Oh, Deadpool, you really are one smoooooth talker.
Everyone’s favorite insane mutant mercenary is still on a quest to become a real hero which leads to a case of clone related mistaken identity with some Avengers followed by a punch-fest with Steve Rogers. Then Deadpool gets hired by one group of vampires to protect them from another group of vampires which ends in a real bloodbath at a hospital.
This is more solid fun courtesy of Daniel Way who has a real knack for writing DP as being homicidally insane and capable of doing real damage while balancing it out with humor and not pushing it to the point where you lose sympathy for the character.

Deadpool, Volume 6: I Rule, You Suck is an improvement over the last book, thankfully, but it’s still not up to the high quality of the earlier books of Daniel Way’s run.
This volume has two stories. The first sees Deadpool join the Secret Avengers - Cap, Black Widow and Moon Knight - as they go to bat against Doctor Bong (who literally has a bell for a head with a face painted on - superhero comics!) and his army of clones. What’s he up to - nefarious supervillainy shit? Alright! I liked Carlo Barberi’s artwork and not much else about this one - just felt like a pointless story that wasn’t very interesting.
The second story is better: Deadpool vs Vampires (or Draculas as he calls each vampire)! There are different vampire factions and the more traditional kind hire him to help them fight back against the ones who weirdly dress like mummies and can operate in daylight.
Bong Dazo’s art is decent (what is it about Deadpool and bongs? Actually I think I know...) and there are some fun scenes throughout like the Twilight parody and Wade creatively dispatching Draculas left and right. Still not the most gripping read and it feels like Deadpool stepping into the middle of a larger story happening elsewhere in the Marvel Universe, but it’s entertaining enough.
Daniel Way’s sixth Deadpool book doesn’t totally suck but I’m wunnering at this point if I’ve seen the best the series has to offer?

On paper, this trade probably sounds lame. Half mini-clone saga, half vampires, it really isn't a promising setup. But Dr. Bong is so patently ridiculous that the clone storyline ends up being more silly than anything else, and the Deadpool take on vampires is refreshingly violent and ends with Deadpool proving, once again, that he is indeed crazy like a fox.

We're meeting some of the Avengers, which is cool. There are also some... vampires involved.
Trivial fact about Deadpool:
He has stated that, due to his mask and disfigured face, it's hard for him to enter public places, including Taco Bell.

Oh, Deadpool. It was nice to see some flashbacks of Deadpool's life before the Weapon X Program. The rest was just hilarious madness, business as usual. The Secret Avengers making a cameo was nice, too.

So, it's been a while since I've visited the "Deranged World of Deadpool". (They should make a comic with this name)
Not as good as before. Still funny, though my laughs were much more "strained" then before. Could also be because I've been more judging of the books I've read, lately. (One of the curses of reviewing.)
So, first, we have Deadpool trying to buy a taco from an Arab, who refuses because Deadpool has gold and no dollars. Then, a bunch of (spoilery) guys come and try to kill the Arab. He runs down to his basement, which is full of (spoilers). Then, the Secret Avengers (Cap, Black Widow, and good ol' Moon Knight) show up and stop the guys who are trying to kill the shopkeeper, who turns out to be a (spoiler).
Deadpool helps save the day, and Cap invites him to join the team.
Next, Draculas (which is DPspeak for vampires) hire Deadpool of protect me for from mores dressed up as mummies.
Messed up and random as always, though not as funny.

Read a bunch of Deadpool this weekend and figured I'd mostly talk about the volume I enjoyed the most (although 8 was also pretty durn good too).
The problem with Deadpool is that I think writers still hesitate because they think readers won't follow a character who is a complete bastard. BUT WE WILL. I SWEAR. Especially if that complete bastard is entertaining as all hell.
What makes Deadpool work is the insanity, and I mean that both on the fun level but also in the writing.
For one thing, there are always at least two voices in Deadpool's head. So we see those manifested on the page as two different styles of thought boxes. Which works great because, well, you can read about the character's ideas and motivations without him needing a stupid sidekick or something.
Second, he's just sort of out of it. The best part of this whole volume is his insistence on calling all vampires "draculas." They keep trying to remind him that they aren't all named that, messages that fly right over his head, and the fun continues right on.
The other thing I don't enjoy, and where these start to go here and there before too long, is the whole Is Deadpool a Good Guy or a Bad Guy Today storyline.
This happens all the time in comics. You get a cool character, like Venom, and then they have to decide whether he's a good guy or a bad guy every couple months.
Again, we can enjoy bad guys. It's okay. The Joker was the best part of Dark Knight, right? So let's just take it easy on the conversions and get back to kicking dracula ass.

This was a fantastic volume! I laughed so hard at the “Draculas” story arc. Good stuff!

