About the author

Jesse Gordon currently resides in southern California, though he has lived in places all over the United States, and has collected more than his fair share of stories over the years. As an author, his career began in the fourth grade (read: a binder full of Star Trek vignettes). Since then he has written over 40 short stories, novelettes, and novellas. His novels include Time Chaser, The Knack, Stories from the Steel Garden, and Heroes' Day. He has also compiled a pair of anthologies: The Midnight Recollections and The Reformed Citizen. More recently, he has turned to screenwriting. Two of his scripts are being produced by Pulsar Pictures: Node, and The Oatmeal Man. In addition to his short fiction, novel, and screenplay work, Jesse also runs an absurdist humor webserial called SuperMegaNet, the first two volumes of which are now in print.

Género. Novela corta.

Lo que nos cuenta. Demis acaba de ser despedido porque su aspecto y conducta no están adaptados a las nuevas necesidades y demandas de la sociedad, ya que él sigue siendo un Fogy. Cuando decide remojar las penas en alcohol, va a un bar que conoce y que sigue manteniéndose lejos de las nuevas tendencias en ocio, en el que conoce a Chronos, modificado epigenéticamente para ser más alto, más guapo, más inteligente y mejor, lo que se llama un Babe. La conversación que establecen y un inesperado suceso hacen que Demis se plantee ciertas cosas. Obra revisada para su edición del 2010, incluyendo el cambio de su nombre original, “Fogy”.

Good little vignette. The story never actually goes anywhere, this is more of a finger-exercise, an author exploring a situation and two characters and I'm cool with that. The world Gordon creates here has potential, though: perhaps a science fiction / detective mashup like GATTACA could be set in it.
