were such a good couple and you just routed for them.

I'm a sucker for a good friend group and this eclectic group of characters was so fun! You also totally had me at Clue! Games from my childhood always make me smile!

The swoony "my Teddy" was most definitely a favorite term of endearment. This book is low spice but fits the flow of the book and what was there was great!

Can't wait to get into the rest of the Rainbow
Brigade!

I also probably would have had way more highlighted but I listened to the bulk of this and was hard to get to highlighting!!

A bodygaurd romance like no other! Can I just say wow! Some of the tropes in this book are not my go to tropes but after reading the blurb I was captivated and knew I had to read! And I’m glad I did, this was an amazing book warped up in a mystery romance package with a found family trope bow on the top. If strong characters that you feel like you personally know is your thing then you need to pick this book up. I don’t want to say too much because I believe this is a book you just need to sink yourself into but PLEASE read this!!!

I didn't know quite what to expect when going into this book because it's a little different than my most recent reads, but I loved it! An exciting political thriller-type romance with danger, suspense, sweet romance, and a kickass found family. I can't wait to see what this group has to overcome with in the next book!

•minor spoilers•

The main romantic relationship is between Theo, the First Son of the U.S., and his bodyguard/Secret Service agent, Connor. Theo struggles with some major anxiety, and only moved into the White House to help with his much younger siblings, giving up a lot of his independence. Connor is a sweet southern gentleman who's immediately infatuated with Theo and they form a very sweet, supportive, loving romance. I feel like they were pretty obvious and not super secretive but I guess no one paid them any attention because the secretive part of this somewhat forbidden relationship wasn't a huge factor.

Now, while they are the main guys, we got a lot of other characters POVs, mostly the characters that make up the Rainbow Brigade found family. Besides Theo's President mom, I loved them. I wasn't sure about all the switching POVs at first, as it took some of the focus of the romance, but this was a very plot driven book and the different characters each brought something unique to the story.

I wish there was more romance, because every time I I read about Connor and Theo I could feel their chemistry and connection on the page and just wanted more! I did love the plot though, it wasn't really predictable and it was fun to get into. I would say the writing is a little more complex than my normal read so it took a little longer to get through, but I liked the style and character development. All the characters had very distinctive voices and everything tied up really nicely.

I'm excited to see where the next book goes with everything and get a little more insight on the other characters. Except Theo's mom, I'm not sure anything could bring her back onto my good side.

Read if you like:
• bodyguard/client
• hurt/comfort
• opposites attract
• mental health rep
• found family

Came for the political thriller/romance between a secret service agent and a son of the new president, stayed for the found family. Okay, and for Theo and Conner too.

Theo is the eldest son of newly elected president Adelaide Montgomery. At 21 he could be off living his own life, but he postponed the start of his own career to help with family optics and caring for his two younger siblings. Unfortunately, their new White House life is not doing him any favors with anxiety inducing triggers. Fortunately, both distraction and support show up in the form of Connor O’Brien, the secret service agent assigned to protect him. Friendly and quick to smile, Connor knows getting closer to the president’s son means he’s likely stretching the rules - okay, breaking them - but isn’t eager to check on that, for reasons.

And if the relationship and family dramas weren’t enough, there’s also political secrets, danger and threats from a conservative fringe group that doesn’t like the changes being made by the new administration. The action really ramps up towards the end, with chases and a kidnapping.

I tend to shy away from reads that draw a lot from from real world issues - side effect of “politics” making me want to scream into the void forever - but this was so much more and absolutely worth the read.

I also super appreciated an epilogue that didn’t have everything wrapped up in a too tidy bow - which would have felt fake - but happy and hopeful just the same.
I feel like it perfectly suited the story, and has me hoping to read more with these characters.
Most of them.
I’m still holding a grudge on one, but no spoilers so *zips lips*

I have loved a good MM romance with a setup of politics which involves The White House, so when I came across Whisper Into The Night by Jay Leigh I was going to read it no doubt. And the author didn't disappoint me. It's my first book by Jay Leigh and I loved every second of it.
Theo the First son & Connor was the Secret Service agent assigned to protect Theo. Connor & Theo had an instant chemistry which I loved and I also how Connor protected and cared for Theo during his panic attacks.
There were multiple POVs in this book which was a bit unusual but I loved how we got to know things from their perspective. And their found family, I loved every single member and also the kids. Parker was such a great kid at the end, I was in awe at how beautifully the scenes had been written about Toby, Anna & Parker. Abriella was a queen; I liked her so much and would love to read her story. Elias and Caleb were such an unusual pairing but they had their chemistry and I can't wait for their story. Lily was also so a cool and amazing doctor, I liked her character a lot.
Connor and Theo had great chemistry throughout the book, and even after they started living together those moments were so well written, I fell in love with them. Overall loved the Book.

Oh wow. I enjoyed this WAY more than I ever expected to. This was quite the pleasant surprise. There is a lot going on here, but it works. It's a romantic suspense. It's heavy on the plot with a little dash of spice and sugary sweetness. The story had me hooked. The main couple, Theo and Connor, were so adorable and did an absolutely terrible job of hiding their forbidden relationship from anyone with eyes. What I loved the most is the rag tag found family we get. The story is told through many POVs, not just Theo and Connor. We also get Lily, Abriella, Elias, and Theo's mom, the President. They all came together organically and showed so much unconditional support for each other. I also liked how Theo's anxiety was portrayed. It was so real and very relatable. The way the author describes it is exactly the way I have never been able to put my own feelings into words. I fell in love with the characters and the story and look forward to Elias and Caleb's story. I want to see more of Caleb so much!

I can't believe it has taken me so long to read this book!!
Theo and Connor are perfect. I love Connor's southern boy next door charm he is the perfect golden retriever MMC with just the right amount of protective goodness!! And Theo is through and through the grumpy little S**t Connor calls him!!

This book had me hooked it was fast-paced with lots of mystery going on, but the slow burn relationship was done just right and made Connor and Theos relationship seem more authentic.

The side characters in this book were just as amazing as the main MMCS, and I can't wait to jump into the next books in the series.

Whew! This book! It was a wild ride from the first line. This book is written so well and I loved seeing it from different points of view. I can honestly say I’ve never read a book that had more than two POVs. This book is a game changer and I loved Theo and Connor’s dynamic, and that sweet southern drawl, shew, it was written well!
Just read the dang book already!!
