An enjoyable story, in verse, about a little Desert packrat who bravely goes out in the desert to search for a special gift for her Nana. Children can search the illustrated rooms of Penny's huge underground nest, for all the things she has collected. A realization for many, of how "stuff" is lost or discarded around the countryside of our earth. The Words to Learn and a bio about Packrats is informative.

Cute story. I read this to a small group of preschoolers at our local botanical garden.

Wonderfully written story about a a desert pack rat. The illustrations are breath taking.

Entertaining and educational. The "Words to Learn" and the facts about the White-Throated Wood Rat at the back of the book offer easy to understand information.

This was a great find at the Ocotillo Wells Discovery Center.
