Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez: The new romance on the block to make your toes curl!

Rate this book
Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez brings to you all the beloved tropes of the hottest romance novels: The Spanish Love Deception, The Kiss Quotient, It Happened One Summer and more!

Rosa Álvarez leads two lives.

One is deceptively normal. A respectable physiotherapist living in Los Angeles: the city of fish tacos and famous bigwigs. She works hard at her job, loves living the single life, and has a trip home to Mexico at the very top of her priority list.

The other is her mother’s worst nightmare.

For one, the first is a lie. She does love her job, but its uniqueness would put any good chick flick to shame. She hasn’t been on a date in five years, at least, not any good ones. And she will do anything to avoid a trip to her sleepy hometown.

But when a notorious man from her past shows up in LA, Rosa’s secret life starts unravelling. There’s also the matter of the really annoying actor (who just so happens to be annoyingly good-looking) she keeps bumping into whom she cannot seem to shake off.

As her lies pile up, will Rosa be able to keep her two worlds separate? Or will her mother’s flying chancla find her first?

Rosa Álvarez, a mexican beauty, mad about murder documentary and believer in chocolate and coffee, leads two lives. One is normal, another a respectable physiotherapist living in Los Angeles. She loves her job but fears the worst if her parents find out because of the uniqueness of it. Everything is running smoothly in her life, well not everything as the constant nagging feeling crush her soul everytime she thinks of how lonely her life is, that she hasn't been on a date in five years. But when people from her past shows up in LA, Rosa's life starts unraveling. Then there's the matter of a really annoying actor. What will happen when her past and present gets mixed up inbetween her cleverly crafted lies?

"Eternally Single Rosa Álvarez" is a contemporary, ya, romcom that gives you the perfect dose of sad and sweet lovestory filling your heart with warmth. The book revolves around Rosa and her unique little world. The book brings a completely different premise and perspective and what a sudden surprise it was. I found a strange relaxation and calmness while reading this book. This is a relatively short book and with that engaging, pacey narrative I finished it in a jiffy. I must say the characters are sweet and heartwarming. But what's more good is all the characters have a role to play in this book, it made the plotline much more immersive and all encompassing. I have no qualms about this book

Talking about the writing, it's amazing and simple. Writing quality is also good and beginner friendly. This is one of the rare lovestory book that I didn't find cheesy. I enjoyed the easy comfort it provided. Recommended to love story and romance readers.

What an absolutely delightful book by the debut author, Neerja Pawar!

I had such a good time reading all about Rosa Alvarez. It felt like I was watching a really fun, emotional and comedy movie with swoonworthy hero.

Rosa's life has been great. But her profession has kept her lying to everyone. It was such a beautiful journey to see Rosa stumble and fall and grow and own up to her mistakes. I loved what she did and how good she was at her profession. I absolutely loved it.

I love Samuel Jackson. Not the avenger (lol). He's such a charming, suit-wearing actor hero, who plans the best dates, and has the funniest and silliest and the most romantic conversations with Rosa. I love him!!

Read this, if you love:
- Cute meet cute
- Mess of a heroine but eventual growth
- Cutest banters and conversations
- Great friendships. Just the best!
- Family problems and resolutions
- Grand gesture
- Closed door (there was mainly just a kiss)(no fade to black) but surprisingly that didn't take away from the story for me.

This was a quick, cute read. I adored the POC rep and I related to so many things that Rose struggled with as a South Asian myself. There were parts of the story that I struggled to connect with - hence the 3 stars - but otherwise it was a decent read.

*Thank you to Neerja Pawar, Saga Fiction and Book Sirens for providing me with an ARC!

Honest Review Time:

I was given this ARC as a PDF from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Rosa has a secret...a big secret. Her parents think she's moved to LA to be a physiotherapist, but little do they know she has a different occupation entirely--one that requires complete discretion, and makes many think it's indecent. Despite the fact that she truly helps people, she knows her family in Mexico wouldn't understand.

Rosa also deals with intimacy issues because of her upbringing. Her parents were forced into an unhappy marriage that they never really seemed to overcome, and the effects have Rosa keeping everyone at arms length... even Sam.

