Never did I know that this book has less than 100 ratings on GoodReads. Mine being 99th. I really don't know how did this book end up on my bookshelf. It was really my mistake alone to pick this book. The moment I saw the bookcover, I just bought it without any second thought; simply hoping this book would be good. And now I suffer.
Written in 1987 even before I was born. And then Pocket Books printed this in 2010; I assume not aware that no one read it even before they purchased the rights to publish it. It took me a gruelling 3 months to finish this book. So bad. Once I pick a book, there is a 99% possibility that I'll finish it just to give every author a fair chance with my review. So, once I was done finishing this book, I opened up the internet, and googled for a Wiki Page on the author. To my disappointment, I found none. Luckily Google Books had a page, but it was too short to disclose any information. Our lifetime is limited. And if we end up with books like these, I doubt if we all are making the most out of our lives. There are so many many good and great and invaluable books out there, we don't even know about. And I, a fool, ended up with this.
The story is about a Russian scientist defecting, and a Sergeant-Major and his team in the SAS is given the responsibility to safely deliver the scientist to Britain, smuggling his from the icy mountains of Switzerland and Norway. If at all they make a movie out of this book, only the scenic landscapes should comfort you the 3 hours of gruelsome torture this story will shower upon you.
Not recommended while being sorry for spending my invaluable time on this tragedy.

one of the best books i've ever read, all of this author is a great read. A MUST FOR ALL SHELVES ...

Good action and thriller, but the end was a bit ho-hum.
