Twelve-year-old Lily Padd's name is the least of her problems: she can't stop burping, her skin seems to be going green and now she has webbing growing between her toes! Can she really be turning into a frog? As if that isn't bad enough, an exchange student from France has come to stay and Lily's best friend, Maureen, thinks he's gorgeous. Why has Lily's life become so confusing, and will things ever be normal again?
Author and illustrator, Angela Sunde writes novels, picture books and short stories. She is the author of the light-hearted fantasy novels Snap Magic and Pond Magic (an Aussie Chomp - Penguin Australia), and illustrator/co-author of the children's novel, The Coral Sea Monster.
Formerly an award-winning language and literacy teacher, Angela now combines judging and mentoring writing competitions with delivering engaging presentations and inspiring workshops at schools, libraries, festivals and writers’ groups.
Awarded a Creative Time Residential Fellowship by the May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust in 2013; First Place (National Best Book - illustrator/co-author) in the Write-a-Book-in-a-Day awards 2011; 3rd place in the CYA Conference 'Illustrated Picture Book' competition 2009; and short-listed (twice) for the Charlotte Duncan Award 2009, Angela loves to uncover the magic and humour in daily life.
Being very partial to the Aussie series and frogs legs and garlic in general, I found this book a thorough delight to consume. Witty, sweet, and it reminded me why I love the colour green and young princes. Lily's seemingly implausible name and situation is humourously made easy to swallow by debut author Angela Sunde. Loved it!
Lily Padd is twelve. She has started burping and can’t stop, worse still she’s turning green and developing webbed feet.
What else could go wrong?
Well, her mum, who is crazy about everything French, invites an exchange student to stay. Lily is kicked out of her room. Her best friend thinks their house guest is cute and mooches around him. Where and how had Lily started turning into a frog? She has to find out and get a cure. When her investigations come up with a solution on the Witchpond.com internet site, the cure could be worse than the disease. Would she really have to kiss that bully boy Rick Basteck?
This is likely to be the start of many other wonderful stories from a talented writer with an original style. For the young reader in your family this is a must have book. Check out her website http://www.angelasunde.com or on facebook.com/angelasunde.

Angela, a former a member of Gold Coast Writers, and The Ten Penners sub group. In the early stages of the compilation of Fan-tas-tic-al Tales, we enjoyed her enthusiasm. We could see her writing and illustrating talents.
This is one of those must have books for the children in your life, and child inside you.
I had reviewed this in 2011 but for some reason its not on my book list so I'm revising this.
Poor Lily Padd. Not only does she have to deal with her French-loving mother, her annoying twin sisters and an exchange student called Rainier who has taken over her room, but she is slowly but surely turning into a frog! Can her strange neighbour, Mrs Swan, help? You'll have to read the book to find out. A fun read for 8 - 12 year olds.