Sam and Rosa run into each other, literally, when Rosa is trying to avoid someone from her home town. They bump into each other again, and again, and Rosa finally decides to give romance a chance. Through a few ups and downs, Rosa and Sam have to navigate the secrecy of her job, the very public presence of his own job, and her relationship with her family.

I was so very delighted to be offered the opportunity to review this book, and love that this sweet little romance comes out on VALENTINES Day! I definitely enjoyed the fun flirtatious behavior between Sam and Rosa, and the witty interactions with her best friend Eloise.

If I were to give any criticism of this book, I think there could be one more pass through with an editor. I feel like a couple of language issues could be rectified, but it was not at all enough of an issue to interrupt the reading process.

It's a very quick read and of course has an HEA.

4/5 🌟
0/5 🫑 (kissing, and the thought of intimacy one day)

Having lived as an American ex-pat in South America for several years when I was a child, I’ve always made it a point to research and embrace international cultural differences. I’m at ease with the Metric system, Celsius temperatures, no ice cubes in drinks in Europe, no tipping in certain countries, saving face techniques, etc. This novel made me realize I missed an important difference when it comes to grammar. Apparently, everyone else but the U.S. who writes in English switches their usage of Single quotes (‘) and double quotes (“). Their dialog is surrounded by single quotes ‘He said that,’ and quotes of others inside that dialog have the double quotes: ‘He told me “Don’t even think about it” as if he were my father.’ This took me a good chapter to acclimate. I was also tickled to see that everyone outside the U.S. spells ‘pajamas’ with a ‘y’: ‘pyjamas’. It’s cuter that way. I wonder if I can get away with it. To any others that share in this newfound knowledge, these are not typos; keep reading. It’s worth it.

This book’s prose and story are as lovely, warm, and comfortable as being one of Rosa’s clients in her secret job (you’ll have to read it to find out what that is). What I can say is it’s an intriguing type of therapy that’s greatly needed throughout the world, especially after Covid has made us all so isolated. The author’s words have a lovely flow about them, as if she's humming a lullaby to get you into a soothing state of mind. The character’s challenges and triumphs are the main focus, which is my personal favorite.

If you’re looking for steamy love scenes, this isn’t your book. What it does have is love, for your friends, family, a new partner, and an old partner, but mostly for oneself, which is the most important love affair that we should all experience. If we can’t love ourselves, how can we expect anyone else to?

It’s a quick read without expounding on extraneous plotlines that aren’t necessary (thank you, very much). It keeps the reader where it should be, on the main character. It’s not too much, not too little, just the right amount of ajwain in your pakora.

Neerja Pawar's 'Eternally Single' is a delightful blend of love clichés with a twist, situated properly between a modern rom-com and a sincere journey of self-discovery.

What is the book's most notable feature? A completely unique premise! Meet Rosa lvarez, a Los Angeles-based physiotherapist who also works as a professional cuddler. This idea alone will catch your interest and set the stage for a wonderful relationship filled with unusual patterns and surprises. Rosa's relations, especially to her family, are depicted with realism, adding depth and relatability.

Furthermore, 'Eternally Single' excels in delving into the complexities of intimacy and emotion. Rosa's journey to connect with people is handled delicately, giving emotional depth to the plot. However, the pacing periodically slips, leaving the character behind.

The relationship is beautiful and uplifting, but it lacks the emotional depth that could have improved the tale. Still, it's a sweet, comfortable read for times you need to escape the blues without entering a sugary world. Consider it a warm hug from a dear friend, a book that makes you crave Rosa's job even if, like me, you'd transform it into a never-ending embracing session.

Overall, a great rom-com book with cozy vibes!

