A great audiobook because you get to hear Zieglar's warm southern accent and kind heart. It starts out with a humorous Texan version of what fans of Hindu mythology may recognize as a swayamvar.

Quotes:
=================

"Motivation is not permanent, but then neither is bathing."

"Positive thinking won't let you do anything, but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will."

"You've got to have a plan. Unless you have definite, precise, clearly defined goals, you will not realize the maximum potential that lies within you. And this applies to every aspect of your life."

7 Kinds of Goals:
----------
physical
financial
spiritual
career
family
mental
social

These 7 goals have several characteristics:
---------------------------------
1. To be effective they must affect change. Thinking big creates the excitement necessary for accomplishment

2. You must have some long-range goals so that short-range frustrations don't stop you

3. If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer…. and not as a doer.

4. Your goals must be specific

"Often the difference between the great and the near-great is the awareness that making it big means working everyday towards our long-range objectives."

"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are generally right."

"Einstein once said that it takes 11 correct inputs to overcome 1 incorrect input."

"Alan Bean, one of the astronauts who walked on the moon, told me that the astronauts on their way to the moon and back… were listening to motivational recordings... And what a delight it is for me to be able to say that some of the recordings they were listening to were fantastic."

"You need to listen at least 16 times in order to get the complete message. Listen to it over and over again; it will become a part of you."

"You probably have been in the process of making decisions right now. As you listen you will make those decisions. But as you listen over and over the decision changes to commitment. And once you make the commitment, you will seek the training which will make the difference because that means behavior changes. And when you change behavior, then you start developing winning habits."

"All you have to do is practice winning habits long enough, and you will become a winner."

Steps to a winning attitude

2. Learn to look for the good in every situation and every person
3. Greet people properly
4. Identify the "Go" lights of life for what they really are
5. Take care of your health
6. Daily feed your mind with the good, the clean, the pure, the powerful, and the positive
7. Take time to be quiet & recharge batteries
8. Spend time with those you love

"Expectations in life are so important... You see, you find in life what you are looking for."

"If you want to change your life, you have to do it immediately and you want to do it flamboyantly."

"Success is not measured by comparing yourself to others. It's measured by how you do compared to what you could have done with the ability you have."

Motivation is not permanent.

Positive thinking cannot do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking ever will. If you want to change your life, you have to do it immediately and flamboyantly. Training is what makes winning habit as many people are conditioned to lose.

Great advice. Listened to this on audio like most of my books, I think it added to the experience listening to how passionate the author was. Will get to more Ziglar books later on.

GOALS. The book emphasizes making long-term goals specific and visualized for every area of life, arguing that clarity prevents small daily problems from becoming overwhelming. The real value of achieving goals is in the person one becomes during the process, not just the outcome. Success is defined as maximizing one's own potential and effort, rather than comparing oneself to others, shifting the focus to personal growth and integrity.
MOOD AND ATTITUDE. The book suggests positivity can be a deliberate choice and even proposes deciding years in advance to maintain a good mood daily, regardless of circumstances, making optimism feel more practical than idealistic. Harsh words from others reflect their own struggles and are not personal.
BODY AND HEALTH. The analogy of treating the body like a million-dollar racehorse is both memorable and persuasive, urging careful self-care for higher achievement. The statistic that every cigarette shortens life by 14 minutes delivers a blunt shock. The book champions self-improvement literature not just for strategy but for its power to spark imagination.
TIME AND DAILY HABITS. Plan TV viewing ahead instead of zoning out passively. The notion that each hour mirrors the day, and each day reflects a life, encourages awareness that small choices accumulate into long-term outcomes.
WORK AND SUCCESS TRAITS. The book reveals that successful people often have balanced family lives, stay with their first spouse, have multiple children, and consistently work over 50 hours a week. It adds that giving one's best effort in even the least favorite job is a reliable method for unlocking better future opportunities.
LIFE DIRECTION. The metaphor of setting sails to stay the course despite uncontrollable winds makes the pursuit of personal direction vivid, emphasizing consistent adjustment over external control.

In thie program Zig Ziglar offers interesting anecdotes and good life advice for dealing with people and your own personal attitude toward your life and goals. It's not long at all...in a way it's a very condensed version of "See You at the Top"..but it actually has a few more details of some of the stories. In listening to Zig Ziglar you'll probably notice a lot of the programs are probably recorded from his live events so many of them have the same stories or jokes, but there's almost always new little tidbits to be learned. I also noticed it doesn't hurt to listen multiple times as I take away new things each time.

One thing to keep in mind...one part when he's giving statistics about successful people..citing that most have a mother and father and aren't divorced...don't lose heart if you're one of the many people who came from a broken home or are divorced. I would think he would have included that statement but he seemed to have left it out when citing the statistics.

Overall..recommended if you want to learn the invaluable tools for dealing with difficult life situations and people.

If you really want to learn what it takes to be a winner, this is the audiobook you should listen to.

Excellent audio material for your children to listen also, if they learn this concepts early in life they will learn what they need to do on a regular basis in order to excel in whatever they choose to do.

Like what late Ziglar said, we will need to listen over and over it again for 16 times to get it stick to us.

This is typical Zig, with his entertaining - yet educational - imparting of wisdom. I received a couple of valuable nuggets that grabbed my attention that I will begin to employ immediately. There was a couple other good "food for thought" items that I need to chew on, new information I had not heard before. Some was material I have heard from his other newer works that I recognized.

Some great stories (especially the opening one), but I found it difficult to remember his points. Application is always the most challenging part.
