Oh, my goodness. The drama of this volume was insane, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The tension is rising between Hunny and Mori after their fight is scheduled for the day before graduation. The entire school is abuzz; it's on the front page of the school's newspaper, people are placing bets and Tamaki is practically in mourning over all this drama happening just before the school year ends. But, it seems as if Hunny and Mori are completely fine with all of this. They both vow to each other that they won't hold back against one another. The day is finally here. The entire school has gathered to the windswept ridge to watch the battle. It's an 'anything goes' type of match and if they leave the ring, or stay on the ground for over 20 seconds, their opponent wins. The match begins and Hunny attacks Mori right away, but Mori deflects his blows perfectly. He grabs Hunny mid-kick and tries to pin him to the ground, but they both land on their feet. Hunny unsheathes his kendo stick and Mori does the same, then Hunny throws bunny-themed shruriken at his foe, which Mori blocks, but it leaves him wide open! Hunny kicks Mori to the ground, but when he tries to repeat the attack, Mori is able to grab Hunny mid-air, once more, and places him down just outside of the ring. Mori has won his match against Hunny. Many characters speculated what gripe Mori has with Hunny that would cause him to start this entire thing. After winning the match, Mori whips out a letter he's written to Hunny, asking that he remembers to brush his teeth everyday and to lay off the cake for his health, but his final request is met with a bit more push back. The final thing Mori asks of Hunny is to stop bringing Bun-Bun to school now that he's an adult, but since Mori won the fight, Hunny relents and accepts his requests. Everyone realizes that Hunny and Mori mostly faked this fight like the Twins used to do and revealed that they wanted to do one last fun thing with everyone. At the graduation party, Hunny and Mori reveal one more thing. They won't exactly be leaving the Host Club and they'll still come by whenever they have time and Hunny only made their graduating a big deal so Haruhi would make cookies for him. Overjoyed by the news, Tamaki runs to the cooking class room where Haruhi is, but on his way he bumps into her and she ends up dropping the cookies everywhere! They both go to pick them up, but after telling Haruhi about the good news, she turns toward him and they accidentally kiss! In the moment, neither of them seem to react to it at first just brush it off as an accident, but when Tamaki leaves, they both start freaking out by themselves. Tamaki even ends up running 25 laps around the school. But after such a sweet moment, we get an ominous message for the future of the Host Club and how the doors of Music Room 3 wouldn't open, even after the new school year starts. Spring Break is here and Tamaki has been up all night after the big kiss. He's been fervently trying to call Kyoya since 7:30 AM to talk about what happened, but he isn't answering. Tamaki can't help but think that Haruhi doesn't care about what happened, but his pondering is interrupted when a messenger from the Main Suoh Mansion comes by with news. In the Fujioka Household, Haruhi stayed in bed all night reading shojo manga trying to figure out what to do. When she finally crawls out of her futon, her father has already made breakfast for her, but she can't stop thinking about the kiss. She tries to ask her Dad about his first kiss with her Mom, but chickens out and runs away without telling him. Kyoya finally wakes up at 11 AM and sees the myriad of missed calls from Tamaki, but is soon distracted by the fact that Kaoru has snuck into his room while he was asleep. He's here to discuss what they were talking about at the Botanical Garden about Kosaka. We see a pretty goofy side to Kosaka when she obsesses over the packaging of her fish sausages, but she reveals that Tamaki's grandmother has finally accepted him after the kidnapping incident. Meanwhile, Kyoya and Kaoru commiserate about what they've learn about Kosaka. They surmise that she's only after money and if the Chairman knew about what she was doing, she couldn't be doing anything to harm Tamaki, but Kyoya doesn't think that the Chairman truly cares for Tamaki's wellbeing due to his Grandmother's treatment of him. The most suspicious thing about the Suoh Family is all of the people that have gone missing after working for them. Several people that have close ties to the Suoh Family have disappeared, including the doctor that diagnosed Tamaki's mother. After looking into her supposed disease, Kyoya learns that there is no cure for it and those that have it deteriorate the longer they have it, but Tamaki's mother seemed to be in perfect health. This leads me to believe that Tamaki's grandmother and father have been lying to him about his