Eternally Single, Rosa Alvarez

Oh what a sweet, sweet book this was. Rosa Alvarez is your Mexican girl in the big town, Los Angeles who is living the ideal life that any conservative small town parent would dream of. Except, she’s not. She is a professional cuddler (I didn’t know this job existed until I read this book), a therapist of sorts that helps people recover from their traumas through touch therapy. Despite being super proud and happy about her job and herself, she can’t reveal this to anyone in fear of being judged. Add to this a super hot actor, Samuel Jackson who Rosa can’t stop running into or stop flirting with and a gorgeously sweet ex, Juan who also keeps running into her and is actually concerned about her life. What are missing? An annoyingly dominating but caring girlfriend, Eloise who also works with Rosa. You can now imagine what this story would look like? This book was like a warm cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day with your favourite romcom on TV. The character development was great and I was amazed by how similar Mexican parents are to Indian parents. Very nosy but also always there for family. This book is something you should pick up if you like romantic novels or are in a reading slump. It is sure to bring a smile to your face. A solid 4-star read :)

Would you rather call it a book review or I am a simp for this book, so please read because we can talk!

I got you another rom-com rec (do you think I need another genre check? -- eh, this is more fun!)

Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez by @writosaurusrex ❤️

Scroll through for the aesthetics, for the feel of the book, for understanding what it is about, and a playlist! (What else does one need to convince you to check it out ALREADY!? )

This story will make you forget your reality and you will immerse in the story, you might actually feel like you are there with the characters, because of how the book is written.

Please don't confuse rom-com with just something to do with a boy and a girl falling in love, this one (specifically) talks about confidence, unconventional professions, and society's difficulty to accept the unknown. The story has a lot of dimensions to it.

Okay now go listen to the playlist and buy the book!

Thank you to BookSirens and the Saga Fiction for the review copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own ☻

According to her parents, Rosa Alvarez is a well-respected physiotherapist living in LA - while in reality Rosa is enjoying her life, working a job that fulfils her and helps people, while simultaneously being something that her parents would definitely not approve of.

While avoiding someone from back home, Rosa - quite literally- runs into Sam, an actor who pretends to be Rosa’s colleague to help get her out of the situation she found herself in. Chance encounters with Sam then happen frequently until he convinces her to give him a shot.

I adored Rosa and Sam’s dynamic from their first meeting. While this was less of a romance than I initially thought, their understanding of each other and witty comments showed why they complement each other.

I am someone who has never taken an interest in reading romance, but decided to give this a shot and was taken by surprise how it had my attention till the very end.

This is a very easy, feel-good read, yet has a strong plotline and beautiful character arcs. I am also in love with the tiny aesthetic & cultural details, and a clever use of words that make reading this book a delightful experience, and most importantly, relatable and real.

Congratulations and very well done, Neerja. I would love to see you thrive as an author and read more of your work.

What an enjoyable book! I flew through the story and had a great time reading.
Rosa is a professional cuddler (as a form of therapy), but has not told her parents, her ex-boyfriend / sort of best friend, and also not the new guy she meets…

The author described the various interpersonal relationships very well, and though the drama between Rosa and her parents felt a bit much too me and felt too easily resolved, it came across as real and was a great tool to drive the story forward.

I received an ARC of this book (thanks!) and these are my own opinions.

Thank you BookSirens for providing me with this book, I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rosa Álvarez has a secret life. Her family believes she is a respectable physiotherapist living in Los Angeles, and while that may be partially true, she has a secret job--one that is outlandish or seems like one. Rosa loves her job, but she accepts that her family will not be able to understand what she does for a living, so she shuts them out.

This was a quick & cute read with a creative plot and great representation. The family dynamics were represented in such a raw and honest way. I love romcoms that feel realistic and this was definitely one of them.

I loved Rosa's character development and her little found family. Rosa struggled with intimacy due to her own parents' relaitonship and she found a way to help others who have similar problems. She spent most of the book lying her way out of questions regarding her job and shielding herself from almost everyone she's close to-- except for Eloise. I absolutely loved Eloise and Rosa's friendship, they were adorable. I loved Rosa's relationship with Manuel and Juan. I especially loved how after everything blew up in Rosa's face, her found family was there to help her in every step of the way, knowing she'd have trouble with willingly asking for help. Juan was such a nice addition, a man who truly cares about Rosa as a friend.

I love love loved Rosa and Sam. Their first meeting was absolutely romcom material and I loved how Sam even commented about it. Sam was truly a perfect man, he was so understanding and his love was so pure. Rosa put a great deal of effort into pushing Sam away, yet she was never succesful in her efforts. The last scene was so adorable, I loved how there was no miscommunication. Sam was ready to give Rosa the space she needed and Rosa was ready to accept that she can love and trust.

