Geronimo Stilton #46

The Haunted Castle

Rate this book
More than 18 million Geronimo Stilton books in print! I was just minding my business at home when I got a telephone call. It was my uncle Samuel S. Stingysnout, inviting the whole Stilton family to creepy, faraway Penny Pincher Castle for a big surprise. Moldy mozzarella -- I'm not much of a traveling mouse, and I hate surprises. But Thea, Trap, and Benjamin were going, so I couldn't say no. I could tell this was going to be one super-spooky trip!

So far this is the funniest Geronimo Stilton book that's come out. My daughter and I were laying in bed constantly laughing over this book.

Geronimo, Thea, Benjamin and Trap are invited to the Stingysnout Castle by Uncle Samuel for a ceremony, but Geronimo can't get Samuel to tell him what kind of ceremony it is. So Geronimo and his crew show up to the Stingysnout castle even though they are all dreading the visit. They don't like to go to the castle because of how stingy uncle Samuel is.

When Geronimo arrives Uncle Samuel is crying and keeps blowing his nose on Geronimo's clothes so he can save his tissue.

Uncle Samuel is somewhat consoled, though, because of the lightning storm that was going on. Samuel says, "I absolutely adore this weather! You see, when lightning strikes, there's no need to turn on the lights and we can save money on our electric bill!" When Geronimo, wanting to get out of the rain, points out that its raining cat's and dogs, Samuel says, "splendid! There will be no need to take a shower and we can save money on our water bill!" There is a lot more along these lines and it makes for a very amusing book.

This book was about Geronimo Stiltons grandfather and he invites the Stiltons to his castle and he says his friend died and they are going to bury him the next morning. Geronimo Stilton sleeps and goes to get tea. He finds his sister doing the same thing, and together they look in the tomb to see if there was a body. They think there is no body because nobody knows there grandfathers friend except his grandfather so they open the lid it was empty. Did he come to life, or was it all fake. Find out in GERONIMO STILTON THE HAUNTED CASTLE.

The Haunted Castle (Geronimo Stilton) by Geronimo Stilton
Non-review rant
I liked illustrated books. I am too old for it, but I still do. I read all the Gerionimo Stilton books in the library, in 2015. All the books I have read in the series, amused me immensely. and the illustrations are really nice.
Review
Geronimo visits the haunted castle owned by his uncle. He is made to clean the castle, that part was really funny. And of couse, that is followed by an adventure.

Having previously read the first two Geronimo Stilton books, Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye and The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid (albeit in inverse order), back when he was five, my now-six-year-old and I recently decided to give this book (which is actually #46 in the series) a go.

While the first two books were decent mysteries, different in tone from the cartoon show, in part because of the use of Geronimo as narrator, this one breaks the mould (unless this break happened somewhere between book two and this point, obviously), and not in a good way. Geronimo is still narrator, but while the title, The Haunted Castle, seems to imply another mystery yarn, this fails to actually materialise. Sure, there is a castle, and a potential mystery (if not really a haunting) in the making, but this is preempted before the book's halfway point, where it flails a little bit, only to then attempt to romance stories of rather different types.

In all honesty, any of these stories could likely have been turned into a really good read, but the fragmentation and the lack of narrative focus gets the better of the book. And it is a problem that it never lives up to what it sells itself as: i.e. a mystery involving a haunted castle.

The book, Geronimo Stilton: the haunted castle was very good and was written quite well. The author works a lot of humor into which I like. I have read a lot of these books throughout the years, and this was probably one of my favorites. Each book in the series is on a completely different topic which is cool because it mixes things up and makes it more enjoyable to read. This one was about how Geronimo and his family got invited to a fake funeral by his family friend that live in a haunted castle. He realized that the coffin seamed very light when he accidentally ran into it. It turned out that there was never even a person in there, and the person that he claimed to have died, was never even a person in the first place. Overall I thought that this was a great book.

It hurts to have to give a Geronimo Stilton book 2 out of 5 stars, but I really couldn't give this particular story a higher rating. We LOVE Geronimo in our house, including all the spinoffs (Spacemice, Micekings, Cavemice, etc.) We chose to read The Haunted Castle as part of the Halloween Season. We thought it would be a fun little spooky story for the season.

We were disappointed at best. It started off promising, but the Haunted Castle business lasted about half the book (if that) and we wound up in a love story and a wedding. My 5 year old was convinced I wasn't "reading it right" and my 3 year old kept trying to remind me that "this is supposed to be about a Haunted Castle."

Okay, okay. I have to admit a grudging admiration for these books. For one thing, my six-year old loves them. But they are also actually kind of funny--a cut above the usual pun humor in early chapter books. And the visuals and rich cast of characters give a lot of access to the stories. The Stingysnout family is pretty hilariously depicted. To be honest, I think the page my son pores over the most, though, is the one at the end picturing the covers of all the G. S. books!

Another popular kids series that I've never read before. The story itself is charming and I liked the narrators voice. I found the change in font exceedingly distracting. I think it's one of those elements that some kids will love and others won't get past. I'm not sure that the change in font really adds anything, so it's probably better without it because there are many kids I recommend the books to (even before I'd read them) who I know would like the stories, but are turned off by the font.

