An experienced child photographer offers an easy-to-follow guide to family photography that explains how to take pictures like a professional, with helpful tips on do's and don'ts, photographic techniques, special effects, candid and formal photographs, and more.
I wasn't going to purchase this book since I do not have children of my own to photograph all the time, but I am really glad I did. This book, like Kelsh's How to Photograph Your Life, really opens your mind and eye up to taking better and more meaningful photographs of your loved ones and moments that should be captured on film. Many helpful hints and suggestions on how to capture a meaningful shot. Many questions and exercises are given for you to learn from and discover your photography skills.
About 1 hour to read and geared more towards the budding family photographer or someone just getting into photography.
I like how Mr. Kelsh points out both common mistakes family photographers make and shows ways to improve your pictures (things like zooming in on your subject, how to place group shots, and a bit on lighting).
I would recommend this book to anyone who's just getting into photography as quick but good read.
Anyone who's take photography classes or done extensive reading on photograhpy may not get as much out of the book, but it is a good refresher.
practical tips... for the beginner to intermediate photographer, i'd recommend this book. i liked the visuals. bought this book, as well as many books, from costco.
