Children’s book author/illustrator Nicolette Weatherspoon is a professional success. But at 36 years old, her biological clock is ticking like a time bomb and her boyfriend, almost-perfect Tom Nygaard, can’t decide if he wants to get married—let alone start a family.

Maybe Tom needs to have a chance to miss her, Nicki decides. Escaping to Nevada City in California’s gold country for the Christmas season, Nicki serves holiday teas at the fancy restaurant that inspired her best-selling picture book series. But she doesn’t bargain for the “help” of two self-appointed angels who don’t think Tom deserves her, a real life angel who makes her a promise that has her over the moon with joy, and most of all, Parker McPhee—the dear, dusty, rumpled teddy-bear of a man who worms his way into her heart without even trying.

When Tom finally makes up his mind that he doesn’t want to lose Nicki, she faces a decision she never contemplated. How will she choose? How can she?

With a flair for the dramatic, Barbara engages, entertains, educates and inspires her audiences. She has taught at the preschool, middle school and community college levels and most recently worked in an elementary school as author-in-residence, program facilitator and parent educator. She has also written marketing copy and edited manuscripts for numerous trade publishers. Her picture books include the award-winning Jitterbug Jam: A Monster Tale and The Secret Life of Walter Kitty. Barbara lives in Oxnard, California.

A delightful Christmas story about a writer and a bookseller who are made for one another. But they need a little help from his daughter and her grandmother before they quite realize it. Lovely story.

This is a short story, making for a quick read, but I found it to be absolutely charming. It has lots of what I enjoy in a cozy narrative: faith, good tea, Victorian Christmas decor, romance, a precocious yet adorable child, and even a great cat with plenty of attitude. If any of those appeal to you, track down a copy of this - you won't be disappointed.
