I don't think that anyone has failed to notice that Ana Ashley is one of my favorite authors. With this one she's trying something new, and I'm here for it. As far as MMM goes, this is up there among my favorites.
I adored Jake, Griff and Mal. All three of them just fit together. They felt equal even though Jake is joining Griff and Mal when they already are an established couple. I loved how they worked things out, talked and genuinely cared for each other.
Are you in the mood for a sweet, very sexy MMM book? This is the one for you, no doubt.
This was an interesting and fun ménage romance set on an island resort and involving a great cast of characters and a solid sense of place.
Although the narrative felt a bit jerky at times, overall the storyline itself felt like it progressed at a great pace and with accurate reflections of the feelings of each of the three men involved.
I liked the dynamics between Mal and Griff as a pair, and then the way they expanded their behaviour to bring Jake in also worked well. I never felt a sense of third wheel or just a bit on the side from them.
There's also great communication throughout the book, thankfully no silly dramady from misunderstandings or lack of conversation, I also appreciated that the major plot points were more related to outside effects or pressures and weren't just relationship mess-ups.
It's ridiculously steamy too, at times perhaps a bit too much, but there's also some great conversations and just couple/throuple time where they're connecting in other ways outside of sex.
The surrounding cast of characters are really well drawn out, as is the setting, it felt like a solid, real place that you could sense the family feeling of those involved in the business and I adored Jake's Uncle Frank and his cousin Gabe.
Speaking of, he's the subject of the next installment, although I believe that may be a newsletter serial rather than a book (would need to confirm that) and I'm looking forward to seeing how Ana makes that potential threesome different to this one.
#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review
You know those "stuff your e-reader day"-books? Yeah lmao. This is one of those. I honestly really liked it! If not for the rough start, I might have ended up loving it too. However, the very beginning of the book set the tone for me, in a negative way. Explanation: The rest of the book was kind of sweet, I loved to follow their progression and communication, and the smut was good.
For her first MMM, Ana hit it out of the park! I've read quite a few MMM books, including several with an already established couple, and not every author is able to get the feelings of each person right. Ana did it perfectly. I may be a bit biased, since I had something to do with how this story came about in the first place, but the way Ana put it together in her usual fabulous writing style was all her. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

DNF 60% Everything I liked about this is either rushed or off-page. And for more than half this book it feels very much like a third-wheel situation. Not for me. YMMV.
Wowzers! This was hot, hot, hot. Also, so super sweet. Mal and Griff are a married couple who are completely and utterly in love with each other. Griff has always been polyamorous, and while he had been with Mal only up until this book, I loved how it was known and part of who Griff is right from the beginning. When the two of them meet Jake, they both have an instant attraction, and they decide together that they want to act on it. This felt honest to me. All three guys made sure to communicate, and the author didn't shy away from having the characters experience confusion, jealousy, or fear of being a "third wheel". I loved watching them fall for each other, and I loved Uncle Frank. I am very much looking forward to reading Zak, Sam, and Gabe's book.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by the author

Fine I guess but incredibly forgettable. None of the characters felt remotely realistic, much of the dialogue felt strange and forced, none of the emotions felt real either, and even for this sort of heightened reality book none of it felt grounded in true emotions. Some of the sex scenes were kinda hot so there is that. I’m unlikely to wait for the sequel, and will be hesitant about returning to this author.
Ana Ashley is one of my favorite authors and this book show us her talent and how twisted her mind works. For a first MMM story she went amazing with it
I loved Jake, Griff and Mal and how all three of them just fit together. Once again it's an amazing plot and I can't wait to read the next book form this new series
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Read for a group challenge and because triple M is always good. Straight forward adding of a third. Easy to see who the problem would be. I liked the rabbits with their advice. Soft fun with an age gap and sex. The next trio sounds adorable.

