In Angel Lost, seventh in F. M. Meredith's Rocky Bluff Police Department series--a cross between The Waltons and Hill Street Blues...Detective Doug Milligan is set to marry Officer Stacey Wilbur. As their wedding day approaches, he is unhappy...about her assignment to jog the beach in hopes of catching a pervert who has been exposing himself to women. Abel Navarro's mother is showing signs of Alzheimer's, the new transfer from LAPD has a problem that won't be solved merely by transferring to a small town, and a reflection on a plate glass window downtown is seen by some as a sign from God because it appears to be an angel. Just as things seem to be coming to a head, a serial kidnapper -- and perhaps murderer -- who has been working his way south from Oregon, shows up... Award winning author F.M. This is a great addition to this series. There is an intensity that kept me on the edge off my seat. There is an error in the reading order. This book should be book 7 and book 7 should be book eight. In book 7 the protagonists are married and there are references to the wedding and a kidnapping. However in book 8 they aren't married yet.
Finally a heroine who is smart and uses her head! This was a good story. I like Stacy and how is isn’t the typical stupid heroine who puts everyone at risk. Looking forward to more by this author.
I enjoyed the variety of characters; they were described fairly well. The story had some intense moments and kept my interest. I would read another by this author.
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so.Shelley MA
The small town of Rocky Bluff in Ventura County is abuzz with excitement. An angel is sighted in the window of a downtown store. Residents gather to view the angel and give their opinion as to the reason the angel has appeared. Most agree that it is a miracle but no one knows how the angel happened to appear.
There’s also a lot of excitement regarding the forthcoming marriage of Officer Stacey Wilbur and Detective Doug Milligan of the Rocky Bluff Police Department. The wedding has been planned down to the smallest detail with Stacey’s family and friends all pitching in to make Stacey’s wedding a day to remember.
Abel Navarro, Stacey and Doug’s fellow worker, has a lot on his mind. Abel’s mother is beginning to show signs of Alzheimer’s. The new addition to the Rocky Bluff Police Department, Vaughn Aragon, a transfer from Los Angeles, is having a second thoughts about requesting the transfer to Rocky Bluff. Vaughn is haunted by a shooting that happened in Los Angeles but is not comfortable enough to share his experience with his fellow officers.
However, there is more going on than the angel miracle and the personal happenings of the officers in the close net community. The department has received several complaints about an early morning jogger who is flashing women on the beach. When Stacy takes on the job of attempting to catch the jogger, she runs into more trouble than she ever expected.
This is the seventh book in the Rocky Bluff series. The book can be read as a stand-alone. Many of the characters have been highlighted in previous books in the series and readers will be glad to see their return. Although a lot of the book dwells on happy events, there is plenty of crime going on in Rocky Bluff to keep the readers glued to the book.
The Rocky Bluff P. D. series by F. M. Meredith is close to the top of my favorites list. Officer Stacey Wilbur, head (and only member) of the Rocky Bluff P. D. Vice Squad, is out to catch a man who's been exposing himself to females jogging on the beach, and may be dangerous. However, it's hard for her to concentrate on any police activities since her wedding to Rocky Bluff Detective Doug Milligan is less than two weeks away, and her head is full of plans for that event.
Stacey is the main character in F. M. Meredith's series, but she isn't the only P.D. officer with a private life moving alongside (and sometimes into) his or her job. That's one reason I love this series. There are many amazingly interesting and compelling point of view characters. My friends in Rocky Bluff (for that's what they are now) share their on-going family joys and problems along with various law enforcement cases in progress they are involved in.
Human, warm, poignant, and yes, often heart-thumping and increasingly frightening, this trip to Rocky Bluff is one I praise to all readers, no matter what type of mystery they enjoy most. It has something for everyone. Highly recommended.
"Angel Lost" is a wonderful edition to F.M. Meredith's Rocky Bluff mystery series. Stacey and Doug, two officers in the Rocky Bluff police force, are engaged to be married but, before the Big Day, several events are taking place in the small town that will interfere with their plans. Someone is flashing and harassing women as they jog on the beach and Stacey goes undercover to catch the culprit. When the man is apprehended, the town residents, including Stacey, feel safe once more. But a misplaced fax warning the police of a serial killer who is abducting women in beachfront communities goes unread and, when Stacey jogs on the beach the morning of her wedding, things take a turn for the worse. What part does an angel play in the story? You'll have to read the book to find out.
Although this was the seventh in the Rocky bluff Police Department series, it was the first that I had read, and I found it completely fine as a stand-alone. I want to thank the author for providing a suspenseful story with intriguing characters and all with NO profanity. We get a glimpse of the private concerns and personal lives of various officers, as well as having a mystery to solve when a with an abduction by a serial killer. I enjoyed this story very much. My only complaint is minor, but I wonder what was really behind the angel vision. I won the book on a Goodreads Giveaway but the opinions are my own.
The Rocky Bluff Police Department has its hands full when an angel appears in the window of a local furniture store, a pervert exposes himself to women jogging along the beach, and Officer Stacey Wilbur plans for her upcoming wedding. It also appears that a serial kidnapper may be in the area.
This story has all of the elements you could ask for in a mystery, and characters that are decidedly likable. The character development is terrific.
“Angel Lost” is a quick-read, feel-good story with no surprises in its all-too-predictable plot. Nevertheless, it’s a leave-the-reader smiling story of a police department, a small seaside town filled with people that care about each other, and a mysterious appearance at the downtown furniture store.
But even towns as small as Rocky Bluff have their perverts, their thieves, and their kidnappers. Thank goodness they also have a wonderful guardian angel . . . .
I don't know what to say. the first 60% of the book was characters going about their jobs then something happened which was resolved quickly and oddly without much care. then aragon's problem,,,,and I still don't know what the angel had to do with anything. seems to me that could've been neatly woven into Aragon since he and Felix were there....oh never mind. just read it and see what I mean when I say hmmmm
As stated in other reviews one of my favorite series. This one is a thrilling adventure which keeps you guessing to end. Pre wedding situation should resonate with anyone been there or going. As usual characters are so real you feel they are close friends. Summer reading list must include at least this book from series.
Pros: love the small town setting, the characters are likeable & believable. The events in the story kept my interest until the end. Cons: The angel - what was that all about?! I had hoped to read the FBI agent was able to shed some details and closure on the cases that lead him to Rocky Bluff and Stacey.
I received this book as a firstreads giveaway. I enjoyed reading about the lives of the characters and their relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. The family scenarios were realistically detailed. This book grabbed my attention and held it to the very last line.
It was an enjoyable read, but just a little too simple. The whole premise of the angel in the window was never explained, and it was on the whole, ok, but not great. I will say, however, that the author does a very good job of helping us to,understand and like the characters.
This novel has it all love, romance, and real life suspense coupled with a multiple characters storyline that is so well linked together it'll grab your interest and keep it right till the very end of the moving crime novel.
I like that the police officers have personal lives with real problems and real joys. I was confused by the angel in the store window since there was no explanation.
