God Works the Night Shift: Acts of Love Your Father Performs Even While You Sleep

Rate this book
Sometimes we feel that God is working by leaps and bounds in the lives of others, but not in our own. Especially when we are going through difficult times, it may seem as though other people have been richly blessed-while our own lives are completely empty. But Ron Mehl assures readers that despite the way things sometimes appear, God is continually at work in their lives, reminding them that God often does his best works in the darkness. As men and women take a closer look at the God who works the night shift, they will learn about the unceasing acts of love he performs for them, every moment of their lives...even while they sleep.

I was surprised to like this book so much, but I really did. I just found it to be a sweet, encouraging read with sound Scripture references. What a wonderful reminder, especially in this time of uncertainty, of all the ways God draws us close to him and continues his work in us when we don't realize he's there or when we're too distracted to notice and how in that work, we finally do end up noticing and seek his presence all the more.

I would recommend this book to anyone, whether you are going through a rough spot or not. Being reminded of God's grace, faithfulness, and discipline in love to us, in all things, is never a bad thing.

A friend recommended this book when my husband faced major surgery. I'd pass along the recommendation as a valuable reminder that our God is always on task, knows what we need when we need it and generously meets our need. This was a great book to pick up every morning and be reminded of the truths I've been taught since childhood, but have tested for their reliability as I've matured.

I read this book many years ago, and I really enjoyed the comforting message of the book. I had forgotten about it. Then just the other day I saw it on a friend's bookshelf. It just reminded me of another wonderful book that I had read, and in truth, I may read it again in the near future.

This book was first recommended to me when my husband and I worked as home staff missionaries. We were having a little ladies tea party for a returning lady from the field that had experienced a rough term. She said another missionary had given this book to her. She had felt “broken” and worn out spiritually as well as emotionally. She said God had used this book to help bring about healing and renewal. I have turned to the wisdom and comfort of Ron Mehl in this book many times over the years. It has never failed me because he bases all his advice from the Scripture. God's Word never fails!,
I recommend reading one chapter (they are just a few pages) at bedtime every night. What is so wonderful about this book is that each chapter is a reminder of the different ways God loves and cares for His beloved. The great thing is, that each chapter can stand on its own, so if you skip a night or two you don’t have to go back and try to pick up the thread.
Unfortunately, this book is now out of print, but you can occasionally get a pretty good used copy from Amazon.

Excellent book, this book reminds us to have faith in the God that never sleeps. God works on our behalf at all times is faithful to us at all times. We can trust that our very best is God's goal; all that we are experiencing is for our ultimate good. I have cancer and I have counted over 50 blessings since I read this book that God has put in my life...I am still counting and it feels good to see what God is doing!

This is a great book of short stories that I found so well written and easy to read that I have given the book as a present. It is encouraging...especially to those who may feel they are all alone. Our Father takes great care of us...I'm thankful!

My sister-in-law gave me this book many years ago when I was facing uncertainty of my health. It was such a comfort to know that even when I am not praying or am unable to pray that Jesus is interceding on my behalf. It was a real comfort.

I read this book many years ago during a very dark time in my life and I guess it was just great to know that He was there.
