This book is an interesting revelation of the US revolution. In turns it is cutting through the mythology and is the origins of it.
I honestly don’t recall the Marquis de la Fayette being talked about in history class. Must be some weird prejudice in acknowledging the debt the US owes to this man for the capture of Cornwallis and securing the recognition of the nation by France and Spain, as well as the Dutch and Prussians, including keeping “England” honest on behalf of the Americans who could not wield the influence of the wealthiest man in French nobility.

And, weirdly, this book ends on a cliffhanger! As Michael Duncan has noted, there really doesn’t seem to be a meaningful biography to his life as a revolutionary in France. But, it’s coming!
