Your child's first questions and answers about the human body can be answered in this beautifully illustrated book from Time Life for Children. Published in 1993
A wonderful and educational book about the human body, this book uses fun pictures and interesting questions that young kids ask all the time to get them engaged in learning. When my son was 4 yrs old, we used this as one of our first science lessons, and just read a page or two a day and talked about the answers to the questions. His favorites were Why do I bleed when I cut myself and Why do I sneeze? A great book to get your young learner started in science.
This book is one that I would recommend for home use and not in the school. The only reason that I say this is because it mentions babies, and we as teachers need to stay away from this line of questions (maybe this page could be blacked out or torn out). Otherwise, it's a great book to help students understand about their body and why things happen the way they do. Many of the subjects it covers could be addressed under the science curriculum. Many vocabulary words are introduced but are well explained. Children could make a vocabulary list from the book to help with comprehension.
