This irresistibly icky book will appeal to kids' love of all things nasty while charming parents with its wit and energy. Adorable artwork on every spread accompanies simple text. Swallowing a worm, smelling a sock, playing in the cat litter . . . That's Disgusting !
Not for the faint of heart, this kid approved book focuses on a love of all things icky and gross. Firmly focused on fun, That's Disgusting! is the perfect distraction to help your young gross out expert learn to read.

Okay, the title says it all for this one. It has some cute pictures to go along with things everyone ought to know are disgusting. Reading to my 4-year old is funny though. For the pages of things she has done or currently does, she will still silent. But every other page she will shout out "That's digusting!" Silly girl.
This book is deliciously naughty. Very French in its humour, the book has the repeating refrain 'That's disgusting' on the recto of each page and on the verso an action performed by an extremely delighted young girl. Actions that start off mild 'smelling a sock'...'that's disgusting', gradually become more indecorous 'sticking your finger up a cat's bum'...'that's disgusting'. Obviously, I bought this book immediately after a student placed it in my hands and needless to say both my four and three year old absolutely adore it. Why? Because they know they shouldn't. What fun!
A book that can certainly make people feel something. Most likely nausea. And a little bit of giggle reflex. This book is is no way, shape or form didactic and probably has no place in a classroom, but it can do a great job of highlighting some bad habits to children. By mixing in a few things that kids actually do, amongst other scenes which all kids would definitely agree are truly disgusting, it can increase awareness of their own habits being a little disgusting too. I'd prefer to see more of a story but I can see the merits of this format as well. Personally, I find it a little creepy that the character has a huge grin in all of the illustrations.
I think it'd be fine to read this book at home. It's sort of interesting the way it takes really gross stuff and mixes it with stuff that kids tend to do (that is considered gross). I'm not against potty humor at all, but I also didn't find this book all that amusing myself. And I wondered if kids really would as they might not totally get the contextual things . . . Also, I think sticking your finger in a cat's butt is not disgusting so much as really awful to the animal. "That's cruel!" I'd say.
This is a quick simple childrens picture book. Each page shows the same child engaging in some kind of "disgusting" behavior.. and though it starts out as just everyday things like getting gum in her hair.. she quickly moves in to far more disgusting things like taking a dump in the tub.. and the best part about all of this is the pictures... because not only does she behave in a "disgusting" way.. she does it all with a smile..
It gets better as you go, or I could say it gets more disgusting as you go. I purchased from Book Depot for about $2. It's really kind of cute in a disgusting way. The drawings are wonderful. However, a few of the disgusting pages make it impossible to put in an elementary school library -- would lead to phone calls from parents for sure. Staff that I showed it to were disgusted ... in a good way. Many laughs.
First read in San Francisco with one of my best friends and her two-year old daughter, I think these books have some of the best children's illustrations ever!
I think the punchline at the end is a little weak but the rest is pure gold. Basically it's a whole list of disgusting things. My 5 year old LOVED it and I've had to read it over and over again.
