The Gospel Coalition Booklets

The Restoration of All Things

Rate this book
“Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again!” This foundational liturgical refrain reminds us that what God has already achieved in the past through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ is the foundation for what Scripture says he will do in the future, at the consummation of all things. In this booklet Sam Storms examines the essential elements of Christian eschatological hope―including bodily resurrection, judgment, hell and eternal punishment, and heaven in the presence of God―to show that this hope is a confident expectation rooted in the historical reality of what transpired in the life and death of Christ. Storms examines the inauguration of God’s sovereign rule in the first coming of Christ in order to explore the implications of the consummation of the kingdom of God, the “blessed hope” of the Christian, and the controlling theme of biblical eschatology.  The Restoration of All Things  is a Gospel Coalition booklet designed to offer a thoughtful explanation for point 13 of the ministry’s confessional statement. The Gospel Coalition is an evangelical renewal movement dedicated to a Scripture-based reformation of ministry practices.

A good concise treatment of the topic of the restoration of all things which we hope for as Christians... while this is by no means a comprehensive treatment of the topic, Sam Storms manages in a very short time to cover an impressive amount of material. However, this would be introductory to the topic and may leave some readers wanting more... but this is a good thing! Storms helps the reader to see the relevance of the escatological hope for Christians to their faith and life today and provides several useful insights to thinking about and approaching biblical texts on the subject. He also offers some corrections to common misconceptions about the after life and eternal state.
This would be a good short introduction to get your feet wet on studying eschatology. Storm's writing is clear and articulate - very easy to read and understand. I'm looking forward to eventually reading his longer work: Kingdom Come.

Been reading through all these Gospel Coalition booklets. They’re.. blah. How can you make theology so dry? They succeed at this. Not recommended. They’re truthful and straightforward but just not engaging.

Future of Gods people

Good explanation of prophecy for a short read. More could have been explained as to the different views of future views as to events leading into our eternal home with God(Heaven).

I’m giving this small book a 3 mainly because this isn’t really a topic that should be condensed quite this much. I guess if you want to whet someone’s appetite, it does the job. There’s good information in it… it just left me wanting more clarification on certain things.

What is the basis of Christian hope? This entry in the series of Gospel Coalition booklets deals with the final consummation of God’s kingdom. Storms highlights the realities of the kingdom by first revealing how it’s present manifestation began (with the death and resurrection of Christ) and then by pointing to how it will be fully realized (at the return of Christ and final judgment). Storms has provided a beneficial, introductory-level survey of these important teachings.

Great Gospel Coalition pamphlet. Had awesome information. I'm a little confused about a couple parts of it, but I'm also still pretty unversed in the Word and I'm getting clarification from my pastor on the things I'm confused on...but all in all, a great breakdown.