Rosa. The girl who grew up in a family with lots of bickering--not in a good way. Her parents' issues and the way they raised Rosa caused her to have intimacy issues. She thought she was incapable of loving someone as she's never seen her parents in love. Yet in the end, she found out that all she had to do was simply let herself feel freely. I liked that Rosa got the chance to explain her job to her parents and tell her mother what they'd done wrong and I liked that Mrs. Álvarez owned up to her actions. It was amazing to see the woman Rosa becomes at the end.

Overall, this was a very cute read with very real characters and very real issues. If you're looking for a quick & heartwarming read this book is perfect for you.

Rosa who works as a 'professional cuddler' in Los angeles far away from her hometown Mexico lives two lives:- one her real life were she loves her job and is living a satisfied life as a 'workaholic' which is a secret for her family and her hometown, on the other side is her virtual life were her family and hometown thinks of her having a big job and is proud of her. She is not sure about how long she can keep that bubble safe. One day she meets Samuel, an aspiring actor who saves her when she was about to get exposed. What is in treasure for them? Will love blossom despite her having a shameful job(according to those who don't know about it.)? What will happen when her family comes to know about her real profession? Set your bed to read this perfect cuddly work with great comfort...

🫂 In most cases the cover page and title attracts me in picking a book. This book is no different. With it's vibrant cover and relatable title it drew my attention.
🫂 The narration is engaging and soothing at the same time. The language is easy going. The use of Spanish words added to its beauty.(It also made me take help from google translate.🙈)
🫂 Oh! What to say about the characters?! They were far above than good!!! I love Rosa, Sam, Juan, El, Sameera and Manuel!!!
🫂 In many places I found myself in Rosa. (Especially when Sam told her that she is the one who makes it tough and not her job.)
🫂 Currently I am in a dizzy state to decide whom to choose as my fictional crush, Sam or Juan. Both are too good to be true. They raised my expectations about relationships with understanding as a base.
🫂 I like Jaydn too. I agree that she created all the mess for Rosa but it ultimately led in clearing all the clouds surrounding and choking her to stay hidden by making a barrier of lies.
🫂 Rosa's parents are not different from Indian parents. Her mother's concern is what I experience everyday from my own family. It is a relief to realise that there are parents who are stubborn and conservative when it comes to their children in Mexico too.

📌 This was a highly unexpected great read for me. I never thought that I'll ever like a romance this much. Hoping to read more such works with relatable stuff.

⏩ Tell me one ambition you have had since your childhood.

💛 Eternally Single: Rosa Alvarez by Neerja Pawar is one of the cutest, amusing, and probably the best romantic story I enjoyed.

💛 I am not much into the romance genre or romantic love stories, apart from a few.

💛 I love the cover - bright, attractive, aesthetic.

💛 This book literally made me want to explore the genre more.

💛 As the title says, this book is short, cute, thought-provoking (yes, it is), and CUDDLY read.

💛 Rosa Alvarez, living in New York alone, is bubbly, sweet, funny, clumsy, but true to herself, doing her secretive and not so secretive job of being a professional Professional Cuddler.

💛 Amusing, right? Sounds weird? To me, it sounds too, but the more I explore this book, the more I understand that it's "Us" who put meanings into all these words and different jobs.

💛 Why is there any meaning? It's your passion; you're enjoying it, and you're making money out of it. Why connect "good", "bad" and "unethical" with that?

💛 Bringing someone comfort without judging them is definitely not a bad thing.

💛 Well, for Rosa, she never had the courage to tell her parents about her job because her parents would find one more reason to accuse her.

💛 As the story progresses, Rosa stumbles upon this new hot stranger who is interguing her mind. Samuel Jackson (from Avangers ?)

💛 They were on good terms, but what about her job? How will he react when he learns about her job?

💛 I love the part about the "first meeting" of Samuel and Rosa; it was so funny yet cute, I couldn't control my laugh—one of the best parts for me.

