This was a quick and enjoyable read. Usually, the biggest problem that I have with menage stories is that it's usually all about the girl. That never seems quite realistic to me, that three people could be in such an intimate relationship and yet have two of the members of that relationship completely uninvolved with each other. When you live in such close proximity with someone and you get to know them the way no one else does, it's hard not to feel any emotions toward that person. In my mind, proximity and complete and intimate knowledge of someone, especially sexually, can't help but beget affection and eventually even love. I loved that this book didn't have that, a relationship based solely on the needs of one person, the girl.
I loved that this story started with two best friends that are dealing with an evolving friendship, although I have to say that James is a diabolical genius with his deviously slow and subtle seduction of Keegan. The first part of the book was about their relationship, and then we meet Rory, and that relationship begins.
Now, even though I liked this story, it was by no means perfect. The pacing was a bit of a problem for me. It started out slow with Keegan coming to terms with his new feelings towards James; then after they have sex, things seem to go from 0-60 as soon as they meet Rory. Nothing ever felt settled to me; they weren't yet comfortable with their new relationship yet were ready to plunge right into a new one with a complete stranger. I also would have liked read more about Keegan coming to terms with loving two people, a man and a woman, and how he would deal with revealing this to his friends and family. Basically, the story wrapped up to quickly. And as for the bad guys, they weren't even a little bit impressive, they could have been but they were dealt with so quickly, it felt more like a pit stop. I also wish we got a little bit more side characters, they were mentioned but there was no time to sense any kind of bond, which isn't motivating toward reading their stories in future books in a series. However, because it's hard to find a menage story that is truly a menage, a blend of three distinct people and personalities all falling in love with each other, in every sense of the word, I will read the rest of the series.
Now to explain my rating: 3.5 stars is because, while I little more than simply liked the story as the 3 stars indicate, it didn't have that little extra oomph! that would have propelled it into 4 star category for me.
I did not read the blurb for the book before checking it out at the library. Also, the copy I received had a different cover. I did not realize how much sex would be in the book, or the ménage scenarios. That said, the story line was just ok. I think it probably needs to be a longer book in order to develop the characters a bit more. Different sexual situations do not bother me, but I’ll probably not continue the series because of the lack of story.
A really good, quick read! This book follows James, Keegan and Rory who all have psychic abilities, each one different from the other. The story starts off with just James and Keegan and then Rory is introduced when the big buff boys are sent on a mission of search and retrieve only for retrieve to be stolen and then retrieved again 🤣 First time reading a book with characters doing what they do 😉 no spoilers here, and the spice was 100% spicing 🥵
Very interesting; the plot was kind of skimmed over [not shallow, just kind of ... avoided, for the most part - more on that], and I felt certain points could have been explained a lot more, but for the most part I had great fun reading "The Lost Locket."
Now, I like menage stories but it's so hard to find a good m/m/f that's just that - m/m/f. Not m/f/m where the woman gets all the bloody attention because to me, no matter how strong a woman is, that's just ridiculous. Trying to have a sexual relationship with two hypersexual men [as which always seems the case in m/f/m novels] just isn't feasible, and I always come away from it with a bad taste in my mouth and really can't consider the female in the middle as something more than a slut. Thankfully, "The Locket" is different. Keegan and James are good friends first, at times caring and at other times astoundingly ... male. They put each other down, punch each other [with no hard feelings a minute later], and are alternately very push-forward and very lets-not-face-it. They're relation turned sexual before they even meet Rory, even if it was only by a few days.
Then, into Rory - who I liked all her own. The first scene with her, I laughed and rooted right along with her. As a third, she was an awesome choice. But when they all got together ... I don't know. I kind of felt all three changed their tune and fell down a peg into the more 'normal' range for m/m/f stories written by others. Suddenly pussies were weeping and the men were all about the boobies and cunt and less about each other. Oh, there was a smattering of m/m attraction still in there, but it was all about the woman, mostly. Not as bad as other novels, but still. By the end, Rory was certainly pushing them more toward being involved with each other because it turned her on, too, so there was a definite sense of 'to get better' further into the relationship.
As for the plot - it was VERY cool. The locket, the history, the mysterious benefactor ... my only complaint? only about 30 pages was actual plot, or definition of plot. The other 150 or so was about the relationship, which is good all its own, it's just the surrounding story was so interesting I really, really wish more time had been spent on it, and that the novel was balanced out a little more.
Keegan Price and James Foreman had talents, and part of their routine here lately was to subdue those talents by working out in the gym they now worked at. It was a far cry from where they had come from, a secret lab that fed them drugs and made their mental powers extraordinary. They and a bunch of others involved in that clandestine program also worked at the gym, while others went to work for other agencies. Now they were in lay-low mode because of their former employer and the two FBI agents who kept an eye on the lot of them. But Jack Keiser, their boss, both at the agency and now in the gym, was sending them on a mission to retrieve a locket that was at least a couple of centuries old. James couldn’t be more excited to go on this working vacation with Keegan because ever since he met Keegan, he’s had a crush on him. He wanted that heterosexual, ripped, muscle-bound hunk of a man inside him; either end, it did not matter. He had a mounting lust for the man. It did not matter to him, and his six foot plus muscled frame, he would play bottom for that man who could toss him around like some five foot nothing cheerleader. He was going to use this trip to his advantage and test to see if those strange feelings he had been getting from Keegan could lead somewhere.
The physical world-building left fuzzy edges but was good enough to communicate the current situation, while the ambiance of the world-building was very well done. The character interaction was surprisingly good in spots and awkward in others, just as it should be.
WARNING: ADULT CONTENT: Hetero men and women who like hetero-only men, pass this read by as this read contains m/m/f, not m/f/m, which means male-on-male action and not a female that is the center of attention for the men, at least not all the time. I give this burgeoning romance menage four stars out of five stars.
James Foreman and Keegan Price are part of an elite psychic team that the government shut down when they were deemed "unnecessary". They are now part of an organization that was formed from the defunct team and they use their psychic abilities for many purposes. When James and Keegan are sent by their boss to retrieve a stolen locket, they don't expect to find something that was missing from their lives, namely a blonde bombshell. Rory Taylor is as independent as they come. She's been on her own since she was sixteen, her parents gone and her extended family not worth a tarnished penny. The pendant around her neck is the only thing that connects her to her mother, physically and psychically. She has an affinity for all gemstones and the pendant draws her to them, in their raw form and after they have been crafted into beautiful jewellery. When the men are on the road to find her, their partnership becomes a lot closer as the men explore their changing dynamics. When they do catch up with Taylor, they find that their duo becomes a threesome with little effort. It will take some careful planning to bring Taylor and the pendant back to their headquarters seeing as there are others that want the locket for themselves.

