One myth from the history of every great civilization spoke of beings descending from heaven and using human and animal DNA to create giant offspring. Rabbinical authorities, Septuagint translators and early church fathers understood this as a factual record of history. The phenomenon began with the Watchers who spawned Nephilim resulting in judgment from God. The ancients also knew Bible passages that predict the Nephilim will return when Iraq and Iran are invaded and destroyed. Is this prophecy about to be fulfilled? Is man, in his rush to play god through biological weapons, biotechnology, and genetic manipulation, opening gateways to a supernatural unknown? Nephilim Stargates and the Return of the Watchers is a glimpse into this past, present, and future phenomena, with an eye on what sages and scientists believe and what futurists and prophets may fear.Thomas Horn is CEO of Raiders News Network, a syndicated columnist, and the bestselling author of The Ahriman Gate. First let me say something positive. Tom Horn's premise in general, that transhumanism is bad and really human beings ought not to mix ourselves with other DNA or technology to make something else, is truly a sound idea and we shouldn't do it. It could have eternal consequences.
He is right that humanity should not tamper with what God has made.
This book however is not the best way to promote that idea. I bought it after Horn appeared on Future Quake to see what else he was talking about.
Unfortunately, this book is pretty much pure conjecture and jumping to conclusions. Alot of the assumptions are just that. There is no real evidence, no real theory that can be proven in any real way. And the theory is not even necessarily Biblical. Alot of what I recall anyways rests on the same kind of evidence as the ludicrous ancient astronaut theory.
Even worse though.
The one clear thing I recall from this book was that the fallen angels and Satan trapped in the abyss are trapped in the planets. The face on Mars? Yup. entrance to where Satan is trapped. But this theory is not presented with corroborating evidence, or support from the Bible take. in context. No. Horn uses an excerpt from one of his attempts at fiction to illustrate the point.
When you get to the point where you are using your self published fiction to prove a theory, it's time to 1) discard the theory 2) develop the fiction and publish it as such. Nothing against self publishing, I did it myself, but using that to bolster a theory and selling the book as fact or a workable theory is dishonest and poor research. It would be like if I used my In the Shadows of Myrmidons as a starting point to prove that superheroes exist and have been covered up by the government.
If you must read this book, do so as a primer to Tom Horn's fiction or read this as fiction. The theory presented in this book is not Biblical necessarily and debatable. Keep in mind my local used book store wouldn't buy it.
I enjoyed this book. It was the first one I read on this subject, and I think it's a good introductory book on the subject of the Nephilim. I admit I want to go deeper into the subject, but the way I see it, this book is perfect for where I was at on the subject: which is at the beginner level.
I especially liked the background of various myths around the world. I had not connected the dots on the similarities between the various cultural myths before. I was familiar with Greek mythology but not the others, so I did enjoy learning more about those. Some people I have talked to say that the different myths discredit the Bible. For me, it's the other way around. I am now more convinced that the Biblical account is the real one and the similarities among the myths are based on the Bible. (This, of course, is my personal view after reading this book.)
I kept expecting the author to throw in his opinion on the subject after he gave alternate views of Nephilim and current aliens/UFOs. I got suggestions of his position, but there wasn't anything definite. Maybe it was the author's intention to lay out different ideas and let the reader draw his/her own conclusions.
I thought the author did a good job of showing his research, though I would have preferred his own words to explain an idea instead of reading portions of his fiction book. I think one or two passages would be fine. I don't know how many were in there. Five or six. After the third one, I began to feel it was too much. Anyway, this is a minor point and it is why I gave it four stars instead of five.
One more thing I really enjoyed reading was about the human-animal hybrid genetic manipulation and how aliens might be making a human-alien hybrid as well. I feel that the surface has only been scratched on this subject (another reason why I think this is good for beginners). Now, I want to learn more.
I would buy this book again if given the choice because I do think it's a good reference point. I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to keep it on my bookshelf.
The holy Bible is not the only place where Nephilim, or Giants have been mentioned. They are said to be created fro m fallen angels who mated with earth women. The great Flood was sent partly to destroy these ungodly beings which included the giant Goliath. Are research today opening gates for these giants to return. Interesting speculation by this author.
Author and TV/radio personality Thomas R. Horn, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SkyWatchTV.