💛 I love Samuel's character; you need people in your life like someone who will never judge you and who will bring comfort, but I also love 💛Juan's character; you need an ex like him, trust me.

💛 I adore Eloise and Rosa's friendship; it will warm your heart.

💛 The writing was on point—relatable, realistic, sarcastic, and filled with humour.

💛 It's the book that will bring you comfort!

I have devoured this book in three hours, unable to put it down!

Rosa Alvarez has a secret, which she dutifully guards so that her family will never find out. But keeping huge secrets is a troublesome thing, and consumes much of one's energy. So much in fact, that it's really easy to let your guard down sometimes. This might result in telling one lie too many, downloading Tinder to satisfy curiosity, keeping handsome guys at arm's length, constantly feeding the fear of commitment, or all the above. It most definitely always results in a disaster. Rosa is only surprised that she actually has much more to lose than she thought she would. So when the secret becomes no more, she begins to understand that the only way to be happy was being honest from the start. But it might be too late to keep the only man that has made her feel the happiest she's ever been.

Eternally Singe, Rosa Alvarez is a delightful story that will quickly steal your heart. It is a cute rom-com, but one that tells about confidence, unconventional professions, and society's difficulty to accept the unknown. All these make this story only more interesting, but I must not forget that this is a romance at its core, and it is a very cute one! It is full of hilarious banter that had me smiling every second page, but also romantic moments that warmed my heart! It's Neerja Pawar's debut novel, but I can already tell she is a natural. The writing was light and the plot was consistent. The characters were diverse, charismatic, and what I always prize the most - authentic.

Read if you like:
- not so meet cute
- enemies to lovers
- unconventional profession
- delicious banter
- parental expectations
- generational differences
- social stigma
- the power of social media
- he falls first!
- workplace besties
- romantic dates

A huge thanks to Rashmika from Saga Fiction and Neerja for the possibility to read the ARC copy - I enjoyed every second of it!

This is one heartfelt, wholesome, adorable story & felt like a ray of warm gooey ray of sunshine, on a winter afternoon🌞🌞

•The Plot
Rosa has a BIG secret & Rosa has her guards up - do these chinks in her armor affect her relationships?

Eternally Single is a romcom w a mission - it sparks a conversation, w/o skimping out on inducing giggles, chuckles, blushes & most importantly, BANTER.

•The Characters
Where we tend to find a lot of main characters annoying, Rosa shines bright w her character arc. Not insufferable in the least, she's just a woman trying to improve, trying to make a difference. Nice, kind, sensitive, yet not a pushover - 😍🥰
Similar treatment is meted out to other female characters like Eloise, Sameera - strong, independent BOSS ladies!! Each different in their own way, supporting one another.

HOWEVER, no matter how well the females characters are written in this book, I CANNOT GET OVER THE MALE CHARACTERS. 🫠🫠
Samuel Jackson? PERFECTION. 🙇🏽‍♀️
Juan? Total cute aggression 🥹
Manuel? Straight up made me *hungrily* respect him😋

The men are sensitive, cheeky, flirty, remember lil details??????? Ngl jealous; happy for my girl Rosa😶‍🌫🫶🏻

•The Setting
Though set in LA, it has a certain 'flowery rivieras of European towns' vibe to it with lots of coffee and Mexican food!
Totally picturesque, absolute Netflix material

•Writing
A sensitive observation here, a little banter-flirt there aka well written, imo. The internal battle for parental approval & its consequent effect on self acceptance is portrayed with SENSITIVITY & KINDNESS. All types of relationships in the book are well developed, w good level of insight & great confrontational points.

Ms. Pawar knows exactly what us readers wants & oh does she write swoonworthy fictional men🤭

P.S. I completely lost my mind at the BONUS CHAPTER!! I hope there's a full fledged book comingg🥳

If you're a fan books like The Roommate, The Intimacy Experiment or Red, White & Royal Blue, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!

💛HIGHLY RECOMMENDED💛

This story is such a unique piece and fun to read, the whole book is just awesome, the perfect mix of rom-com and a witty, sad, funky, sweetest love story.
Just look at the book cover, how cute it is, I really liked the book when I saw it and I thought this is gonna be a morally single story I mean who doesn’t want to get into relationships and all, but it turned out really smoother than expected.