mother's wellbeing in order to keep him under their thumb and see if he's worthy of becoming the heir to the Suoh Enterprise. But the events that happen later on in this volume lead me to believe that Haruhi's mother worked for the Suoh's and her death was staged. My mind was absolutely racing when I learned all the shady stuff going on with the Suoh's and I kind of hope Haruhi's mother is out there waiting to reunite with her family. Tamaki shows up at Haruhi's house to tell her that he's finally moving into the Main Mansion. She's too flustered to actually face him, but this is the last time Haruhi and Tamaki will spend together. Kyoya has informed the rest of the Hosts about Kosaka's shadiness and he reveals that the Host Club holds a special place to him and he would do anything for Tamaki. After Kaoru leaves, Kyoya finally answers Tamaki's incessant calling, but his face drops after hearing the news of Tamaki moving into the Main Mansion. When he arrives to the Main Mansion, we see Tamaki's Grandmother telling her servants that she still hasn't accepted him and is only bringing him closer, so he stays in check. Kyoya can't reach Tamaki, so he runs to the Second Mansion to try to reach him, when he sees that the servants are already packing all of Tamaki's things and that they will no longer serve the Second Mansion. Tamaki tries bonding with his Grandmother and asks if he can bring his servants and Antoinette, but she brushes him off. It's so cruel that she took Antoinette away from Tamaki, since it's the last thing that links him to his mother. Tamaki is essentially isolated due to his Grandmother's orders and locked in his new bedroom, but he still tries to make the best of things. When the new school year starts, Haruhi is determined to talk to Tamaki, since she hasn't spoken to him since he moved into the Main Mansion, but as soon as she enters Ouran, Renge meets her with some terrible news. The Host Club is on Hiatus. Apparently, Tamaki is unable to attend club activities and Music Room 3 has closed, no doubt because of the Chairman. Everyone is kind of bummed about the situation, but Tamaki seems to be in high spirits despite everything. He asks to have lunch with the Hosts, but with the club closed, all of their customers are bombarding Tamaki and the Hosts are unable to talk to him for a full week. Tamaki is completely exhausted by his new workload and he doesn't seem to have any respite before his Grandmother calls for him. She asks if he's changed his mind about the path he's on and he says no, so she tells him that there is something he needs to do. Tamaki must quit the Host Club. For the first time since the last school year, the Host Club is back together for a private lunch with Haruhi making all of their favorite foods. They're having lunch in the garden without any interruption from their former customers. They're all having an amazing time, but something is off about Tamaki. He tells them that he's quitting the Host Club, but it's his decision, not his grandmother's. Everyone begs him not to, but he brushes them off saying that he leaves the club in Kyoya's hands, but immediately goes to Haruhi. He tells her it's okay to quit the Host Club and that he's sorry that he ever forced her into it. He repays her remaining debt, but as he leaves, Haruhi tells him to explain himself. He coldly tells her that it's none of her business and leaves. Haruhi runs off and the rest of the club chases after her except for Kyoya, who finds Tamaki in a puddle of his own tears. He tells Kyoya what his Grandmother told him and it's awful. She uses Haruhi like a bargaining chip and tells Tamaki that she'll take away her scholarship unless her severs all ties to her. Haruhi is a person of action, so she decides that she needs to go ask Tamaki's Grandmother herself about everything that's going on. Haruhi, the Twins and the Graduates march down to the Suoh's main office and demands to speak with the Director, and they call so much of a commotion that Tamaki's father comes in to shut them up. Meanwhile, Haruhi's father gets another visit from Kosaka, but she tries to bribe him into letting Haruhi become a foreign exchange student in America, but he tells her to get out. The Chairman tells the Hosts that he's happy that they're Tamaki's friends, but they're getting in the way of his plans. Before he can elaborate, Tamaki and Kyoya burst in. Tamaki starts berating Haruhi and tells her that she's being a nuisance, so she and the Hosts leave and she returns home, while trying to comfort herself through a thunderstorm. Oh, my god. This volume was crazy, but we get a great extra about Haruhi's parents. It was so sweet getting to see them fall in love with one another and I would honestly read a whole series about them starting their family. We also get an extra about Hikaru and Kaoru's Grandmother, which was pretty sweet, but I'm still so rattled by the main story! AHH!
