Double Dare is about a woman who is dared to "do" the next guy who walks in the door of the club to prove to her friends (the "wicked chicks" that she's still "one of them." She ends up getting mixed up in a crime ring and comes under suspicion of involvement when really just designs and sells lingerie at her sister-in-law's shop. The guy she's dared to "do" initially is in the crime ring, but when he dashes from the club she moves on to the next guy through the door, a cop working the case.

Double Dare was interesting enough for me to finish. The sex was kind of vanilla, which is fine, and I think proportion of sex to the rest of the book was good. The main character's friends are absolutely retarded, though, and I felt like the decision she makes toward the end of the book is pissing away a great opportunity. Even with those flaws, if you've got nothing else to do this book is ok.

This one is pretty steamy, with a bad girl heroine and a good guy cop. I know, yummy at the get go. No, it gets better. Jesse is wonderful. He is a computer geek and a cop who isn't actually smooth. He's all around cute really. In what romance does the hero babble when they meet?

Audra is pretty awesome too. She used to be the juvie type of bad girl, but now there's a lot of change in her life. She cleaned up her act and is really trying to put her life together, so there is a bit of soul-searching. She a mix of naughty and nice, very easy to relate to

The crime part is really kinda dumb. It involves a geeky, porn-obsessed screw up who accidentally involved Audra into the picture and the Triad. They don't do much, or anything really.

When her "friends" insinuate that she is losing her bad-girl mojo, lingerie designer Audra accepts a dare (in the way only a person completely lacking any self-respect can) to seduce the next man who walks into the bar. That man turns out to be a computer dweeb in hock to the Chinese mafia, who turns her down flat, leaving her only with a plot device. But the NEXT man after that is the hot yet supposedly also nerdy undercover cop--Jesse-- who initially thinks Audra is involved in the mobbed up money laundering he's investigating. Only if he can determine she's not guilty of anything but being hot in the 3rd degree can he take their relationship to the next level. This was fun for a book that basically oozes sleaze

Disappointing compared to the two other books I read from this author. Carly Phillips' fan might like it though.
I did not like much the heroine, she irritated me with her childish demands, her complete immaturity regards sex and her so-called friends, who were so awful with her that she would never need any enemy. The hero was just another too-good-to-be-true character. The plot, the circumstances, all the details pertaining to the business or to the investigation, sadly lacked any kind of realism. For instance, Audra worked in her SIL's lingerie company. Well for all I could see, they are 2 in this to-be-multinational, her and the SIL. But she got recently promoted from sub designer of whatever underwear line to Head of Design. Everyone is just so happy for her and keep congratulating her. With 2 people working in the company, I totally failed to understand how that could be such a major step.
The humor rather fell flat.
Overall this book left me a feeling of overflowing sleaze, lack of respect and any real deep and long-lasting feelings between the characters.

I started out not relating to the heroine and had to remind myself to keep reading, that the plot would broaden beyond the relationship among Audra & her friends. Once the hero stepped into the mix, his and Audra's relationship drew me in & I began to care more about her. Definitely an interesting storyline, despite cliched aspects.

What kind of trash is the main character? I've never heard of any group of girls acting like that. Let's pretend we're ok with peer pressure and unbelievable sluttiness, there's a series of retarded coincidences. Finally she ends up with the guy and it's the fastest PG love scene of all time.
