This book is about the value delivered by IT in a corporate setting. At first I felt patronised by this book. I found it to be written in a "Janet & John" style ... this term is probably only of use if you're of a certain age an have lived in the UK ... essentially a book for very young children. Anyway, the book grew on me - it was an easy read, and yet covered some interesting "what's the business value of IT?" sort of questions. Not sure how practical and implementable - but probably falls in the good brain candy category - but only if you're interested in the business value of IT!”
This is a very inspiring book about strategy and the position of IT in the modern enterprise. Potts have taken a very alternative approach to discussing the subject of IT strategy and investment management. Instead of a standard business book the book is written as a novel following the CIO of a company who is challenged with rethinking and innovating how to approach IT strategy and the whole position of IT in the organisation. Definately thought provoking and worth reading before you start writing your next IT strategy!
Nice to read an Business IT book in form of a novel, but the characters are not very realistic nor the situations depicted... Good approach for IT Managers in search of finding the proper value of the IT departments in current IT outsourcing super-trend.
