Things are starting to get serious and it's all so sad. It feels so unfair to Tamaki, the responsible for uniting all the characters, to have to abandon them. I want fluffiness again!!!

Wow! The series is starting to get serious. I suppose I should have expected as much as we get closer and closer to the end.

Likes:
~The romance
~The love triangle
~Kyoya (lol)
~The artwork
~All the different kinds of connections found between the characters and the depths they can have while still retaining a humorous atmosphere.

Dislikes:
~Tamaki can get annoying
~Haruhi can be too apathetic

How I choose my rating:
1* Didn't like it at all. These are rare as I usually just don't finish any book I dislike this much.
2** Didn't like it. Again usually DNF if I dislike it this much, but occasionally I feel it still has potential and I try to stick with it to the end.
3*** I liked it. It wasn't great but it was enjoyable enough. It is unlikely I'll ever reread it but I might finish the series if it is a part of one.
4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this at some point, and I will almost always finish the series if part of one.
5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will probably reread this and possibly more than once. I will definitely finish the series if it's part of one.

So this is a review for the overall series. Let me just sy that it was soooo amazing! It was funny, violent and romantic at times. It had everything a good manga needs!!

So I knew from the beginning that Tamaki love Haruhi. His depression whenever someone touched her was so hilarious and cute! He would sit in a corner some where and just mourn in his sorrows. LOL

I have to say that the twins were my favourite characters. They are so michievious and sneaky it made me laugh so hard at times. Like when they pretended to hate each other and when they would snoop in other people's conversation. Not to mention they are so cute! LOL, they are not even real. They are really clever and great actors. Their bestest friend besides each other is Haruhi. They start liking her because she can tell both of them aprat while no one else can. Throughout the series, they both grow loving feelings toward Haruhi. Although, Kaoru backs off so that Hikaru can learn what it is to love (Kaoru still loves Haruhi though). ;D

Haruhi is a great character! I love her personality and I wouldn't mind if I had her personality myself. She's pretty and smart and a very calm person. I know that in the end she ends up with Tamaki but I kinda wish she ended up with Hikaru. I think it would be interesting to see Tamaki and how he acts toward Haruhi and Hikaru's relationship(if they had one). :D I wanna go back to the fact that she is calm. Liek whenever something like "Crazy" or "embarrassing" happens to her she keeps her cool. For example,
-Haruhi is undressing and is in her bra and underwear. Ritsu walks in on her and sees her and then slams the door shut.
Her reaction? "Sorry the rooms in use." And she continues her business. To show how calm she is, let us compare her reaction to Tamaki's. I think he said something along the lines of, "How dare you? You got to see Haruhi's undressed body while none of us have seen it yet!" or something like that.
LOL Good times, good times.
Haruhi isn't really scared of anything except for thunder which is really adorable in my opinion. :) She gets really embarrassed when Tamaki tries to kiss her sometimes. LOL

Tamaki is such an hilarious idiot that he makes me love him. His cluelessness and rash thinking made the manga so live and fun. He is in love with haruhi and I'm not talking about fatherly love. He tends to mourn by himself when somethng he doesn't like happens to Haruhi. he's a ladies' man and he knows it. I guess that's why they call him king. :)

Honey is so adorable!!! he runs on 10 cakes a day LOL. His bun-bun is so adorable. He can kick your ass though. I find it funny how he is the oldest but that's just how it is. His little brother annoys me. :l

I have this subtle dislike for Kyoya. I dunno. He is supposed to be(well is) a secretive and very intelligent(is that how you spell it) guy but I really don't care for him.
...

Takashi is just awesome. Even though he doesn't have to take care of Honey, he does. Other than that, he is a quiet guy. I think his character is supposed to be intimidating from her is actually an all-around awesome guy. He is also protective of Haruhi as well. ANd he's amazing with animals! '"Is he a dove-tamer or what?!?!?"' that made me laugh. He is a great fighter too. He's just awesomeeee!

So some things that happened in the manga made me happy/smile/chuckle/die of laughter

- The games the club plays. For example,
1. Hide-and seek
2. Red Light Green Light
3. Guess Which one is Hikaru
4. Their Bets
5. Japanese Card Games
6. Who Can Find This Before the Other Person
7. Who can Figure out this Before the Other Person
8. Sports
9. ETC,ETC,ETC
I want to point out that Red Light Green light was the most hilarious game that they play. This is because whenever they play, Tamaki, Kaoru and Hikaru always make weird poses when they are supposed to pause. It is actually quite entertaining.

