Soundings in the Theology of Psalms: Perspectives and Methods in Contemporary Scholarship
The many introductions to the psalms available to readers tend to focus on various types and forms of psalms but overlook different theological approaches to the Psalter. This volume brings together leading psalms scholars from Catholic and Protestant traditions and takes into account recent scholarship on the shape and shaping of the Psalter and on the rhetorical interpretation of the Psalms.
Soundings in the Theology of Psalms is the second of several "Soundings" volumes to be published by Fortress Press. These volumes offer state-of-the-art essays introducing readers to the current state of discussion and debate on various segments of the Bible.

This collection of essays covers a wide range of theological topics in the Psalms. Most of them are great, and all of them are good. My favorite essays: one on Psalm 82 and the divine council, two on psalms of lament and imprecation, and one on God’s faithfulness. Your faith and your reading of the Psalms will be enriched by this!

These are academic essays, so understand what you're getting yourself into. That said, they offer great insight into the Psalms. Great read for further study of the Psalter.

A solid set of essays, made all the more richer by the inclusion of something of a classic by Walter Brueggemann. I particularly appreciated Rolf Jacobson's piece, though that didn't surprise me, as I've begun to discover that his is one of the freshest voices in Old Testament scholarship.
