'Trafficking for Old Game, New Name' reveals an ugly industry - the exploitation of beggars as a form of human trafficking. Apart from the legal and social discussion, the study looks into psychological theories as to why people give money to beggars suggesting ideas for public campaign messages that can break the exploitative cycle of trafficking for begging.
The book starts off with a captivating narrative, but then quickly turns into an impersonal research paper. It is a great resource of information but not an easy read. Adding specific examples or personal accounts here and there might have made it easier to keep interest up. I did finish the book and it did raise interesting questions and points. I have a much better understanding of how professional begging works now and the bibliography at the end is a very good source for those that want to learn more.
