Gecko
Jim Monday's wife left him for a slick doctor who wants his money more than his wife, so he hires his best friend as his lawyer, who is killed before his eyes. Jim attacks the doctor for the crime and is arrested. He knows the doctor did it, but has no proof. While in jail he learns how evil the doctor really is. He has to get out, has to rescue his wife from a horrible fate. But it won't easy as the doctor calls forth an ancient horror as evil as Lucifer himself. Jim escapes and goes after the doctor with the police hot on his trail. He knows what's after him, but he has no idea about what's ahead.

Nary a dull moment in this horror yarn about a California man, Jim Monday, with the spirit of a captive woman across the world thrust inside him. Meanwhile, his wife has left him for a perverted German doctor. Ratcheting the conflicts, Sawbones has summoned two ancient gecko creatures, one that kept making me think of that little green guy that runs around in GEICO commercials (not scary) and another that could have come, fangs dripping, out of a Godzilla versus movie (nightmarish). This novel feels at times like a thriller with a policeman and his horny daughter trying to clear the main character of the criminal carnage that the doctor and the creature leave behind. Does this sound bizarre? Yeah, it is.
But kudos to the author for somehow making most of this work. There's action, thrills, a few creepy scenes (a cemetery scene!), sex, more sex, gore and some fairly good characterization. I could have used a coda, as the ending was a little too Hollywood horror, but that, too, worked. I found the woman inside Jim Monday's body speaking to him through dialogue somewhat jarring (wouldn't italics have been less confusing?) but this is a stylistic choice that the reader does get used to.
What a strange, albeit fulfilling, read. The writing was fluid and the Kindle formatting was good. Recommended for those who like horror that leans more on the bizarro side (although I don't think it's intended to be bizarro). Curious read!

Great book
I read it in two sittings could not put it down. The only reason I put it down before the second sitting was because I fell asleep. I felt the writing was very good. I recommend this book.

Good, fast paced horror.

From start to finish this book kept me reading. This was a short book but so much was at stake for the main character and I had to read this in one go.