Rosa, our main character of the story, has been living her life peacefully and for the record she is living a double life, I mean, one is a Mexican beauty and the other is a physiotherapist. But the thing is no one knows about this and even her parents don’t know this at all. She has been doing good, but sometimes she feels lonely and I think most people feel lonely when they are living alone right. And she is been single for five freaking years, it’s been years since she went on a date and had good love life... So, suddenly, her life is stuck between of present and the past, like, her past comes into her life unwelcome, and now in the present, it is kind of mixed up, how is she gonna manage everything? when everything is going to explode and god gives opens a door for everyone right, that’s what happens in Rosa’s life, Samuel comes into her life, like, life saver, he is an actor, and how are they gonna make this happen? Did they fall in love with each other in the process of hiding everything? Read the book to know the story. You will be surprised to read their story for sure.

The whole plot of the book is just attractive and interesting, Samuel is just perfect, the way he understands her and the way he explains things to her, that was so good. The whole story is a kind of love, parents' concern towards their children, Mexican culture and the language, a mix of everything I could say, and I really loved that the author included Spanish words here and there. Overall the story is well crafted and good to read.

I absolutely loved "Eternally Single" by Neerja Pawar! This book is a true gem that I couldn't put down. I devoured it in one sitting, and those four hours were filled with pure delight.

From the very beginning, Neerja Pawar weaves a captivating tale that could easily be transformed into a blockbuster movie. The story is engaging, and I found myself immersed in the world of the protagonist, Rosa. Her profession is kept a secret, adding an element of intrigue that kept me guessing throughout, and I appreciate the author's decision to let readers discover it naturally.

The way the story unfolds, the chance encounters, and how Rosa meets her lover are nothing short of fabulous. I could vividly imagine the coffee shop, her office, and her apartment, thanks to Neerja's vivid descriptions and storytelling prowess.

Neerja has a talent for introducing and developing characters, making them all feel real and relatable. I especially loved Rosa's supportive friend, who adds depth and richness to the story. Rosa's ex and her present partner as well as her boss were also intriguing characters who added important layers to the plot. I think the personality of her parents was very useful to understand Rosa's character.

The way Rosa's transformation, or her attempts at it, were portrayed was beautiful. Neerja skillfully delves into the complexities of the human mind, especially how childhood family drama can leave lasting scars that are difficult to forget. It's something that many readers can relate to, making the protagonist all the more relatable.

"Eternally Single" is a wonderful piece of work by Neerja Pawar. It's a heartwarming and captivating story that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an enjoyable and uplifting read. Neerja's storytelling is truly a work of art.

"Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez" by Neerja Pawar is an absolute gem of a rom-com, offering a lighthearted and heartwarming journey into the world of Rosa Álvarez, a physiotherapist leading a double life.

Rosa's story is a delightful mix of two contrasting lives. On the surface, she appears to be a respectable physiotherapist living in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, complete with all its famous quirks. But beneath this facade lies a side of Rosa that's her mother's worst nightmare.

The beauty of this book lies in its delightful simplicity and its ability to take you on a rollercoaster of emotions without ever taking itself too seriously. The plot is a brilliant blend of humor, romance, and the age-old challenge of maintaining a dual identity. As Rosa's past reemerges in the form of a notorious figure, and she continues to cross paths with a charming yet annoying actor, her world turns delightfully chaotic.

One of the standout elements in the book is Samuel Jackson, not the Avenger, defines the concept of a perfect book boyfriend. He's sweet, humble, and a ray of sunshine in Rosa's life, even when their initial interactions are far from ideal. Their journey from loathe to love is heartwarming and beautifully crafted.

The book also delves into the power of gossip columns and how they can impact people's lives negatively. It sheds light on the relentless curiosity of fans and the importance of setting boundaries and respecting the privacy of public figures, reminding us that they are humans too.

Additionally, "Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez" introduces readers to the concept of a professional cuddler, a profession that may or may not exist but offers a unique perspective on human connection and the need for comfort and companionship.