-Every time something bad happens to Haruhi Tamaki mourns. Or freaks out.
-Whenever someone(a guy) gets close to Haruhi Tamaki, Hikaru or Kaoru get jealous

-When the entire host club picks someone up and just runs off. It's funny :D

-When Honey beats someone up

-That time when Hikaru and Haruhi were in that net together :3

-That time when Hikaru and Haruhi went on a date
And then he came back for her beacuse there was thunder

-When someone comforts Haruhi beacuse she is scared of thunder

-When Tamaki reffered to that door as "the love door" LAWLS XD

-When Hikaru dyed his hair like blackish?

-When people yell at the host club for lying about Haruhi's gender

-That at the end of the manga, it turns out the entire host club moved to Boston!!!! :DDDDDDD :3

So yeah, that's my review. The manga was good while it lasted. Now I'm just trying to find that oneshot that was relaesed in January.
Hope you liked my review. ANd if you are reading this review in spite that it has spoilers in it and you haven't read the manga, GO READ THE MANGA!!!!!!!!! It's called Ouran High Host Club :D

The fight between Hunny and Mori was surprising. I didn’t think they would actually go through with it. I’m glad Mori won though. I think realistically he would be stronger than Hunny. The reason for the fight was hilarious.

Hunny and Mori finally graduated?! Everyone is moving up a grade?! I feel like that’s blasphemous at this point. It is a good representation of how the characters will be moving on with their lives. This is just the first taste of that unavoidable fact.

Tamaki finally moves into the main mansion! The politics going on between his grandmother and father are still confusing. I’m sure there’s some scheme going on that will be revealed soon. I feel bad for Tamaki that being able to live in the same house with his grandmother means his companions at Mansion No. 2 will no longer be able to interact with him. Even Antoinette!

Tamaki not being allowed to go back to the Host Club was unexpected! That’s just terrible. They won’t be able to hold it together without him!

This series is coming to an end and it makes me sad.

Takashi fight against honey senpai, in the end - takashi win - he read through his list of scrolls - takashi told honey senpai all the things his said before going to university. Tamaki headed to main house where his grandmother in his father lived n stayed there. During new semester - tamaki wanted to impress his grandmother but grandmother don't acknowledge his grandson. Tamaki was about his host club friends but it seems he meet all the girls who invited him to their table everyday n not meeting his friends. Kyoya & kaoru seem to catched up things about the lawyer & tamaki's family problem. Tamaki said to haruhi was so harsh because haruhi wanted to do something for tamaki. I don't know what tamaki's father planning something 🤔. It feels like the host club members been separated in their life. Takashi & honey - in different university. Tamaki & kyoya still in new class. Kaoru & hikaru still in school though but haruhi, I wondered what's she up to. Next volume pls~

I am not going to spend a long time on this. Like most manga series, I have been disappointed toward the end. Although the characters were great (well, most anyway. The main character wasn't a very bright one), especially the twins, I had trouble staying awake (and not because I was deadly tired from all the Christmas decorating!!) The first book wasn't very bright either, where the characters came across as very shallow. Then, the following eight were good but the rest was the same thing over and over again. Especially where I got to the I was really mad at Bisco Hatori. I loved the whole un-seriousness and the flippancy of the series.

And what's up with twins toward the end?

One thing I'm glad for is that Honey didn't change. He still got exited over the idea of eating cake, did awesome karate moves, and always carried that bunny rabbit. I fell in love with his cuteness (even if he is supposed to be 18) and his big heart.

All in all, I recommend the first books where all the hilarious stuff happens, cause afterward, it's nothing new and you completely loose interest.

I am now thinking that it'll turn up like Hana Yori Dango where Tukasha had to face his evil albeit well intention-ed mother to save him from poor (not really) a gold-digger girl.

Poor Tamaki is miserable. So are his friends of Host Club.

Haruhi for obvious reasons...
Kyoya though he acts bad-ass is really fond of Tamaki and he's the only one vigilant enough to figure out that Tamaki's grandmother is smothering him during his house arrest...
Hikaru and Karou miss Tamaki who was narcissist and well meaning crazy...
Mori and Honey are worried too even though they have moved to university now.

