Three hot stories with warm HEAs. If you're a fan of military men erotica...don't miss this one.
This book is a three story anthology. The stories are all connected because the first story is about the parents, meeting and falling in love. The second is about the son and the third the daughter. It is a military based romance and I liked all of the stories written in this book. If you are offended by strong language or explict sex, this book is not for you. I liked this book because the characters were well thought out and the stories were woven in together, even though they were written by different authors. If you like military based romances this book is definately for you.
This three-book anthology takes you from the Vietnam War to Desert Storm to right here at home showing you how a life in the military affects the person, those he or she loves, and how vital a role each military person plays.
Our first story is His Sister's Kiss. When Abe brings news to Angela of her brother's death and last wishes she is drawn to him. On leave due to injuries sustained as a POW, Abe has ample free time. So when Angela invites him for Christmas at her home, he accepts. Her brother's daughter whom Angela is raising takes to him like a duck to water, despite his size and injuries. As Abe, Angela and the little girl spend more time together Abe and Angela fall in love and the little girl becomes attached. As they are planning their wedding, Abe gets called back up suddenly and the wedding becomes a rushed affair. Can their love survive worry, war, distance, and infrequent letters? It does and when Abe returns they start their own family journey.
A sweet story, with a lot of heart and the realities of war for both soldiers AND their families. I was surprised by the war choice but loved the romance. A man with no family, goes on a mission to tell his buddy's family what had happened, and gains his own family. Awww...!
Our second story is Major Pleasure. When special forces Major Blayne is injured in Desert Storm and becomes ill, he's sent stateside to recuperate. The younger sister of his closest friend Graham, happens upon him at a weak moment when he first arrives back and takes care of him. Jemma and Blayne are trapped in his apartment overnight by a snowstorm and are then forced to confront their long-simmering attraction and feelings for each other. Unsurprisingly they freak out, but then ultimately find their way back to happiness.
I found this romance to realistically show the fears and toll loving a military man takes on those who love him. The story was hot, emotional, sweet, and fulfilling.
Our third and final story is Charming Annie. When terrorists take over Walter Reed Medical Center, Army nurse Annie and helicopter pilot patient Mason/Mace are trapped in the building but free of the enemy. Working together, they thwart the terrorists, comfort each other, and reveal deeply held secrets. Surprisingly, by the time they are rescued they have fallen in love. But nothing is that easy and both doubt if the other returns their love.
I loved the adrenaline-fueled, fast-paced, mystery of who took over the hospital and why. I found the backwards love story unique, believable, and honest not to mention thoroughly fun to read. The idea of homeground being vulnerable to attack was utterly terrifying but possible not to mention the instinct to fight back realistic. It was also gratifying to see them try despite being unskilled and scared--that's true heroism.
Very enjoyable anthology of three novellas about members of the same family although of different generations. Usually, I'm not too keen on military themes, but I liked these all equally well as they had intriguing plots and characters I connected with. These couples sure did have the hots for each other! The sex was plentiful and smoothly written, and Agnew's Major Pleasure was definitely the most smoking of the three. The only thing that had me scratching my head was the title His Sister's Kiss, which suggests a whole different connotation than what was intended, I think. Otherwise a wonderful treat at a solid four stars.
3 stories by 3 authors about members of the same family. The first story is about how the parents met during the Vietnam war. The other two stories are about their two biological children.
3 stars each for the first two stories. 4 stars for the last.
I would have liked to see Polly have her own short story. I thought it was weird that she wasn't included, since she played a larger role in the first story than either of the two children.
