When Fenn's best friend is injured on the job as a big city cop, Fenn welcomes Jason home to Montana. After all they both grew up on Fenn's father's ranch, both cowboys through and through. The challenge is that Fenn has loved Jason since they were teenagers. He's held up a facade for years, bedding women but never committing to any. How can he possibly keep his hands to himself when the cowboy he's longed for is finally within reach?Jason has pursued his dream of one day having his own family, something he's never had. But when his wife files for divorce and a suspect shoots him because his mind is filled with his failed dream, he has no choice but to return to his hometown and to Fenn who has always been there for him. As Jason's therapy for a wounded heart, Fenn has assigned him to work side-by-side with him as one of Fenn's ranch hands. But coming home for Jason means facing what he'd probably run from in the first place--the fact that he's never been able to take his eyes off his best friend for long. He shouldn't notice how Fenn's smile brightens his world, how his blond hair glints in the Montana sunlight, or worst of all, how big, hard, and sexy Fenn's body is.
Eden Cole has been creating stories in her head since she was a small child. Love and romance, sensual pleasures find their voice in her erotic stories of romance. Fantasy, paranormal and science fiction are her favorite genres to write in.
I normally like Eden Cole and I absolutely love cowboys, but this book left me royally pissed :/
Fenn was the least irritating character, I even liked him in the beginning, but when he started groveling before Jason, I wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to have at least a little dignity.
Jason I didn't like from the start. He was like spineless and cranky and entitled and I dunno what else. At first he loved his wife, then he wasn't against the 'experimenting' while blaming Fenn and then his ex-wife came and he went with her, like a dog on a leash. Ugh! And what pissed me off even more was his attitude towards Fenn. He constantly pushed him away, tried to punch him, berated him and so on. What love are we talking about?
And Bev knew Jason was gay all along?? How??? Just because he reluctantly endured extra tight hugs from his friend and he liked to talk to him on the phone (while they didn't even see each other in person for months). That's ridiculous.
So this book was a huge disappointment to me and I hope next one by this author will be better.
Ah, not a fun book, but not depressing either. Just utterly serious and the men behaved oddly realistically in that they tended to have rough sex or punch each other rather than talk things out. Very physical. It wasn’t an easy story, but especially Fenn’s unwavering love and devotion made up for that. He turned out to be amazingly easygoing, never holding on to grudges.
All in all, both guys had fairly distinct personalities and while they were not completely unusual, they also did not feel like people I’ve read about a hundred times already. :3
Good book, just a few errors that should have been spotted in copy-editing.
I liked the book but I knocked off points for no real character description. I had to go find pics to have a visual for myself. I also didn't really connect with the characters. There were times I just wanted to kill jason. With that said though, I finished it and it kept my intrest. So the fact it isn't four may be more about me than the book. If you like heavey angst emotion than I would recommend this book to you.
**3.5** Good friends-to-lovers story and with the added bonus of cowboys, this story rocks. I loved the characters and the storyline and with the exception of some of the dialogue that was a little off to me, this was very well written. It was my first by this author and I'll definitely be looking for more of her/his books.
Eden Cole does friends to lovers like no other. This short novella was satisfying and hot. It had a whole Brokeback Mountain thing going for it, which is also hot. Fenn was super sexy, too. If you love the friends to lovers trope and hot cowboys, you'll like this short read.
A very entertaining book. Perfectly imperfect characters and an interesting story. Great for an afternoon read that's not too complicated but has 2 sexy MC's that definitely belong together.