In summary, this book is a delightful concoction of humor, romance, and Mexican spice, courtesy of the vibrant characters and Rosa's heritage. It's a short, sweet, and laugh-out-loud funny read that's sure to leave you with a warm feeling in your heart. And if you're searching for the perfect gift for your mother, grandmother, or even yourself, look no further—this book is a wonderful choice that will brighten your day and remind you of the power of love and laughter.

QOTD:- Do you like Rom-coms?

The book, "Eternally Single, Rosa Àlvarez" written by Neerja Pawar is a beautiful, engaging and happy rom-com that filled my heart with a yellow aura just like the cover of the book! The protagonist of the story, Rosa Àlvarez works as a physiotherapist in Los Angeles. While everyone is aware of her job as a physiotherapist, nobody really knows about a secret occupation that Rosa is doing.Even her mother has no idea about her secret job of being an expert cuddler. (Even I couldn't figure it out in the beginning chapters and that kept me hooked to the end! :))

She hides about her secret job to her family because she knows her mother wouldn't ever approve her for that. Rosa even avoids long conversations with her mother because she doesn't want to lie to her but this doesn't keep her from lying more! 😂Though Rosa is a successful, intelligent, independent and a strong woman, but still she has to face the society's overbearing pressure and questions about why she's still single.

I loved Rosa's character very much. Despite her problems, she was a brave one to face all of them. She depicted a light of positivity, a ray of hope, a yellow aura.I loved the character of Rosa's mother too. Her scolds, her love, her behaviour, her humour, everything about her felt warm, cozy and comfortable. The way she cared showed her concern and missed Rosa calling her to come back home was really very soft and warm.🥺❤

Overall it's a cute, light and joyful read that will make you experience a mixture of emotions. I personally loved the book and almost every character, especially Rosa, her mother, Samuel and Juan. I would recommend this book to all the rom-com lovers.

this one hit home and dug a grave

ALSO THIS WAS AN ARC COPY WHA-
thank you, BookSirens and Saga Fiction for the review copy, all the thoughts are my own.

Rosa Álvarez is a reputable physiotherapist, or so she says. Based in Los Angeles, her job is not exactly Mexican parents' friendly, hence the elaborate lies and constant avoidance of a trip back home to Mexico, even though she loves her job. So will she be able to hide the mounting lies as old acquaintances make appearances?

The characters were diverse and engaging for most of the story (not you, Jaydn).

Rosa was infuriating but also relatable at the same time, while I admired her passion for her work, it was very painful reading her inner monologue, even if the dialogue felt a bit juvenile at times. So its safe to say she may not be my favorite protagonist of all times but I'll come around.

Samuel Jackson was as good as they can make him, and guys! he communicates, does not take shit from anyone, irrespective of his romantic feelings. AMEN. Their banter was top notch but still I felt the romance seemed to be on the back burner, I found myself wanting more of Sam and Rosa.

It was a short, predictable read with a tad bit of familial drama and literal run-ins between the love interests, with a hint of enemies to lovers—just a spec of it.
The dysfunctional family trope always makes me irrationally angry but still I find myself looking forward to how Rosa deals with them.
For someone with an aversion towards drama, this wasn't probably the best pick, but with witty banter, diverse characters that sometimes make my blood boil, it was a good read nonetheless.

p.s : I would like a Juan Morales for myself, thank you very much.

If you’re looking for a cute adorable book with a completely unique premise, pick this one up. We meet Rosa Álvarez, a “physiotherapist” residing in Los Angeles, who is actually a professional cuddler. This unique occupation is bound to pique your curiosity, paving the way for a delightful connection marked by uncommon experiences and unexpected moments.
.
Rosa's relationships, particularly with her family, are portrayed with authenticity, imbuing her story with depth and relatability. Rosa's emotional struggles during her childhood have left a lasting impact, evident in her sensitivity when interacting with people, extending beyond just romantic relationships. Not just that, her unique profession presents a formidable hurdle in building romantic connections, as she grapples with the challenge of explaining it to others. And that is why she is forced to keep her job a secret from everyone in her life. But then comes love knocking at her doorstep. How she goes from being “eternally single” to opening her heart to some trusted people around her is what makes the narrative quite interesting.
.
The book has a good plot with some great characters, a little drama and a perfect book boyfriend(make that two actually). The chemistry between the MCs and their banter make this a really amusing read. It provides a pleasant and cozy reading experience for moments when you seek solace without immersing yourself in an overly sweet book. The writing is simple and the book is a short quick one with less than 200 pages, making it perfect for romance readers who want a light-hearted fun book.

