Stormy Weather #1

The Cajun's Werewolf's Captive

Rate this book
Billionaire werewolf Sebastian Deveraux needs a mate. According to his brothers, he's spent too much time in the spotlight. That's code for not putting the Pack first. They're right, but evenings with a starlet are easier than admitting the truth to himself.

He found his mate. And she'd run from him.

Amanda St. James is back in Louisiana for her father's funeral and not a moment longer. The place is steeped in memories, daydreams, and dangerous desires. It doesn't matter how smoking hot Sebastian is, she refuses to end up like her mother.

Sebastian let his pride get in the way before. He's not going to make the same mistakes again. This time, he'll do whatever it takes to keep her.

I have no problem with books where a sexy Alpha male decides he wants a certain someone and does everything in his power to get her. None. But I do prefer that books that have the word 'captive' in their title and have a woman with her hands bound on the cover have more ... captivity. I have expectations, people, and I want them to be met!

Yes, there is a little tying up, a little binding, some light bondage play... but I was expecting more. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THIS BOOK. Are we clear on that? I wanted utter domination. Not really on that last part. This is kinda like the time I read Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down and was completely disappointed in the level of tying up they did. Don't tease me with the domination aspect and then don't follow through. It's just mean.

Okay. I think I got that out of my system. Maybe.

This is definitely a fast read. I think I whipped through it in around an hour. Yes, it is hot (despite the lack of D/s-ing) and the Deveraux boys are sexy and Alpha. Amanda could have shown a little more personality especially when she found out that Sebastian and his brothers are werewolves but I was able to overlook that. Mostly because I was itching to get to the second book in this series. Why? Three words, guys: Hot Cajun Threesome!

Don't worry, I'm already on it.

This was just a mediocre novella with almost no story here and most of all, it was too short! The whole story was a little bit off and it would have made a lot more sense if the hero had taken the heroine seriously at first. Fortunately, it was free on Amazon Kindle, or else I might even get more fed up with these two main characters!

I have read something from this author before and liked it enough to try this series. While this did not grab me out the gate I still did enjoy it. The characters seem thin but I assume they will get more of a lift as this continues since they will likely be seen in subsequent books even though they will not be the focus. I also expect that there surroundings, besides the fact that it is Louisiana, will be more fully fleshed out. This didn't really give me a chance to see them in my head and become a part of the story.

Sebastian Deveraux is the Alpha of his pack and like all his brothers is sexy as pure sin. He has waited decades for the right woman, his mate. He was sure he'd found her in Amanda St. James ten years earlier, but she ran from him. When she shows up on his porch as a hurricane is blowing in he decides to do anything to keep her with him. Even if that means chaining her to his bed.

Nice enough story but I hope to get more from the rest of the series. Still worth reading.

I usually love erotica involving werewolves trying to deny their desire for their mate. This story had the makings of great erotica but it fell short. The characters were bland and had very little depth. Yes, one could argue that this was a short story of 98 pages and short stories have little character building. I disagree however because it can be done. But I'm digressing. The sex was erotic but never made me squirm. How could an alpha werewolf not make me squirm? Maybe because I didn't really care for him or his mate. And good erotica requires that I like and or care for the characters in some manner. I am willing to read more of this series just to see if the books improve as the series evolves because there is much potential.

Review for mature readers only!

Sebastian Deveraux is the Alpha of his pack and like all the Deveraux men, he's sexy as pure sin. He's waited for decades for just the right woman. For his mate. And ten years ago he'd been sure he'd found her in Amanda St. James. But she'd run from him. Now she's back. And this time he won't let her go, even if it means tying her up to his bed. In fact, Sebastian might take a little pleasure whilst doing so.

My Sebastian

Why i liked Sebastian: Sebastian is the kind of guy who woman can't resist. I mean, who doesn't love a muscular, hot alpha male? I sure do! He is bossy, protective, caring and doesn't take any shit from people. He also has a very big, and stubborn pride that sometimes blinds his heart.

My Amanda.
 photo long-layered-hair-1_zpsf6970080.jpg

Why i liked Amanda: I really liked Amanda because i could easily understand her feelings and why she has done things that she did. I guess i felt connected to her. She is a hardworking girl, with a big mouth of hers, and who isn't afraid to speak up. I loved that about her.

The sex scenes were steamy hot and rather rough! Definitely for mature audience.

'His arm snaked around her waist and his fingers closed around her clit, making her cry out.
" I should tie you up since you can't keep your hands to yourself."

This is the first book in a quite long series by Selena Blake. And i believe it's about the males we meet in book 1, like Sebastian's siblings and their 'soon to be find, and made theirs, mates'. I think it was a good start to a good looking series.

