Money, Money, Money, Money

Portia has finally gotten her man. Being a mother, wife and author is not easy, but the fabulous life she lives is well worth everything she has been through to be with him. Even that horrid event that could have ended with the loss of her life has not stopped her from being blessed. Portia and her girls have weathered their storms, but as usual, life always has a way of making things bumpy. Will Portia finally give up on a better life and resort to what she knows best?

Jay has grown a lot since being in the game and full of thuggary. Able to have a lucrative music business, Jay has made wise investments and made he and his family's life worthy. His boys, Casino and Wise, are living lovely and eating, so life is sitting pretty. As the old saying goes, "sometimes it's nothing but the devil." Jay's limits are tested and his life is put once again on the line. Will his love for the streets ruin everything that he and his guys have worked so hard for?

Caroline is truly talented. I do have to admit, though, that the premier of this series was a little better. Whereas "A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent" had me hooked from beginning to end, this one just had me hooked. I have a really low opinion of authors when it comes to sequels because in many cases it leaves you guessing if they had a ghostwriter or not. Caroline McGill proves the opposite. Her talent is limitless and for me stands at center stage.

Profitable Power Moves

A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT II picks up five years later. Love and happiness is a good fit for Portia and Jay. While the brutal rape and attack are still apart of her psyche, she not only learned that Jay’s love was boundless, but was blessed with a beautiful bundle of love. Portia’s time is spent being a wife, mother, friend, daughter as well as an author. With thuggin’ in his rearview mirror, Jay is now a savvy business man nurturing and growing his success. When a decision Jay makes costs someone their life, someone has to pay. Is Jay willing to risk his freedom, family and life for that?

Laila and Khalil may not be sharing the same spoils from success and love as her sister friends. A failed business woman she’s now working as a nurse. Khalil has stepped it up from just drinking to full blown crack addiction. Their youngest daughter, Pebbles, is a little too fast for her own good. Even with all of the chaos in her life, Laila oftentimes finds herself wondering ‘what if’ she and Casino never would’ve parted. Does she still have a chance?

Slim and trim, Fatima is now phat in a good way. Married, she and Wise are living well. Wise is an entertainer and he can have whatever he likes and usually does knowing that with Fatima there will be hell to pay. Although Fatima is home wishing she could keep her man monogamous, he’s not the only one stepping out. Will infidelity stunt their marriage?

I’ve had A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT II about two years. When I saw part III was out I decided to finally open it. While I’ll agree it was highly anticipated, it failed in delivery for me. The editing is without a doubt horrible! It’s repetitive and there are spans of narrations that become nerve wrecking. Obviously there is some growth from each character, but it still didn’t seem that much different from the original. With that said, I will read part III in hopes that Caroline has formulated a good comeback.

As I’ve stated prior, I have a high regard for Caroline McGill and her stance and support for HIV/AIDS awareness.

That's What's Up!

In A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT PART II, Caroline McGill offers readers a look again into the lives of best friends Portia, Laila and Fatima. Their friendship has survived the test of time, drama, pain and even death. But are they ready for what life has in store for them next?

Portia has it all. She has a beautiful, spacious home, two loving children and her king in her husband, Jay. Jay, a reformed thug, is now part owner in Street Life Entertainment Inc., a thriving and much sought after record company. True to the company's name, street life seems to follow Jay. Now a respected businessman, will the lure of the streets shatter their happiness?

Laila felt she made the right decision in ending her affair with Casino (MY BABY!!) and working on saving her marriage. Now that her marriage is failing, she can't help but question whether or not she made the right decision. Is Casino, now a married man, the answer?

Fatima and Wise are living happily ever after, or are they? Wise is a good provider and father but falls short in the good husband department. He can't seem to keep his pants zipped and all his indiscretions are taking a toll on Fatima and their marriage. Has Fatima reached her breaking point?

Caroline McGill has again dropped something for the grown and sexy. Though many try, quite a few fail with producing an entertaining sequel. McGill is not of that number. The returning cast of characters, flawed and vividly portrayed, withstands the test. Her new novel is filled with intrigue, drama, and sex appeal. McGill's calling card of HIV/AIDS awareness is also present and woven into the storyline. Money talked and bullsh*t walked! Can't wait for Part III and my boo, Cas.

Five years later the characters that we have fallen in love with is back.

Portia has turned her life around. She traded in her night life shoes as a stripper to become a loving wife ,mother and respected author of 3 books. Life couldn't be better for her and her husband Jay.Once jay received some painful news he has to go back to the life he once knew. Will Jay be able to handle what life has thrown at him or finally succumb to the life he was trying to leave behind?

Laila Atkins is trying to get on the right track after a love affair that make her realize she might lose her husband. Things seem to be going well until she find out that her husband has a serious habit that she can not deal with. will Laila decide to stick by him or go back to where she found happiness?

Fatima gave up her life of taking care of men when she met one Jays friends. Wise marries her and shows her how a women should be treated.Fatima find out some know that finally makes her fed up but she is no saint herself. Will they be able to mend their broken marriage or will the lies make it to much to repair?

This book was off the chain!!!!!!! I couldn't wait to see what was going on with these characters. This book will have you on a roller coaster filled with emotions. I can't believed how it ended. I'm still nervous.

Introduction:
A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent part 2: Money Talks… Bullshit Walks by Caroline McGill is interesting and exciting book to read. Caroline McGill did a good job. I enjoyed reading this book because it’s well-written, vibe and well-characters.

Like:

Portia is a former stripper and lap dance. Her life has change when she has a good man and wonderful family. Being a mother and wife is not easy for her because she lost her mother and her niece Pebbles at the same time. Now, she is author and she is a wonderful wife to Jay. Jay always be there for her and support her.

Laila is a good mother to her two daughters Macy and Pebbles. She is over-protecting to her daughters. She is a good friends to Fatima and Portia. She is also good sister to Fatima.

Fatima is also a great friends to Portia and Laila. She used to men for money and help her to pay her bills. When her life change, she found love with Jay’s homeboy Wise. She is a good mother to her daughter.

Dislike:

I don’t understand why did Portia tell Laila about pregnancy with Laila’s ex husband Khalil. She was wrong for keep secret from Laila in six years.

Khalil needs to get him together because he lost everything in his life. He should be help Laila out with the bills and be a good father to his daughters but he went out and do something stupid to himself.

Kira needs to get herself together because she didn’t act like to be wife to Casino but she was pay attention to this young dude name Young Vee. Laila should be Casino’s wife than Kira because Laila is a good woman and showing him attention.

I don’t have no comment for Jay, Wise and Hop.

Sad:

I felt bad what’s happen to Pebbles, Portia’s mother and Wise because they didn’t deserve to die. Also, I felt bad what’s happen to Laila because she had been through from she lost her daughter to major of car accidents. She is one of my favorite character.

Conclusion:
In the beginning of this book, it was slow and steady but it was starting good in the end. It is dealing with emotion, regret, revenge, sadness, love, friendship, haters and many more. I enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Caroline McGill did a good job. She deserves a five stars from me because this is second book that made me cry and shut me down. She is never disappointed me. I will definitely continue to reading her book. I will looking forward to read Part 3 of A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent. I want to hearing what’s going on with this weird characters.