He wrote in the Introduction to this 2007 book, “Something alarming has been happening since the dawn of tie, which has been recorded in the history, holy books, and mythos of every great civilization. Ancient rabbinical authorities … and early church fathers understood it… Beings of super intelligence sometimes referred to as ‘gods’ have since time immemorial descended through openings of sky, earth, and sea to interact with this planet’s creatures. The behavior of these ‘unknowns’ … seems to revolve around the need to harvest or manipulate molecular matter, especially human and animal. The unknowns appear to come to us from nearby planets and/or dimensions and may actually be represented by the Watchers of Apocryphal texts… artificial structures or active sites belonging to these extraterrestrials could be discovered…” (Pg. 1)
In the first chapter, he outlines, “Most people … discover striking similarities between Christianity and the world’s most ancient religions… I postulated a theory … in my second book ‘The Gods Who Walk Among Us’ to explain the parallelism… I theorized that a perfect revelation was given from the Creator to man ‘in the beginning.’ The first man … perceived divine knowledge from the mind of God… and understood, therefore, what God knew about science, astronomy, cosmogony, geology, eschatology, etc.” (Pg. 5)
He quotes Genesis 6:4, and comments, “thousands of years ago heavenly beings visited the earth. They engaged in experiments resulting in a race of mutant offspring called Nephilim… Are current ‘UFO’ visitors, and resultant abductions and experiments, the same as those of Noah’s day? If so, why have heavenly beings visited … the earth, and what is this genetic tinkering with creation about?” (Pg. 25)
He continues, “The Ancient Astronaut theory and the teaching of theologians alike look to the prehistoric legend of Watchers… to discuss the Anunnaki… Nephilim (giants referred to in Gen 6:4), and the creation of mutant NA following earth visitations by ‘gods.’” (Pg. 26) He states, “stories of flying discs and tales of the transdimensional gods who flew in them as well as the gateways through which evil and benevolent influences sought entry were passed on to succeeding faiths. Such gateways, of stargates, were later represented on earth in Assyrian archways…” (Pg. 35)
He summarizes, “the physical earth---can contain extra-dimensional (‘spiritual’) entities locked away or contained behind barriers of some type---as in gates---with warnings to humans about seeking their communion. When contact has been desired, beings of startling similarity have materialized… and were interpreted as gods… modern examples … including a being that is strikingly similar to an alien Grey in Aleister Crowley’s ‘Amalantrah Working’ ritual and the subsequent ‘Babylon Working’ ritual by Crowley’s students…” (Pg. 55-56)
He reports, “[the number] 2012.9 corresponds to the year, month, and day that the ancient Mayans of middle America believed their calendar will end, December 21st, 2012… Does the chosen location of the first connection of heaven with the earth at Mt. Hermon … (2012 miles from the equator and the Paris Meridian) set in time the final phase of a new world order in the year 2012?... If the sons of God descended to Mt. Hermon with the intention of connecting 33.33 with 2012 navigationally, might they also have placed an additional marker coordinating 2012 with the year of their return? It appears that they did place such a marker. This is very probably the meaning of the Roswell event… At Roswell, if Pi is multiplied by the latitudes from 33.00 to 33.59, a line… can be traced showing the precise flight path the disc traveled before impact… The odds against a crash location occurring ‘by chance’ precisely at the coordinates that are the product of Pi X 33 are astronomical…. In other words, the Roswell event was not an accident.” (Pg. 82-84)
He predicts, “America… is the country where the year 2012… appears to have been supernaturally communicated to humanity as being the date marking the return of the sons of God—a new world order led by an unearthly powered ruler.” (Pg. 88)
He suggests, “Materializing and dematerializing of superintelligent beings, whether angels or ETs, is not difficult to accept. The Bible… speak[s] openly of Satan appearing as an angel of light, and of good angels hosted as ‘angels unaware’… We also are willing to believe that malevolent beings could produce UFOs for nefarious reasons… This being theologically acceptable, maybe [Jacques’ Vallée is right about historical ‘[demons’ producing phenomena known as UFOs… in order to construct a gateway from one dimension to another.” (Pg. 130-131)
He proposes, “some … believe stargate manipulators could ‘appear’ and ‘disappear’ through traversable wormholes… UFOs could hypothetically travel through these space-time tunnels from incredibly far distances… maybe even at speeds greater than light!... Wormholes as stargates would explain some of the observations made by eyewitnesses of UFOs suddenly appearing and disappearing and even gradually vanishing.” (Pg. 142-143)