It's a very short book, it doesn't even have 80 pages. I read it in ,like, 40 min. Most of you probably know that i don't do well with small books, i always find something lacking in them. This was no exception. There was no character development, we don't really get to know the protagonists, and i think the plot could be much better.

 photo le-sigh_zps26952022-1.gif

I easily felt that Selena could have made this into a longer book and therefore make everything feel a bit more realistic, everything seemed quick rushed and I felt it had potential which it just didn't live up to. The beginning was definitely my favorite part of the book with all the humor, hotness and being intrigued to know what was going to happen next as well as not feeling that it was rushed. Sadly after that, like I said above, everything just seemed to happen to quick.

You could take a girl out of da swamp, but you couldn't stop her from lovin’ a Cajun."

Short but sweet!

I liked this book, though I usually stay far away from second chance romance types. I didn't find this to be much of a werewolf story and that is the reason for the 3 star rating. The story was simple, but good, the characters were developed which is hard with such a short novel, and the writing was good. The book needed more wolfiness! Other than that, if you like sweet second chance stories with a minimum level of steam, this is a recommended read.

3.5 Sexy and HOT star's

This is a easy read for an free afternoon when you have a little free time, I would of read this alot quicker but I've been at work this afternoon so if not, you could defnitely read it in an hour tops!!!!

This is for 18yrs plus because of the rough, and steamy sex scenes.

Sebastian Deveraux is the Alpha in werewolf pack, he's seeking his Luna his Alpha female, and Amanda St James has loved Sebastian for years but didn't think he felt the same way so she ran away and lived her life in New York for 9 years, she ends up coming back and Sebastian isn't going to let her run away again so he ties her up and has his way!!!

Now this very unrealistic, it is not real and there are several scenes that I thought WTH?? but saying that it's easy to read, HOT and I may continue with this series just to see if we get more information on there personality's, the rest of the pack, what they do!! There is not a great amount of Dialogue it's boils down to plain and simple Sebastian is the Alpha in his pack he wants his woman who he's loved for years and he's going to get her which includes his wicked way with her aswell......

I did a buddy read with Sandra for this short read, so thankyou I wouldn't of read this if you didn't introduce me to Alpha sebastian... so thankyou it was fun :)

Overall: I'm left a little confused at the moment. I really liked the idea of the story, but it felt so rushed, i truly feel like i never got a chance to get to know the characters or the situation they are in. I really wish the author would've slowed the story and explained Amanda's past and would've given Sebastian and Amanda and chance to fall in love, not just rush her to the alter.

Run while you can

This is such a fast moving book, but does not lack for details. I really enjoyed the way the author kept giving us little back stories to help develop the characters and their history. She really drew out the emotions in the story and created this little world right there in the bayou that I can’t wait to go back to. I hope we get to see more of the rest of the pack and what is really going on with the flowers.

Sebastian Deveraux the Alpha of his pack . He has waited a decade for just the right woman for his mate, but none never made him feel the way Amanda had. Amanda was very young and felt scared for what she felt for Sebastian, so she went on to college and lived a very successful life in New York. Now, she has returned because she thought Sebastian sent something to her but it wasn't him.

I didn't feel any excitement, but it was just ok for me. Sebastian seem sexy and nice but his Alpha was off. I love the cave man act now and then but with a little more to it. Amanda, I don't know really, i thought she could have been a bit more than no no let me go and i thought you sent me flowers that's why i came here. I think a better reason may have helped the story (i personally think), but i don't think we even know who sent the flowers in question. At one point I thought the book was leaning to a menage because Amanda keeps fantasizing about his brothers or it seem insinuated she could like more than one brother, so that confused me a bit as well.

With that said, i was split in the middle with this book, i found it ok but was not fully satisfied. fan page www.facebook.com/romance.novel.junkies also group on fb Romance Novel Junkies has 500+ members.

So I totally needed this! A super quick read but really good and redonkulously hot!
Sebastian is straight up Alpha and now that he's gotten his woman back, he's not letting her go. Even if he has to tie her up in order to keep her!
HOLLA!
yes, this could have been longer...yes, the storyline wasn't amazing but sometimes all you need is a really hot muscle-donut alpha werewolf getting straight to the point to make it a pretty awesome read!
Ill take this as is anyday! :)

3.5 stars - short and sweet book. I read on a goodreads discussion how this book was pretty good and it was I just wish it were a little longer.

Sebastian is thinking about the girl that got away, when she just happens to be sneaking around his house. He's not letting her go this time. There's a mystery of who sent the note that led her back there, which is never answered. Maybe if the book was a little longer we could have found out.

Sexy PNR with smexy cajun werewolves, I blame Dennis Quaid in The Big Easy for my love of cajun heroes because I am such a sucker for them.

This was a cute and sassy read although I wished establishing the romance and the reason why the hero and heroine never hooked up had a better reason which was the weakest part of the plot. But the second half was fun and it was a quick and delightful read. Will def check out the rest of the series.

