Mugi Tadano is the happiest high school kid in the world. Not only does he get to live with his super cute classmate Yuu Tsukisaki, but his dad is rarely home. It almost seems too good to be true. Enter Kiku Murakami–the hottest, most popular girl in school. Kiku can have her pick of any guy, and she’s chosen Mugi! The one thing that stands in her way is Yuu. Kiku’s solution? Destroy the competition by any means necessary. When Kiku unleashes a series of hurtful rumors about Yuu, it’s up to Mugi to clear Yuu’s name and save her reputation. But can Mugi resist the charms of the sexiest girl in school?
Toshihiko Kobayashi (小林 俊彦 Kobayashi Toshihiko) is a male Japanese manga creator. In 1995, Half Court was serialized in Magazine Special from No. 1 to No. 11. After the serial publication of Parallel in Magazine Special from No. 8 in 2000 to No. 1 in 2002, Pastel was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from the 32nd issue in 2002 to the 33rd issue in 2003. And now Pastel has been running as a serial ever since Magazine Special No. 10 in 2003.
Poor Mugi. His love for Yuu is unspoken. He will do anything for this girl, and she never seems to notice, at least, that is what he thinks. Little does he know that she is starting to have feelings for him too.
Once again, Toshihiko Kobayashi has created a fun story of young love and humor. I wonder if Mugi and Yuu will ever get together?
One thing that bothers me is that Mugi's father is always away on business. These kids seem to be living by themselves with no adult supervision. Its a good thing that these three are all perfectly responsible teenagers and never think about hanky panky. Hey, what am I saying? Yes, they do, well, at least Mugi does. He is just too afraid of hurting his relationship with Yuu by confessing his love for her.
Overall, Pastel: Volume 4 is another great addition to a fun series and is one of my favorite humorous series. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Mugi gets into next in Pastel: Volume 5.