*Warning, there will be spoilers*

The stakes have risen for Ouran's plot as Tamaki continues to learn more about the importance of being a Suoh, and with that, the potential ramifications of what his current life could entail for his future if you put the classist lenses on. Him getting to move into the main mansion without the aspects from #2 he's taken for granted left me with a pool of dread in my stomach. There are also new circumstances surrounding his dad, which paints him in a different light. Does he actually care for his son at all? Was it a lie? Does he only want what's best for him, and not for his full family? It makes what Tamaki's started to understanding as an aspiration, and not a trauma, appear more murky. His found family may be more true to him than his actual family.

Tamaki pushing Haruhi away just as their romantic arc's crystalizing was painful. I'm surprised this ship is one I've become more invested in given its framing, but we're now seeing just how long the two have been caring for each other. That, combined with Haruhi's time at Ouran being put at risk, is also another red flag for the next two volumes. We'll see if I wind up like Tamaki and his tear pools by the end of this series (such a dramatic king). The claws have sunk in as they say.

As far as the characters are concerned, their general growth was fun. Part of me continues to understand why Kaoru and Kyoya are shipped together beyond when they're drawn together (Episode 73), and it makes sense that Honey and Mori wouldn't jump ship on the Host Club. Their little duel had a brief moment. I also enjoyed the bonus story with Haruhi's parents, especially given how her dad's queerness has been stigmatized in much of the franchise.

It's been five years since I finished reading the previous volume (‼) so it only makes sense that I didn't quite follow the details of what was going on in this one at first. That said, this series continues to be so good that even a five-year gap wasn't enough to keep me from enjoying it over all. Enough new things happened here that I was able to get a grasp on the developments without much issue and I was drawn into the drama just as deeply as ever. The best part was the fact that although this series has become more serious, more drama and less comedy, it still remembers its rom-com roots and even had me stopping mid-volume because I was laughing too hard to read 😂

I can't wait to read the next volume. Based on what happened this time, I'm really curious as to how quickly and satisfactorily the situation will be resolved...there are only two volumes left for it to be done in!

Re-read: September 2020
I wrote so much in my last review I'm not sure if there's anything more to say. This volume is a lot more serious than any of the previous volumes, but I still absolutely loved it! Things are finally all coming together so I'm hyped for the next two volumes!

Re-read: August 2018
I love this series so much. Just thinking about it makes me happy :)

I can never review these books properly, but I'll make a list of all the things I loved about this volume (since I didn't dislike a single thing).

- I love Kyoya. That's no secret, as I mention it in practically every Ouran review, but it's true. I found it so funny when he was taking bets on Hunny and Mori's fight. I think he really does love his friends and doesn't want them to fight, but he's also pragmatic and knows that they're both cash cows.
- Kyoya and Tamaki are complete friendship goals. They are honestly perfect, but it's so odd that they're friends. Tamaki is so light and emotional while Kyoya is so dark and expertly hides his emotions. Clearly though, they are besties. Kyoya even knew that Tamaki would be Sure, he wasn't the nicest to him, but you could tell that he cared. Their relationship shows that you don't have to be exactly like your friends to get along. Everyone in the host club is so different from each other, but they're still family :)
- Also, Kyoya admitted that the host club means a lot to him!!! He always tries to pretend that he doesn't care, so it was nice to see him express some positive emotion.
- Last thing I'm going to mention about Kyoya: I love his friendship with Kaoru.
- Haruhi is the abosolute worst at hiding her crush. (Especially from her dad!) Seriously, I swear everyone knows but them.
-
- The story about Haruhi's parents was so cute! Silly, but adorable. I already loved Haruhi's dad, and I now equally love her mom, Kotoko. I thought it was so funny that she had no idea that Haruhi's dad was in love with her! (Also, kudos to her for not being homophobic. I know that that shouldn't be impressive, but I don't see good LGBT rep in many manga series - at least in the ones I've read.) I also loved how she was 1000% capable of defending herself. She's no damsal in distress, and Ryoji is attracted to that 😂
- I really love Hunny. I didn't like him the first time I read the series, but now he's one of my favorite characters. I love how his mischievous personality shines through in this volume. He asked Kyoya if he had made a profit, so obviously he's devious enough to see the business opportunity in his fight with Mori.
- I love that Hunny was worried about Chika! Even though he has a horrible relationship with his brother I'm sure that he loves him very much.
- I like how there are no flowers around Hunny's speech-boxes when he's serious. Little details like that are what makes this series so great.
- It's no surprise that the twins ended up so messed up! Their parents are always working, their mom pretends like she can't tell them apart, and their grandmother was awful to them! Of course the last two were supposed to be signs of love and affection, but the result is that the twins believe that they are insignificant to their family. Of course they all love each other, but they need some therapy so that they can express it in a healthy way!
- It's so sweet how much Tamaki's servants care about him. (Also, I can't believe his grandmother took his dog away!)
- One thing that I love about this series that many people don't is that the drama is always undercut with comedy. The series never takes itself too seriously. For example, the final fight between Mori and Hunny was super dramatic...until the final illustration. And then it was funny again! I like that the author can make things serious when they have to be, but at heart this series is a comedy and I enjoy the overall light tone.
- All that being said, I found the final scene really sad and touching. I may have teared up a bit when , but in my defense I was severely sleep deprived.

