'Suni Ghati Ka Suraj' is a poignant tale of a poor boy trying to define his destiny the only way he can, by trying to educate himself. There are many who try to help him on the way, but each noble soul trying to help him also tries to extract a price for their goodness. The writer lays bare the hollowness of the morals and the idealism our society considers so sacred. In the end the protagonist turns his back to his own dreams and decides go back and join a village school.
In his failed dreams, one is forced to admit the failure of a society that hinders scores of people from living their dreams because 'capability', 'merits' and such terms are defined by the privileged, too scared to lose their own privilege.