After five really solid Deadpool collection in Way's run, we finally hit a dud.
The first arc in the collection, dealing with The Secret Avengers, Dr. Bong, and the stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists seems to have good intentions but is absolutely fumbled in the execution. The gag that an inverted trope is than re-nverted so that the trope really is used couldn't have been used in a less appropriate way. I think it's possible to make any subject funny but the Muslim-really-is-a-terrorist joke just doesn't land here. The whole story comes of as tonally chaotic, and not just because the villain is a D- Deadpool character with a bell for a head.
The second arc, concerning the vampires is also a flop. Another Deadpool trope is that he's usually inappropriately attracted to a woman he's involved with saving or a woman who is helping him save someone else. It's almost never funny. Deadpool the bisexual loser who makes inappropriate advances, gets shut down, and gets mopey can be fun. Deadpool the misogynist who just won't stop hitting on a woman who has rejected him is just gross. If his comeuppance isn't anything more than She Doesn't Show Up For A Coffee Date, then it's a waste of paper. Also, the vampire clan war is boring.
I don't recommend this book. I'm hoping that volume seven veers back into Way's strengths as a writer.==

How about a job with the Secret Avengers? Deadpool jumps at the chance. He is a joker, but his tactical thinking is explored here. He is more adept at killing than people give him credit.

Deadpool runs into a group of regenerating bad guys while trying to buy a burrito. Their fighting is interrupted by Captain America, Black Widow and Moon Knight. This is when we find out that Deadpool has always been a fan of the Captain since he was a kid, so Steve asks Deadpool to join his superhero team he gladly accepts.
Fast forward to a secret facility and it's revealed that the heroes we had just meet and the regenerating bad guys are all clones created by Doctor Bong. He has been using them to steal weapons from illegal caches. Deadpool figures this out when the real Steve Rogers makes an entrance. Deadpool helps him defeat Doctor Bong using one of his crazy brilliant plans.
Later, Deadpool wakes up surrounded by a bunch of vampires. They hire him to help fight a clan of rival vampires. Deadpool obliges and bloody vampire fight ensues at a local hospital. I loled at the part where Deadpool has a priest bless the hospitals water reservoir.
This issue was very funny

We got clones, Dr. Bong (the bell, not the pipe), Captain America, Black Widow, Moon Knight, and... a bunch of "draculas". And some great Deadpool pick-up lines while fighting those draculas.

Eh. A few good moments, but mostly not very memorable. The vampire stuff especially was very messy, and not in the violent sense, in the "making very little sense and being over too quickly" sense.

This was super fun to read and a nice break from reading long chapter books. And deadpool is always a character that I will for sure laugh at and I needed a good laugh.

It took al while before I realised the cover gave me enough hints that this volume was going to include vampires... What was I thinking?!
The first part of the story continues with good ol' Wade trying to be a hero. Luckily for him, trouble finds him and brings some heroes with it as well.
When Deadpool is given the opportunity to be part of the 'Secret Avengers', you just can't wait for him and Captain America to start arguing or even fight each other...
Though, I thought the villain in this story was a bit lame. Doctor Bong seems to have a history with Deadpool, but I think he's a lame excuse for a villain.
The second part of the volume is about the vampires (or Draculas, as Deadpool likes to call them).
A fun story with some good action, and another way for Deadpool to prove he can be a real hero.
Of course, it wouldn't be Deadpool if there wasn't a Twilight reference in this story... (SPOILERS)

Another 3 star Deadpool book, but this one seems much more on the right track than the previous volume. This time Deadpool goes up against Dr. Bong, a patently ridiculous villain that fits perfectly into the oddball world of Deadpool. He's got a bell for a head. Go from there. Throw in a moderately convoluted plot about clones and you've got some passable comedy.
This book leans less on the crutch of Deadpool trying to "be a hero" (see my full list of complaints about THAT garbage in my volume 5 review), but it does come up a few times. I would actually be fine with it if Deadpool just kept SAYING he was being a hero in the face of being a violent psychopath. That kind of disillusionment would add to the character. But taking the any of the nuts out of the character to have him try to go straight still seems like a cheap way to make him a good guy.
I found myself laughing consistently at the latter story in the book, with Deadpool going up against a bunch of "Draculas." For some reason I find it funny every single time someone refers to vampires as "Draculas," and that happens roughly 2000 times here. I hope we get more stories like this in the future.

Deadpool always brings a smile to my face, well maybe not always, but this was a great installment. I enjoy the flashbacks to Deadpool planning out his masterplans and I love the banter between the characters. Plus, there's a Twilight bashing moment in this, what's not to like?
This is pretty much a straightforward Deadpool saves the day collection, so the plot isn't really what draws you in. Deadpool's personality is consistent with what I have seen in the past and it is still amusing. Every woman involved in the story will fall madly in love with him within his own mind, and he will be reckless and stupid yet surprise everyone in the end. As far as villains go, Dr. Bong could have been intolerable, like I found Taskmaster to be in the Hawkeye collection I just read, but I found him to be over the top and hilarious. That's the best type of villain for a Deadpool setting.
I'm glad this was recommended to me, and I enjoyed it more than Evil Deadpool and Institutionalized. Which is strange because those two sounded like they would be amazing. MORE!
