A lifetime devotee to the written word, Sophie published her first novel this year. Prior to becoming a novelist, she worked in theater and comic books. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband and three precocious children, who wonder when mom is going to write a book they will be allowed to read. Her answer: probably never. Sophie believes in happy endings for everyone, no matter how extreme the story. Her stories may feature some of the fringe elements of sexuality, but at heart they are always about love.

I went into this book thinking it would be just a bit of sexual fluff to tide me over but it was better than that. I also thought I may baulk at the motivational speaker/therapist being 'unprofessional' but my inner pervert is a sucker for a menage, so in I went.

Basic premise? Tess Proffit is hired to help 5 football players build their patchy team work. Said 5 guys are hot as hell and sex on a stick with naughty pasts. (Of course) Tess is a sub with her own current problems. Guys resent having to do touchy feely psych crap but think the woman doing the touchy feely crap is hot, and they wouldn't mind her touchy feelies on them. There was a little more going on, but really that's the meat of the story.

I thought maybe, as is often the case with a menage, it would be hard to decipher who and what bits of theirs were doing what to the female. Not the case here, they all stood out and it was easy to follow. Every guy had a clearly marked personality and it worked, it was good writing to pull that off in a short story.

There was one scene with two guys, one scene with one guy, one scene with the 5 guys, one scene with 3 (that followed the 5 guys) all of them with Tess - there is some BDSM but no man loving here if that worries you.

A short but good read from the very talented Sophie Oak and Chloe Lang.

I hate that we don't have half stars here. This book was a 3.5 star read for me. I think I am just not a gang bang type of gal. I've heard this called a boinkfest...and yup...that's what it is.

This was about Tess, who to save her career, needs to get 5 football players to work together as a team, because they can cut it everywhere but the field.

This is also a little heavier in the BDSM department than some of Oak's other books, so be ready for that. As always her punishments are done with emotion and caring Doms. I am used to a little more buildup and sexual tension with Oak's characters, and this was just...well a boinkfest. But they still ended up in love.

But...the sex was hot. The guys were seriously Alpha, even when the Dom aspect wasn't present. Well except for Kevin. Kevin was kind of a wuss, but the rest were all hot hard-handed males ready to serve their princess.

Quicker read, lots of hot sex, and that's it. You did get some insight into the characters' pasts, but there was just not enough time and too many characters to get in really deep. 3.5 stars.

Not quite a 4 but definitely more than a three. The story revolves around Tess and her life and all that hasn't gone her way, up until this point. We enter the story that is already under way with Tess away at the compound with the 5 football players. Tess is laying down the law and nobody leaves until these boys learn to operate as a team! This and that leads to Tess sleeping with two of the boys one night and submitting to the Dom during her session with him the next morning. She runs after doubling her sexual partners in less than 12 hours! Trouble is, she hides out in a cabin on the property where the other 2 boys have stashed their hidden XBox and overhears them talking about the harebrained plan the previous day to have the boys sleep their way free from the compound. Feeling that she has been duped and stupid, Tess makes plans to free them all and lets them all know they can leave. Stunned by this turn of events, the men figure out what has happened and finally work together to get Tess back!

Tess must get five sexy football players to work together and behave as a team. She finds herself attracted to not one but all five of them and them her.

Playing the Field is more than your typical ménage in that it features five men to one woman. With so many participants, things could get a little hectic. Both authors tended to handle that aspect rather well.

While the sex is rampant, there may have been too many men to get to know any of them beyond the sex. I just didn’t feel I had adequate time to learn anything about them or invest any interest in them.

Not my usual read but I'm in the middle of a binge-read, so there you go. While I read some ménage, my usual ménage reads do not have more than three people. This one has 6! The scenes are tasteful and the story is fun so give it a shot!

Motivational author Tess Proffit is holding five gorgeous football players hostage until they can start acting like a team again. She never figured on them using her team building skills against her to seduce her into letting them leave. They were unprepared to feel more than lust for the beautiful blond that held their bonuses and their futures in her very capable hands.

Okay, she isn’t actually holding the men hostage but she does have the final say on them either getting or giving up a million dollar bonus for participating in her off season team building classes. Bandit’s teammates Curt, Kevin, Mike, Randy and Marcus could care less about working together until their common goal is centered on a single name: Tess.

Ms. Oak and Ms. Lang have stepped outside the “ménage playbook” and done something a little different with their group of characters, yet still gave them a happily ever after. What they've done is not often seen and hard to pull off without leaving one or more characters essentially flailing or rendered un-necessary to the story. I won’t tell you more except to say that it works beautifully.

