Frozen in stasis for one thousand years, Edna has no memory of who she was or where she came from. Her past has been erased as punishment for a long-forgotten crime. Now reborn—and reprogrammed—she has been chosen to infiltrate the vast communications monopoly of the Godheads' Net and to use its secrets to empower Earth.
But as Edna embarks for the enigmatic GodWorld, a greater mystery unfolds. Her allies become her deadliest enemies, her memories begin to surface, and the true nature of her mission becomes as inescapable as the Web itself. For the secret locked away in Edna's mind can change the future—and if the Godheads find it first, the universe will never be the same...
Look for MEDUSA UPLOADED, published by Tor, available in paper, ebook, and audio. MEDUSA IN THE GRAVEYARD is due out from Tor in July 2019.
I've been published under three pen names: as Emily Devenport, I wrote SHADE, LARISSA, SCORPIANNE, EGGHEADS, THE KRONOS CONDITION, and GODHEADS. As Maggy Thomas, I wrote BROKEN TIME, which was nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award. As Lee Hogan I wrote BELARUS and ENEMIES. My books have been published in the U.S., the U.K., Italy, and Israel. I'm writing as Emily Devenport again, and I have two titles available exclusively in ebook: THE NIGHT SHIFTERS and SPIRITS OF GLORY. (Okay -- almost exclusively. TNS is also available in audio.)
I'm an undergraduate studying Geology, a volunteer at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, and a buyer for the Heard Museum book store.
At first I was very intrigued... the characters had so much potential!! Halfway through (spoiler) when confronted with split personalities, I was even more sucked in and read as often as possible to find out the plot!! As I began to get through the last quarter of the book I was feeling drained, too many weird turns and it began to be frustrating trying to keep track of who was who. In the end, I just wanted it over with and I was sorely disappointed.
I liked this a little bit more than eggheads, because the characters were more consistent, and there were a couple interesting reveals. I like what the "godnet" turned into, and the dollhouse-like tones of operations at OMSK.
