Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a monster's classified file with information about where they are found, what they look like, and a unique fact about them. The book also includes a map of the monsters and where they have been "spotted" around the world!
This is a really cute way to introduce children to cryptids, although I felt that some of the descriptions were inaccurate, for the sake of making it kid friendly. Regardless, I loved the illustrations and had a lot of fun reading it.
Starts with several expository pages that nearly made me quit reading this one. Glad I stuck it out because the 26 cryptids presented are lots of fun and some are downright cute.
Inaccurate information. I understand that this book is about creatures that have not been proven to exist. So, who am I to declare that the information is inaccurate? I am basing my claim on hundreds of years of folklore. For example, according to one researcher, the Yeti was a part of the pre-Buddhist beliefs of several Himalayan people. And he is supposed to be quite fierce, occasionally attacking and devouring humans. Instead of writing that the Yeti is "very safe" and "The Cuddliest" monster, the author could have written a little more about these creatures' origin stories or what real animals (some now extinct) were the cause of their sightings.

An alphabetical catalogue of monsters. Each page has a monster that starts with a sequential letter of the alphabet, and facts about the monster. It's an interesting concept but doesn't necessarily work as a great read aloud.