Oh, my goodness. The drama of this volume was insane, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The tension is rising between Hunny and Mori after their fight is scheduled for the day before graduation. The entire school is abuzz; it's on the front page of the school's newspaper, people are placing bets and Tamaki is practically in mourning over all this drama happening just before the school year ends. But, it seems as if Hunny and Mori are completely fine with all of this. They both vow to each other that they won't hold back against one another. The day is finally here. The entire school has gathered to the windswept ridge to watch the battle. It's an 'anything goes' type of match and if they leave the ring, or stay on the ground for over 20 seconds, their opponent wins. The match begins and Hunny attacks Mori right away, but Mori deflects his blows perfectly. He grabs Hunny mid-kick and tries to pin him to the ground, but they both land on their feet. Hunny unsheathes his kendo stick and Mori does the same, then Hunny throws bunny-themed shruriken at his foe, which Mori blocks, but it leaves him wide open! Hunny kicks Mori to the ground, but when he tries to repeat the attack, Mori is able to grab Hunny mid-air, once more, and places him down just outside of the ring. Mori has won his match against Hunny. Many characters speculated what gripe Mori has with Hunny that would cause him to start this entire thing. After winning the match, Mori whips out a letter he's written to Hunny, asking that he remembers to brush his teeth everyday and to lay off the cake for his health, but his final request is met with a bit more push back. The final thing Mori asks of Hunny is to stop bringing Bun-Bun to school now that he's an adult, but since Mori won the fight, Hunny relents and accepts his requests. Everyone realizes that Hunny and Mori mostly faked this fight like the Twins used to do and revealed that they wanted to do one last fun thing with everyone. At the graduation party, Hunny and Mori reveal one more thing. They won't exactly be leaving the Host Club and they'll still come by whenever they have time and Hunny only made their graduating a big deal so Haruhi would make cookies for him. Overjoyed by the news, Tamaki runs to the cooking class room where Haruhi is, but on his way he bumps into her and she ends up dropping the cookies everywhere! They both go to pick them up, but after telling Haruhi about the good news, she turns toward him and they accidentally kiss! In the moment, neither of them seem to react to it at first just brush it off as an accident, but when Tamaki leaves, they both start freaking out by themselves. Tamaki even ends up running 25 laps around the school. But after such a sweet moment, we get an ominous message for the future of the Host Club and how the doors of Music Room 3 wouldn't open, even after the new school year starts. Spring Break is here and Tamaki has been up all night after the big kiss. He's been fervently trying to call Kyoya since 7:30 AM to talk about what happened, but he isn't answering. Tamaki can't help but think that Haruhi doesn't care about what happened, but his pondering is interrupted when a messenger from the Main Suoh Mansion comes by with news. In the Fujioka Household, Haruhi stayed in bed all night reading shojo manga trying to figure out what to do. When she finally crawls out of her futon, her father has already made breakfast for her, but she can't stop thinking about the kiss. She tries to ask her Dad about his first kiss with her Mom, but chickens out and runs away without telling him. Kyoya finally wakes up at 11 AM and sees the myriad of missed calls from Tamaki, but is soon distracted by the fact that Kaoru has snuck into his room while he was asleep. He's here to discuss what they were talking about at the Botanical Garden about Kosaka. We see a pretty goofy side to Kosaka when she obsesses over the packaging of her fish sausages, but she reveals that Tamaki's grandmother has finally accepted him after the kidnapping incident. Meanwhile, Kyoya and Kaoru commiserate about what they've learn about Kosaka. They surmise that she's only after money and if the Chairman knew about what she was doing, she couldn't be doing anything to harm Tamaki, but Kyoya doesn't think that the Chairman truly cares for Tamaki's wellbeing due to his Grandmother's treatment of him. The most suspicious thing about the Suoh Family is all of the people that have gone missing after working for them. Several people that have close ties to the Suoh Family have disappeared, including the doctor that diagnosed Tamaki's mother. After looking into her supposed disease, Kyoya learns that there is no cure for it and those that have it deteriorate the longer they have it, but Tamaki's mother seemed to be in perfect health. This leads me to believe that Tamaki's grandmother and father have been lying to him about his