Heather's Notes While this story was short, it did not feel rushed. I enjoyed the story and liked the characters. I will definitely be continuing this series.
I was excited to find a new paranormal(ish) that had varied types for relationships (m/m/f, m/m, m/f/m). But I was a little disappointed in this first book. At first I thought maybe I missed a book in the series because there were things that were just glossed over (like it had been explained in a previous book). Ex: What happened with Rory in Atlanta, why the PWP was discontinued, what was with the drugs they gave the people in PWP, and there is so much more). I never really understood why the guys were hunting other objects on the trip Jackson Heights. Anyway, it seemed that the author thought of ideas to use but never really explained the details behind it. All this didn't make for a terrible book, it made for a quick and easy read. I would have enjoyed the book more if there would have been explanations to more things. I don't think I will read anymore of this series, but I will read other series by Marie Harte.

I actually kinda liked this! Was the writing the best? No, but it was still very entertaining and very very steamy!! This is a m/m/f romance, suspense, and thriller novel about individuals with psychic powers! I was trying to read a thriller book and found one with spice, which made it even better! It is definitely an explicit story. The actual storyline wasn't very strong, I was mostly here for the smut lol but enjoyed it nonetheless! I will say goodreads did me dirty. I read this book from Libby reading on Kindle Unlimited. The cover on those two sources was literally a man with a locket and didn't give away the amount of spice in the book! Then I go to goodreads and all I see are abs and boobs 😂😂😂 no subtly there lmao!
3.5 stars. Was surprised to see this series re-released into Kindle Unlimited. I know I read some of these years ago so grabbed them to reread. Read this on holiday and cannot find my notes so will review from memory. Very enjoyable story with likeable characters, a few things happen that I rolled my eyes at. Liked the fact these people have powers but not sure if this is an offshoot of another series. Will be reading the rest of the series as I liked to other characters in this different group. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
The Lost Locket is the first in Marie Harte’s PowerUp! PNR series. James Foreman and Keegan Price are two former government operatives from their special paranormal branch. Newly tasked with a mission to recover a special locket, they admit along the way to deeper feelings for each other and also discover that the owner of the locket provokes similarly strong emotions.
The Lost Locket is an entertaining read with some intriguing world building and well-written characters and friendships. Can’t wait to enjoy the rest of the series!
Wow I loved it.. Two men with a new connection add a girl who clicks with them both.. She has a locket that the men have been charged with retrieving. Greedy relatives of hers steal her locket (which enhances psychic abilities) but our heroes save the day. Turns out she is related to the client and he is happy that she is staying in the area with her lovers, and she can keep the locket. She has bought them a house with money from the client after he bought her collection of gems, so everyone is happy.. she is opening a jewellery store.

"GQ" James has wanted sexy giant, Keegan, the Texan, for the last three years and finally has his chance to show him on their retrieval assignment. Then- Bam! They meet the beautiful and sweet woman, Rory, that will complete them. Between all their powers they overcome Rory's evil uncles and return to find their best future. It's been awhile but it was nice to revisit the Power Up crew again. I will keep reading.
Short, shallow, mmf. Interesting premise but simplistic and sometimes clunky writing. Spicy times were oddly cold and almost boring due to lack of feels. It's kind of like the author could have written a great novel but was forced to pare it down to a small book. The result is lots telling with no showing and no subtly. This is the first time I've read anything by this author and I'm not interested enough to read the next book in the series.
Three star, but just barely. If you’re looking for a book that has a lot of sex scenes, this is for you. If you’re looking for complex character development and a full-bodied plot that is significantly more than a device to tie the sex scenes together, not so much. But it was still entertaining, thus the three stars.
Loved the connection between the two guys and Rory made it very hot. It was the paranormal bit I didn't get. I felt the story would have stood on its own. Will read more of Marie's books though.
A paranormal story about a group of gifted former FBI agents starts with this first book. Add in some action and romance and you have a great book here. Looking forward to the second!
I’m pretty sure this was the first time I’ve ever read anything from this particular author and I was really surprised I loved it. Not my usual kind of book. Very well written. Thank you for your great story. Ok I am off to read what’s next.
It was okay. Definitely more of a focus on the romance than the mystery, but it was interesting to see how different psychic powers were utilized. Especially rarer ones than are usually seen in "super fiction."
Well, it was not what I was expecting, but pleasantly surprised. After finishing the Cougar Falls series, I'm looking forward to reading the power-up books. Marie has a great way of introducing characters subtly before they get their own book so can't wait to see who's next and what they can do.
No character development. Characters didn't act like real people. Repetitive. I've read better amateur fiction on the web. Will not continue with author.