Book - Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez
Author - Neerja Pawar

The Book - "Eternally Single, Rosa Álvarez" revolves around Rosa Álvarez who leads two life, maintaining a secrecy about her job from everyone. It all happened because of an unfortunate first date incident where she excitedly blubbered all about her work, just to watch the excitement die in the guy's eyes. So, she decided to keep this part of her life a secret, specially from her mother and family, because she feared that, they will disown her. Everything was under control, until, she met Juan Morales in front of her office, whom she dated for three years but unfortunately, the relationship ended. But when they met and he asked about her job, she revealed hesitantly that she was a professional cuddler. After that incident, she haven't heard from Juan and he even hasn't shown up at the office. While she was going through all this mess, she met Samuel Jackson, who without knowing anything about her, saved her from being exposed in front of her ex-classmate. As their paths crosses, things were about to change. What will happen next? Was meeting Samuel a coincidence? Will Rosa be able to keep her two worlds separate?

This book was quite engaging. The characters are well-developed and I specially love the relation between Rosa and Eloise. A light-hearted rom-com, filled with emotions and reality of life. It was so heartwarming, that I was hooked from the beginning till the end. The little details and the depth of the story makes it worth reading. The cover of the book is really beautiful. The language used is simple. Overall, I loved the book. Highly recommended.

In the end, I enjoyed this story, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about it initially, I think because there is so much unknown in the beginning. The reader is purposely kept in the dark about Rosa’s job for quite awhile. Rosa struggles with how it would be perceived by other people, and that discomfort intentionally plays into how it is all revealed to the reader. The reader being allowed to imagine inaccurate things that would be Rosa’s fears of how her family and community would take it. Rosa’s journey to some belated self-awareness is a major component of this book, and I would say that the romance is more of a secondary plot. The romance itself is cute and interesting, even if it isn’t the primary focus of the story. The love interest as a character is fun to watch falling for Rosa, but never feels quite fully revealed as a person, even though he is the one in the relationship being open and honest, while Rosa is so closed off. I enjoyed the journey of how they met and initially got to know each other. This is not a long novel, and that may have been part of why Sam didn’t feel as fleshed out. Also, the single POV of the narrative does make it more difficult to give as much depth to other characters. Overall, it was very interesting to learn about a misunderstood and unexpected profession and I enjoyed the romance part of the story. This book has frequent strong harsh language. There is innuendo, but the story is closed door.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"Eternally Single Rosa Alvarez" is a light-hearted rom-com novel that takes readers on a quick delightful journey. With a unique storyline, well-developed characters, and a healthy blend of humor and romance, Neerja crafts a charming tale that will leave readers yearning for more.

The chemistry between the Rosa and Sam is undeniable, and their banter is sprinkled with funny dialogues, making their interactions both amusing and endearing. All the while, I was wishing for a boyfriend like Sam. Oh! Not to forget Juan. He's such a sweetheart. Juan and Eloise were the perfect couple and idols for friendship. The mouth-watering dishes from Manuel's made me crave for those.

Rosa's boss' character, though not much actively involved played her part well and intrigues the narrative. Each character is distinctly portrayed, possessing their own quirks, challenges, and misadventures. The supporting characters add an extra layer of relatability to the overall story, especially when Neerja has touched a different profession - 'Professional Cuddlers'.

Her writing style is engaging and flows effortlessly, making "Eternally Single" a quick and enjoyable read. She artfully balances moments of lightheartedness with poignant reflections on the complexities of Rosa's nature, allowing readers to effortlessly connect with the characters' emotional journeys. However, there were certain chapters that I felt could've been explored more.  More of Sam and Rosa's relationship could've been narrated. I'd have loved to read that.

Overall, this delightful book is perfect for anyone seeking a feel-good relaxing story.