mother's wellbeing in order to keep him under their thumb and see if he's worthy of becoming the heir to the Suoh Enterprise. But the events that happen later on in this volume lead me to believe that Haruhi's mother worked for the Suoh's and her death was staged. My mind was absolutely racing when I learned all the shady stuff going on with the Suoh's and I kind of hope Haruhi's mother is out there waiting to reunite with her family. Tamaki shows up at Haruhi's house to tell her that he's finally moving into the Main Mansion. She's too flustered to actually face him, but this is the last time Haruhi and Tamaki will spend together. Kyoya has informed the rest of the Hosts about Kosaka's shadiness and he reveals that the Host Club holds a special place to him and he would do anything for Tamaki. After Kaoru leaves, Kyoya finally answers Tamaki's incessant calling, but his face drops after hearing the news of Tamaki moving into the Main Mansion. When he arrives to the Main Mansion, we see Tamaki's Grandmother telling her servants that she still hasn't accepted him and is only bringing him closer, so he stays in check. Kyoya can't reach Tamaki, so he runs to the Second Mansion to try to reach him, when he sees that the servants are already packing all of Tamaki's things and that they will no longer serve the Second Mansion. Tamaki tries bonding with his Grandmother and asks if he can bring his servants and Antoinette, but she brushes him off. It's so cruel that she took Antoinette away from Tamaki, since it's the last thing that links him to his mother. Tamaki is essentially isolated due to his Grandmother's orders and locked in his new bedroom, but he still tries to make the best of things. When the new school year starts, Haruhi is determined to talk to Tamaki, since she hasn't spoken to him since he moved into the Main Mansion, but as soon as she enters Ouran, Renge meets her with some terrible news. The Host Club is on Hiatus. Apparently, Tamaki is unable to attend club activities and Music Room 3 has closed, no doubt because of the Chairman. Everyone is kind of bummed about the situation, but Tamaki seems to be in high spirits despite everything. He asks to have lunch with the Hosts, but with the club closed, all of their customers are bombarding Tamaki and the Hosts are unable to talk to him for a full week. Tamaki is completely exhausted by his new workload and he doesn't seem to have any respite before his Grandmother calls for him. She asks if he's changed his mind about the path he's on and he says no, so she tells him that there is something he needs to do. Tamaki must quit the Host Club. For the first time since the last school year, the Host Club is back together for a private lunch with Haruhi making all of their favorite foods. They're having lunch in the garden without any interruption from their former customers. They're all having an amazing time, but something is off about Tamaki. He tells them that he's quitting the Host Club, but it's his decision, not his grandmother's. Everyone begs him not to, but he brushes them off saying that he leaves the club in Kyoya's hands, but immediately goes to Haruhi. He tells her it's okay to quit the Host Club and that he's sorry that he ever forced her into it. He repays her remaining debt, but as he leaves, Haruhi tells him to explain himself. He coldly tells her that it's none of her business and leaves. Haruhi runs off and the rest of the club chases after her except for Kyoya, who finds Tamaki in a puddle of his own tears. He tells Kyoya what his Grandmother told him and it's awful. She uses Haruhi like a bargaining chip and tells Tamaki that she'll take away her scholarship unless her severs all ties to her. Haruhi is a person of action, so she decides that she needs to go ask Tamaki's Grandmother herself about everything that's going on. Haruhi, the Twins and the Graduates march down to the Suoh's main office and demands to speak with the Director, and they call so much of a commotion that Tamaki's father comes in to shut them up. Meanwhile, Haruhi's father gets another visit from Kosaka, but she tries to bribe him into letting Haruhi become a foreign exchange student in America, but he tells her to get out. The Chairman tells the Hosts that he's happy that they're Tamaki's friends, but they're getting in the way of his plans. Before he can elaborate, Tamaki and Kyoya burst in. Tamaki starts berating Haruhi and tells her that she's being a nuisance, so she and the Hosts leave and she returns home, while trying to comfort herself through a thunderstorm. Oh, my god. This volume was crazy, but we get a great extra about Haruhi's parents. It was so sweet getting to see them fall in love with one another and I would honestly read a whole series about them starting their family. We also get an extra about Hikaru and Kaoru's Grandmother, which was pretty sweet, but I'm still so rattled by the main story! AHH!