He notes, “Speculation exists… that ‘hidden codes’ in ‘Junk DNA’ may be deciphered in an as-yet unknown dialect potentially describing facts about the creation of mankind and further astounding discoveries … in what now appears to be a countdown toward the end of the age…” (Pg. 145)
After quoting 2 Thess 2:8-12, he comments, “The idea is that when the Antichrist is revealed, he will be accompanied by ‘lying wonders’---i.e., UFOs being used to introduce the Man of Sin… Satan is referred to as being the prince of the powers of the air, scriptures that lead some to believe … UFO activity could be part of a Last Days delusion---something to trick humanity into accepting the appearance of an Antichrist… these beings could arguably claim to have removed ‘believers’ in a high-tech ‘rapture’ and/or … present their leader (Antichrist?) as the awaited messiah…” (Pg. 180-181)
After quoting Gen 11:6 he argues, “This comment seems curious if the meaning here is only that the tower would reach into the ‘sky’… How close to the surface of the earth is the dwelling place of angels? Of demons? Of God?... what if the ‘heavens’ are so close as to have been reached upon tall mountains? The Nephilim had intimate knowledge of the original earth before the heavens were closed-up and before God no longer walked with man in the cool of the evening…” (Pg. 193-194)
Fifteen years after this book was published, Horn’s speculations about 2012 seem, well, discredited; but he has since proposed other speculative theories…
Dnf therefore no rating. Misinterpretations, heavy biased conjectures, terrible researching skills (try Wikipedia). A shame, because he is onto a few things, re the fallen angels/Sumerian and consequent pagan pantheon, and the links with their planets, but not in the paranoid way the author is thinking. I also can't continue as I've seen the abundant errors in the section on the Greek gods alone, and I suspect it's all downhill from here.
The author make some pretty far-reaching assumptions about the God and the angels visiting earth via stargates. The book is not well edited, doesn't have a linear progression from hypothesis, through evidence, to a justified conclusion. Yet, past these flaws it does present a new idea or two worth consideration if you are interested in Enochian mysteries.
I believe it would have been a more enjoyable read if he had left out his references to his novels. Otherwise it was an informative and enjoyable read.
Even though it is centered on the year 2012, this book is still worth reading. It is filled with informative information that helps tie the Truth to Mythology. Presents the common thread found in mystery religions and their union with ritual and ceremony. Paints a vivid picture of why and how the forthcoming "Battle of Ages" between the Light and Dark Forces would resemble. A well written, easy to read page turner here.
This book was interesting, but the reasoning was entirely inconclusive for me. If you are unfamiliar with Nephalim, they are the giant offspring of fallen angels and human women from the Old Testament. Mr. Horn makes the case for nephalim being part of the end times of biblical prophecy. "As it was in the days of Noah" is often repeated, and in those days, the miscreants were still roaming the earth, according to Horn.
I was disappointed that in a book attempting to make solid, objective claims, Mr. Horn chose to include lengthy passages from his own novel as though it were some sort of "evidence". Not sound reasoning at all.
Otherwise, there are many better documented points and I do believe it is a way to keep our minds from closing around any particular eschatology, entertaining these far-reaching, though certinaly possible end times scenarios. After all, the Jews missed their Messiah because they thought they had it all figured out and HE came in a different manner than they were expecting. There is no reason to think christians have interpreted prophecy any more accurately
This book covered a LOT of the information about ETs, old mythology, and "conspiracies," but backed up every point with a Biblical reference and cross-reference. It also pointed out information that usually is glossed over or just not examined in most discussions--information that sometimes is downplayed or twisted as misinformation to change the subject. It is well worth a thorough read - or two!
Very good book although kind of hard to follow because they seem to excerpt from fiction books and hard to discern which is those quotes and the actual stories of abductions and the like but overall good book where the bible is referenced in reference to aliens also talking about Alister Crowley and opening gates was very interesting.
Tremendously educational! Changed my way of thinking about genesis chapter six.God is much bigger than we think! The question remains, are they among us?