This was a good book for a first book in a series. This is the first book I have read by this author and was very pleased with it. Even though it was a short read it captured me from the beginning and does not skimp on steam or story at all. Will definitely be reading more from this series and author

This book was very short. It got right to the point. I must say I believe the main character had Stockholm syndrome. Who marries a man that ties her to the bed and " claims" her. Wow. But I want to read the series. I have been told it's really good. Onward to book #2.

In the first novella of the Stormy Weather series, Sebastian Deveraux is the alpha of his Cajun wolf pack. His brothers keep reminding him that he needs to pick a mate, but the only woman he wants skipped town years earlier. Then to his surprise, fate answers his dreams.
Amanda St. James has always loved Sebastian but thought he didn’t love her in return. Now a NYC reporter, she returns home to Louisiana for a funeral and then receives flowers from Sebastian, or so she believes. After he finds her trespassing on his property, a decade worth of pent-up aggression and lust finally explodes between them.
Sebastian and Amanda’s biggest obstacle to overcome was their lack of communication and continual arguing. Their relationship moved very fast after so many years apart, but the first sex scene ended up being a dream sequence, which lead to a little confusion because it seemed to be part of the current narrative, not inside the heroine’s head.
The writing is good other than a few punctuation errors, and I like the French Cajun words thrown in. I’ve read one other book in this series (read out of order), and I would like to read the rest as well.

When Amanda St. James gets flowers and a note from Sebastian expressing condolences, she knows she has to see him. Instead of ringing to be let in the gate, she climbs over the wall. She thinks she knows what Sebastian is but wants the confirmation or perhaps a confrontation. When she fled into the night leaving him behind she fully expected him to chase, but he didn't.

The Deveraux brothers and two of their cousins have formed their own pack. Sebastian is their Alpha but now needs a mate, but she left him years ago and hasn't looked back. That is until she shows up drenched sneaking around on their porch. He's determined to get answers and his mate. Was she looking for a story or was she back for him?

Although Sebastian does tie her up to keep her from running, she really isn't captive to anything more than the storm and her love for this wolf.

There's so much to resolve between these two, and I really think Sebastian is a bit clueless at times.

A short fun read with lots of snark and some sizzling heat!

Really nice short story that takes place in the bayous of Southern Louisiana. This novella is about werewolf alpha Sebastian Devereaux and his much younger, human mate Amanda St. James. Sebastian met Amanda when she was barely 16 years old. They were very close the two, along with his two brothers and two cousins. The six of them were like family. The, one day, Manda ran and never looked back. Bastian's cousins, Laurant and Burke, along with his brother, Andre and Jules, tried to reason with, to convince him to go after her, but he refused. His pride wouldn't let him because he thought she had rejected him. However, the truth was very different. Now she's back and the two have a second chance, a chance that Bastian doesn't plan on waisting. With a hurricane coming ashore and bayou on four sides of them, the two attempt to work out their differences and misunderstandings with surprising results.

I enjoyded this read and look forward to reading more. Well done to the author!

Sebastian Deveraux let her get away 9 years ago because he thought she was too young, so he kept going hot and cold on her. Little did he know that this would drive her away from him....He longs and dreams about the blond blue eyed beauty who ran away and left him.....A storm is brewing and a hurricane is headed towards Louisiana.

Amanda St James ran from the man that still controls her dreams and her desires, but he didn't love her then and he certainly doesn't now, he is Louisiana's most eligable bachelor and he lives up to his reputation. She is back in Louisiana for her fathers funeral and she has recieved flowers and a note from Sebastian Deveraux and she decides to answer his note in person...She is headed into the eye of the hurricane.

How will their meeting after 9 years go, will they have their dream fantasies come true, or will they continue frustrated?

Liked it

Amanda and Sebastian danced around each other for years, knowing their feelings for each other. He takes control of the situation after she returns home, having been gone almost a decade. He will have his mate. I really liked the story but was a little confused because it almost read like he watched her grow up, while she also played with him and his brothers. If he's 200+ years old and has to keep selling his companies to hide the fact that he doesn't age, how is this possible? The editing could have been better.

I have the whole series and love rereading them.
Short introduction to this series but not the best of the bunch.
Never quite get the feeling these two are meant for each other even though everything is there to bring them together.
Didn’t like Sebastian being a player as it is implied. If he had wanted Amanda so much over the last nine years why didn’t he pursue her.
I can understand Amanda’s side due to what she overheard Sebastian say.

For me this story lacked any depth. I was left with little bits of information that was supposed to lead to this Alpha pair who were brought together by a mysterious bouquet of flowers.

I was left wondering what was the story about. It has the making of a good book but with only bones and no meat to make a really good read.

I get that it was a stylistic choice to write out the character's "Cajun dialect" ex. da, dat, ya, instead of the, that, and you. But it was the wrong choice. It was so hard and painful to read, and did not add anything to the story. Knowing the author does this, I won't be reading anything else by this author.
