Children will love this beautifully illustrated storybook with delightful text by Beth Shoshan. Ideal for reading aloud with your little one, this heartwarming tale will capture the imagination of children and parents alike.
Beth Shoshan was born in Brighton. She never seemed destined to be a children's writer, after all she had failed English Composition. But everything changed when she was challenged by Meadowside to write the most inappropriate children's book imaginable - it should contain sweets, explosions and arcane English words. She did, and Smidge became an instant best-seller. Now with over 30 titles to her name, Beth has become one of the most successful children's authors of the past few years.
This book is strange. The rhythm and verse is sort of tricky to read, especially because there are so many parentheticals (I thought Beatrix Potter was into parentheses, but this goes beyond that). It almost seems as if this book was translated from another language into English, although I don't know if that's the case. Also, I had a hard time figuring out the relationship between the two featured rabbits. The size difference makes them seem like a parent and child. That's obviously how my child interpreted the book, because he kept saying "Mommy" as we read it. But the text makes it seem more like the bunnies are just very-different-sized friends. Anyway, I just didn't really get this one, although the illustrations are cute.
While the illustrations and overall story as a whole is cute, the writing is atrocious. There are so many fragmented sentences and unnecessary use of parentheses. Just because it's a children's book doesn't mean you are excused from writing well.
Seriously adorable book. It’s a very unique book about two rabbits and their friendship, one little and one big and all they get up too, the little one wants to do the same.
It comes with beautiful illustrations of the cutest characters and all they get up to in the book. It is incredibly easy and quick to read and would be a good one for starter readers.
This book reminds me of Sam McBratney's "Guess How Much I Love You" - both because of the illustration style and the subject. It's about the love between parent and child, and all the things they can do together.
Illustrations are cute and the overall message is very sweet. However, the writing style was very strange to me. It was hard to follow because you expect the pattern or the rhyme or something and it really wasn't ever there.
This book is both too earnest and odd in a way I don't enjoy (I guess odd, rather than quirky?) It gets me cuddles from Babe when I read it to her, so that makes it a winner.
This is a tail about two friends and the time they spend together. It exemplifies what a friend is, what friends do, and how friends make us feel. The friends in this book are two rabbits, one big rabbit and one small rabbit. This story made me smile seeing the friendship that the two rabbits have. The illustrations were extremely adorable and brought life and humor to the story. Through all the times they experience together they make a connection one that makes them feel safe and protected knowing that they will have each other’s backs. We see sometimes that kids feel like they must do things alone. This story would be a good story to read to kids to show them that they do not have to go through things alone. It shows them that friends are someone you can count on to be there for you through all sorts of times.
This book is about two rabbits, I think a parent and child, doing things together. It is a very sweet book, but may be a bit confusing to children with the way it is written. It is a good one to talk about friendship and relationships between parents and children.
