This is an enjoyable, if slight, read: a love story set against the backdrop of Salazar-era Portugal. There's sunshine and romance and a dog and it's written with a nice ear for dialogue. There's not very much substance here, but for a quick beach read, say, it conveys a sense of place and time with enthusiasm and warmth.
Witty, uncomplicated love story set in a tumultuous Portugal. Good for those days when you simply want a break from the news and reminisce about the last time you roamed streets of Lisboa.
This small book is a gem. It is a quick, passionate read set during the 1974 revolution in Portugal. There is atmosphere, desire, coming of age, love, and history all in a brief cassoulet. I enjoyed it finishing it in a couple of hours.