I thought it was fine. I kind of had an expectation this book was going to be creepy scary. It was for half of the novel, which then turned into a romance. It was funny. And the lesson it teaches is important which I admire this story for.

Samuel Stnigysnout invited Geronimo to a creepy castle for a surprise. Geronimo solved the mystery that the coffin in the castle had nothing in it.

It is basically about this mouse called geronimo's stilton he is the editor of the most famous newspaper in new mouse city. He received a call from Samuel stingysnout. The stingysnouts and the stilton on see each other on special occasions like funerals and weddings the stilton do not like the stingysnouts because they do everything to save money. Geronimo asked Trap his cousin, Thea his sister and Benjamin his favourite nephew if they were going they all finally agreed and geronimo had no choice but to go since they were going. They all were asking about what the ceremony is all about. Thea wanted to go there with her convertible Trap wanted to go there in his van but Benjamin wanted to go there by plane. The route to penny pincher castle is they have to go through Lonliness Peak, parsimonious peak, reduction river, the valley of lack, little lake, scantytown and that is the route to Penny Pincher castle. Uncle Samuel told them there was a ceremony of uncle Bigwigs the owner of the castle. No one knew who uncle bigwigs were. They were there to do uncle bigwigs' funeral. Uncle Samuel gave a super long speech. When Geronimo was about to go to bed he was feeling cold so he went downstairs to the kitchen to get some tea. He saw Trap, Thea and Benjamin too. They decided to go the tomb but it was empty. This dark shadow came but it was just uncle Samuel. They created such a ruckus that they woke up the rest of the family. Uncle Samuel explained to them that the castle actually belonged to the stilton family and the stingysnouts he did not want to also give it to the stilton so he created a fake funeral and a fake will. Uncle gagrat started telling jokes but only the stilton family laughed uncle Samuel says that laughing is just a waste if energy. But uncle Gagrat took out his jokee book and he kept on saying jokes suddenly, chintzina started laughing. Uncle Gagrat fell in love with her and they got married chintzina went to new mouse city for a makeover.

The story in a few words is: Geronimo was sent on an adventure to Penny Pincher Castle with his family but they didn't want to but Geronimo convinced them when they got on the car Trap had the map but he had it backward. They came to the castle and they are giving them the tour and their rooms when they gave everyone the tour and their rooms went to sleep but Geronimo could not sleep then he went to the kitchen to grab food but Thea Trap and Benjamin were there. There is a party in the castle and Geronimo invited Zelda's cousin to the party. Zelda asked Geronimo to dance. Zelda stood in Geronimo and hit him with his bag and poked his hole. The characters are, Geronimo He is a mouse, he wears glasses, he is brown, his suit is green with white and his corvette is red, Thea is gray, his clothes are light blue with gray and blue pants, Trap is brown, he is chubby, his shirt is green and yellow, and his pants are blue. And Benjamin is brown, he has a red and white sweater and his pants are blue, Zelda her hair is blue, she is a mouse, her dress is black, and she has a blue sweater or gray base and she has a rose on her head. I changed because the book taught me to always take risks. The person who I would recommend this book to is Julia because she doesn't like bugs and we have pets and she doesn't like them.

We're so proud of you for reading "The Haunted Castle" by Geronimo Stilton! This story is not just an exciting adventure but also teaches important lessons about courage and not judging things by their appearance. Just like Geronimo learned to be brave in the castle, you can remember that being brave doesn't mean you're not scared; it means you try even when you feel scared. And, just like the castle had secrets to reveal, remember that things are not always what they seem at first. This can help you keep an open mind and be kind to everyone, even if they seem different at first. Keep up the great reading, Qamar!

In the book “The Haunted Castle” it was about a mouse named Geronimo that lived in the capital of Mouse Island. The capital of Mouse Island was the city New Mouse. Geronimo ran a newspaper business. He had three brothers and one sister. Every mouse on mouse island was very friendly to each other. The island was very ordinary with no surprises. That all changed one day when Geronimo received a call from his uncle Sam. Sam wanted to have a family and friend party at the creepy castle that was very far away from the city of New Mouse. Geronimo decided to take his three brothers and one sister to the haunted castle to have a party with their uncle Sam. They knew it would be a creepy adventure. After a very long car ride they finally reached the haunted castle. When they had arrived there they were thinking about turning around and not seeing their uncle Sam. I think that the book is worth reading to find out what happens at the haunted castle. This was a very easy book to follow along with. It would be good for a younger child to read. It also did a nice job at keeping me interested in the book.

I love uncle Samuel S. Stingysnout. I can't stop laughing whenever he says somethings, does something. It's so funny. You see he is a bit stingy. He has got money but doesn't share it or even spent it.

Don't know why the title is "The haunted castle" because it's so far not haunted !! It's just a mouse's wedding and I'm very disappointed but by the way it was a funny book to read in English and that's cool.

One last read through before they go to a new owner. This one isn't one of my favorites, but was the only one my kid remotely liked from the series because she hoped it would be scary.

I do see why they are so popular with kids. I can appreciate the illustrations and font choices.
