Very sound journalistic work, offering a view on American foreign policy in the Caribbean. But limited to the period 1990-1994. Read this in preparation of a trip to Haiti. Outdated by now, I guess.
This is a book of collected journalism pieces/essays/memos about Haiti at the time of the coup that overthrew Aristide. That's the 1991 coup that overtrew Aristide, not the 2004 coup that overthrew Aristide...Haiti is not a stable place. And it's not fun to live there! At least, that's what I gather from these essays. And the dismal economic situation is due in large part to the United States. Surprise!
