Ever wonder what happened to the scary vampire? The icky, white-faced creature of the night? The kind of vampire that vants to suck your blooood, not the kind that wants to kiss you silly? Well, only one such vampire remains, huddled in his New York apartment. He has one last chance to save his race. One last chance—and a foolproof plan. Or so he thinks… “The spellbinding Grayson…gives readers their money’s worth by taking the familiar and turning it on its ear, with humor and charm.” —RT Book Reviews
It feels so good to read a story with a poverty-stricken vampire in it.
This is actually two stories in one e-book. The first, The Last Vampire, is a hilarious story about a vampire who tries to save his race from the effect of romantic vampire stories. The twist is incredible. I did NOT see that coming and I laughed so loud I'm sure it scared my kids. Or at least surprised them. Definitely worth the time and I'm giving this five stars for that story alone.
The second one (Cosmic Balances, Inc.) was okay. I liked the idea of the world, and that particular view of heaven and karma. I had a hard time following what was happening, and the ending was a bit of a letdown for me. But YMMV. I have a hard time getting into stories like that in the first place.
(Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think that Cosmic Balances feels like a novel. If so, I'd be interested in reading a novel version of that world. I think it'd be a very good story.)
