Inheriting the family treasure could be deadly. On her sixteenth birthday, powers erupt and compel Julie to help others. But her gifts don't come with instructions, and the difference between seeing a problem and solving it could cost a life.
I don't have a reason to read "young adult" books at the moment, but this one came under my radar and I have to say, it's one good read. If you or someone in your world is looking for worthy reading in this genre, CRYSTAL BOUND (apparently the first of a trilogy) is blessedly well written. It moves along. The milieu of teenage life, from home to school, feels real and grounded. The dialogue is great and there's lots of it. It's not too precious, neither is it too darned dark (something I wrestled with bringing books to the young adults in my life in years past). To me, it's very much a girl's book. Maybe mom and daughter reading together. Even better, given the story, a dad-daughter read. Take a look at the masterful opening first pages and see what you think.
I may be partially biased but I have to say I loved this book! Original storyline, interesting characters and taking place in one of my favorite places. Great book for all ages! I'm so happy to have purchased a copy for each of my nieces in addition to myself.
