Well, I must say this is not a genre that I like - although well written, I hated the first book, liked the second better, and lapsed back into dislike on the third. The four stars are for author style, descriptive content, intricate plot, etc. As to the story line, I hated reading on the Kindle as I would surely have skipped to the last page after about half way through the first novel. Since there were 3 novels in one, even finding the end of the first book without plowing through by reading wasn't in the cards. I find crazy people make me crazy, so three novels in a row about people with serious mental health issues was very distressing.

This is the first book that I have read of Scott Nicholson--before this, I had never heard of him. I really enjoyed all three books even though I was able to predict the ending to the second book. I really like the ending of the 3rd book--The Skull Ring as it was sort of left open for another book to pick up where this one left off.

At the ending of my ebook, there was an excerpt from the 1st book--Disintegration about a chapter that was left out and then there were other small blurbs about other books that he has written and what the plot/story lines were.

I plan on reading more of his books as I have found another author that I enjoy.

I found this on the Kindle Store for free and so I thought that I give it a try. I thought that the first book wasn't really my cup of tea, I just couldn't get into it and couldn't wait to get onto the next story, the story line on all three of the books, to me, was a bit predictable and I could easily guess where the author was going to lead the storyline to next. I did think that Scott Nicholson is a talented author who clearly has alot of talent...but for me it was just too predictable.

This is actually 3 different books. I enjoyed each of them. Fun, quick little mysteries. Crime Beat probably my favorite. Had an unpredicted twist at the end.
