Carl Kolchak was TV's first paranormal investigator, albeit a reluctant one. His exploits have been the inspiration for the X-Files and beyond! Kolchak is a talented newspaper reporter who used to handle all of the big stories, but his reputation has taken a few hits over the years as his stories have become more and more strange, surreal, and unknown. He is a relentless truth-seeker, no matter how bizarre that truth may be. The fact that no one believes him, and that his stories rarely get printed anymore, only fuels his desire to get to the beating heart of the matter!
Received the Shamus Award, "The Eye" (Lifetime achievment award) in 2006.
He has also published under the name Patrick Culhane. He and his wife, Barbara Collins, have written several books together. Some of them are published under the name Barbara Allan.

This compendium is an absolute must-read for Kolchak fans if you can find a copy, of course, which is easier said than done. The gigantic Moonstone edition consists of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker Chronicles", containing 26 stories, and "Kolchak: The Night Stalker Casebook", which has 17 stories. The authors of the stories in these two volumes are well-known Kolchak contributors like David Dawidziak, CJ Henderson, Joe Gentile, PN Elrod, and Dave Ulanski, just to name a few. All of the stories are true to the Kolchak mythos, and most take place in Kolchak's familiar hunting grounds: Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle. This compendium is not to be missed for those who enjoy the escapades of this cult favorite.
