"The Holy Spirit will help them do it. He will help them not be afraid. He will help us tell others about Jesus too. And He will help us to not be afraid."

"Jesus is dying on the cross. He came to earth to do this. That's because He loves us so much. Jesus wants us to love with God in heaven. When we sin, we can't go to heaven. There must be some way to take away our sin."

Even too simple of a message for my granddaughters to grasp meaning. Wish it had a bit more details about the important events of the Bible.

Very good but skips a lot. Maybe it fulfills the purpose. For that purpose, it should be 4-5 stars, perhaps.

This Bible was a disappointment to my husband and I.

We found the illustrations to be unengaging to inconsistent, while the story telling was equally poor. For example, the story "God sends special food" reads: "Moses and his people are in a desert. There are no stores in the desert. There are no gardens or fields. There are no vineyards. There is no food at all.'We're hungry!' the people say. You can see why they are hungry, can't you?" Yet the four people in the illustration are standing on grass, with one on a rock. A little frog, small turtle, spider and mouse are around the rock and a flower beside the rock. Further illustrations in this story feature puffy chickens, a domesticated dog, a passing dove and a goat, all perched on beautiful green grass!

Positives are that this Bible includes some stories that we haven't seen elsewhere such as Samson. The index in the back of "Bible Doctrines Learned in the Preschooler's Bible" and "Character Values in the Preschooler's Bible" lead the parent to hope for great things, but even these upon examination seem elementary to downright convoluted. For example, in Bible Doctrines (28 headings!) we read: "[Heading:] God keeps His promises [Item:] When God promises something, He will do it... pages 40-43". Really? That's it? In the whole Bible? Under Character Values (20 headings)... the following appears: "[Heading:] Faithfulness [Item:] Daniel was faithful to God. He would not eat the wrong food. We should be faithful to God. Don't do what is wrong."

First of all, I think there are a lot more stories that can teach these concepts (of God keeping His promises and of Faithfulness). Second of all, I don't see the benefit of one reference. In both cases, I could have thought of a story myself and told it to my child in such a way as to demonstrate the principle. This is not helpful to me as a parent. Finally, the idea of listing doctrines and values is a good one, but concepts are too numerous, redundant, and in some cases, not age appropriate. I already referenced FAITHFUL above, but the Values section also includes obedience. What is the difference? One or the other (probably obedience for a preschooler) would suffice. In the doctrine section an easy concept to identify as inappropriate for age is "God has special plans for us". I don't think my child can understand the idea of a plan and consulting the listed pages to read the story of God's gift of Esau and Jacob to Isaac and Rebekah isn't clearing it up for me.

I would LOVE to see a preschoolers Bible that focuses on about 8 doctrines appropriate to their age (God loves you, We need to obey God, We need God's forgiveness for when we don't obey, God is faithful, etc), and about 5 or less character traits (obedience, kindness, forgiveness, etc.). I would love to see a series of Bible stories presented in a way that emphasize these few, simple, age appropriate concepts. This is not that book, and I have returned ours along with it's companion Toddler Bible that I bought as a gift.

Those looking for excellent Bible material should consult Ella Lindvall's "Read Aloud Bible Stories", "The Jesus Storybook Bible" by Sally Lloyd-Jones, Zonderkidz "The Read with Me Bible", or Kenneth N. Taylor's "Classic Bible Storybook".

Featuring 101 short stories, The Toddler's Bible is a treasure-trove of easy-to-read Bible stories told in a simple manner that will appeal to young listeners, aimed towards ages one to three. Although initially published in 1992, this version of the Toddler's Bible has been given a new cover and artwork to connect with a new generation of toddlers today. Many stories are featured, all the way from the story of Adam and Eve to Noah, Moses, David & Goliath, Queen Esther and, of course, Jesus. Not only does the Bible have a handy table of contents in the front, but at the end of the Bible is a list of "character values" and the pages on which to find them, such as the ability to look up stories about giving, bravery, or friendship.

The Toddler's Bible is a great addition to the Bibles available to families today. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, sure to captivate your toddler's attention. Although the stories themselves are simply told, the pictures bring out greater details in the story and allow you to engage the listener by asking them what they see. Something I really appreciated about the Bible is that it doesn't gloss over the most important event of the Bible, Jesus dying on the cross, as some other Bibles for young readers do, although it keeps the story simple without details that would frighten a young listener. At the scene of Jesus dying on the cross, toddlers will hear that "Jesus wants to help us live with God in heaven. When we sin, we can't go there. But Jesus died to take away our sin. He wants to be our Saviour. He will if we ask. Will you ask Him?" What a beautiful description of what God has done for us, and a great invitation to lead your child to trust in him!

The greatest endorsement I can share is that my children literally begged me to keep reading the stories in this Bible, wanted "more, Daddy, more!". I highly recommend this Bible and give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I think the stories really may only be two or three pages long with a sentence or two on each page. We taught from an early age that our children could sit through longer stories. This is fun for quick stories and maybe looking at the pictures which are not my favorite at all but my kids do get what is happening.

The stories were not very well written and the illustrations insufferable. We returned this book. There are a lot of other children's Bible's that are really wonderful, this is not one of them.

Alaina chose this book to read. She likes looking at the pictures while I read the stories.