Ms. Oak has an incredible voice for writing ménage relationships that make the reader want to consider the merits of that untraditional lifestyle. In Playing The Field, Ms. Oak teams up with up and coming LoveXtreme writer, Chloe Lang. I’m already a fangirl of Ms. Lang’s Wilde, Nevada series so the opportunity to read a collaboration of two of my favorite writers was one that I could not pass up. They do a super job of building the story and the characters. You understand Tess’s motivation for helping the men succeed as well as their trials that brought them to this point in their lives.

If you’re already a fan of Ms. Oak's Siren or Bliss series I know I won’t have to do much to convince you to give Playing The Field a try. While this is a dual writer book you can easily read her personal touches on the story. Ms. Land likewise is a terrific writer. I know you’ll enjoy the easy dialogue, the creative chemistry and the hot BDSM scenes that you come to expect from a Sophie Oak book. Pick up a copy today. You’ll be glad you did.

Wow ... from reading the description of this story, I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did. Tess is a motivational writer who is brought in to work with five players from a football team on their teamwork. The guys are reluctant and cursing Tess while at the same time lusting after her.

Though I like reading these kinds of stories, I've read some in the past that have just been too much (too many players involved) and couldn't keep up. This was a M/M/M/F/M/M menage but we got to know all the characters (as much as possible in a small story) and the end seemed pretty natural. I am not sure this kind of HEA would work in a real life relationship like this where all the players and Tess are high profile and open to media attention, but this is fiction so who really cares.

LOVED IT! I wasn't quite sure about buying this book. In a lot of the menage stories the story line is non-existant or just plain sucks. But this story line kind of made me laugh. I mean 5 gorgeous football players are put on a ranch with an absolutely beautiful self help instructor with no phones and no vehicles to get away. She's hired to get these 5 key players to trust each other again on the field so they can bring the team to a championship. But 3 of these players fall in love with her and proceed to show her how special she is and how much fun it is to share. I highly recommend this book to everyone. The chemistry is off the charts hot and in case I forgot to tell you the sex is freakin amazing.

Ms. Oak and Ms. Lang certainly scored a touchdown with this novel. I thought the way the men were described gave them individuality and helped keep this spicy read going from the first page. Playing the Field not only has extremely sultry scenes, it has a plotline that is justifiable which you do not always get when reading erotica. The emotional boundaries that this story entailed gave me a feeling as if I could personally relate to each character. This is one smoking hot book that I perused with great relish.

Five football pros and one psycho-therapist -- I have never really understood the 5/1 ratio. Yet as the story moves along it is interesting how the authors work it all out. I found the various characters fascinating--such egos in pro athletes--and how it was their relationship with Tess that made more of a difference than all the "team building exercises" that were a part of the retreat. Not Ms Oak's strongest work, but a fun read, nevertheless.

I liked it ok, i don't think it was one of Sophie Oak's best works but it was still good. Wish that it would have went into their relationship at the end a little more to explain how it was goind and plans for a possible future, i think that would have just wrapped it up nice and tight for me. I also wondered what happened to the other two guys and what their story is.

Probably my least favorite Sophie Oak book, but it was still cute. I liked it.
It is on the short side which presented some challenges. But the situation was cute and the end satisfying. (and that surprised me)

Tess has a contract to talk and coach five key players who just can´t get along. Feelings and anticipation has been building during the last months and now the culminate during a getaway session on a farm where a lot of ultimatums are given. Threesome, D/s and a lot of smut, =) love it.

Wow, did I love this book. It was different than most of her books, but I truly enjoyed it. In fact once I started I didn't stop until I finished. I could not put this one down. For lovers of menage, I would highly recommend this book.

If you need secual stimulation, this book is perfect - an ultimate sex fest between one female and five (!) men. It was ridiculous, the story more or less didn't exist and I read it only because I liked the bliss series and hoped that it would be similar.

This was not a favorite of mine. I've loved all of Sophie Oaks other books but this one just didn't have the great plot with that I'm used to seeing. I was a little sad about that.

Real fun easy read. Read it in one sitting. Had never read a book by either one of these authors, they both did a good job. It was a relaxing, entertaining read.

Not bad. Hard to set up the people/situation, have the sex, aND develop the relationship in sufficient detail. Guess which one got slighted?

Чисто фэнтези, несмотря на земной антураж. Сцена как раз для того, чтобы эпатировать "приличных" читателей Зноя, но мне не по зубам:и БДСМ, и действующих лиц пенисов многовато.