A wonderful, low angst read. Following Jake, Mal, and Griff on their journey to a functioning relationship as a trio was a joy. Plus, it takes place in a resort. Holidey feelings are included in this read. I also loved the bunnies :-). I'm the translator of this book, so I had a free copy.
Silly, nice... Jake (29, & nearly completed his MBA) has a summer job at the resort, where Mal, a resort manager & Griff, an indie author, attract his attention. Ooooh they have a glorious one-night stand... And 6 months later, Mal is assigned to, & relocates, with Griff, to the Resort where they both met Jake - who we now find out is the nephew of the OWNER of the resort :) Obvious outcome :) & a nice poly story.
The Resort is a well written, low angst mmm romance that brings an established couple together with another man they meet at the resort. Mal and Griff have been married for two years and are blissfully happy together but when are checked in by Jake to the resort, there's no denying the attraction that they both feel for him and Griff has always been open about being polygamous. When Jake is in their room cleaning and they walk in, the spark ignites. Months later, they're reunited when Mal and Griff move to the island when Mal is sent to be the new resort manager and Jake is back, wanting to work for his uncle's resort and make use of new MBA. No one has stopped thinking about the other in the months since their time together and when they find out how close they'll be working and living, it's hard to deny what they all want. From the start, it's easy to feel this attraction and connection that simmers between the three men. I could feel the deeper bond between Mal and Griff but it doesn't take long for Jake to work his way into their hearts. An earthquake is what ultimately brings them together with such a big event having an impact, mostly on Mal and Jake who were both unsure having never felt anything like this for two men at the same time. There is a lot of sweetness but an equal about it best between the men who are not afraid to say or show what they want. Friends and family are a big part of the story as well, especially Jake's as it's his uncle who is the big boss of the resort it is also more like a father to him. There is also his relationships with his cousin, Gabe, and best friend, Zak, who are supportive and loving throughout, even when they don't know all of what's going on. I'm definitely hoping to hear more from them in the future. Then there is the staff of the resort who are treated more like family which is such a great notion. There is a little angst towards the end of the story but I think that it brings everything together really well and shows off everyone's best aspects. Another great romance from Ana and I love the way you can feel the connection between the three MC's of the story, right from the start. Definitely a recommended read with, hopefully, more to come soon. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I love menages, Ana wrote this beautifully, well developed characters, a nasty person, low angst, humour and family. Explosive chemistry between Mal, Griff and Jake just how I love it. Heartwarming. Another keeper.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this story.
The Resort is the first book in the Room for 3 series by Ana Ashley. It's the story of Mal & Griff, a married couple and Jake. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, hot, fun, full of feels and very well written. It's so good I couldn’t put it down. I really recommend it.
It was OK but pretty forgettable, which is a bit ironic considering one of the MCs is a romance author. There were plenty of genre cliches and not a lot of originality in the characters, plot or threesome dynamic. There was insta-love, the usual self doubts of a third dating an established couple, the expected crisis and the predictable homophobic villain. And something was just not working in the sex scenes. They were either too short or overly cheesy. I'm probably not going to read the next book in the series.
Even as fast as I read, there is no way to read everything that comes out right away, so I tuck books away on my TBR until I have a break and time to enjoy them. I honestly don't review everything I read, but once again I feel compelled to tell you about The Resort by Ana Ashley that I grabbed off my TBR pile this weekend! Check out why I gave it 5 Stars:
*4.25 Stars* Ana Ashley admits that her diverting MMM romance The Resort arose from a writing challenge: Use a photo of a box of condoms and a can of Lysol as the basis for a story. The initial chapter of The Resort reflects that “forced” context because it has a bit of a forced feel to it. The serialized nature of the story does not improve on that. Ms. Ashley originally released The Resort in single chapter installments through her weekly newsletter. That “choppiness” probably adds to the lack of context and cohesion.
When The Resort begins, there’s apparently an undeniable pull between Jake, Mal, and Griff. However, we don’t have context for it, … yet. Jake inexplicably freezes like a deer in the headlights when Mal and Griff find him in their hotel room retrieving the aforesaid can of Lysol. They lasciviously advance on him and Jake offers no resistance. He’s fighting himself we’re told. However, his resolve is paper-thin and crumbles with a glance and a grope from Mal and Griff.
Putting that aside, the first chapter scene is hot as hell. So are the subsequent steamy MMM and MM scenes between these three men. Additionally, the story settles in after the first few chapters which allow the relationship between Jake, Mal, and Griff to develop more organically and less abruptly.
Ms. Ashley displays versatility in her writing throughout The Resort. It really lends itself to the fluid dynamic of the story and the three men in it. She balances the triad relationship without attention skewed towards two of the men at the expense of the third. Ms. Ashley set herself up with the additional challenge of introducing a third (Jake) to an established marriage (Mal and Griff). As such, her deft handling and ultimate achievement of a holistic poly relationship between Jake, Mal and Griff are notable.
Aspects of the story lack some plausibility, but not egregiously. Further, it’s easy to suspend disbelief because of how engaging these three men are. Jake, Mal, and Griff are complex, intriguing men with individual emotional challenges. However, they each are dedicated to finding their way through them to be better for the other two. Additionally, in keeping with the tone Ms. Ashley typically conveys in her stories, The Resort is equal parts sweet, sexy, warm, and fluffy. While there’s angst, it’s pretty low level.
The Resort succeeds to the greatest extent in harmonizing three very different men, in age, personality, background, and experience. We see Jake, Mal, and Griff become a cohesive romantic unit. Yet at the same time, the story respects their individualities while simultaneously showcasing the beautiful triad they form.
If you are looking for a sexy, feel-good read with some emotional dynamics but nothing too angsty, and you are open to the MMM premise, I encourage you to give The Resort a read.
I don’t know what it is about Ana Ashley’s books but her writing is almost soothing. She doesn’t put in any extraneous facts that make you wonder what is happening and that you have to keep track of details in the story for it to make sense, but she includes enough of them to make it easy to read, to keep it moving, and to make it lush and exciting. This is how I felt about her latest book The Resort: Room for 3. This is the story of Mal, the manager of the Silver Sands Resort on La Catarina Island, California; Mal, his husband and a romance writer; and Jake, the nephew of the owner of the resort. They first meet when Mal is interviewing for the job of manager but he doesn’t know who Jake is and the 3 of them have an encounter. They return 6 months later to begin the job and find Jake who has just finished his MBA and hopes to work for his uncle. They hadn’t forgotten each other and had an instant attraction that continued and smoldered when they met again. The story continues from there. It took a while for Jake to feel he wasn’t a 3rd wheel and was part of the relationship and he had to come to terms with his past and how his present related to it. They all felt they needed to keep it a secret for now as they didn’t know how people would react, especially Jake’s uncle. Then throw in an earthquake which affected the characters personally and had consequences for the resort, and some people they thought were friends but kept challenging their authority and ideas that finally comes to a head and you have the suspense and angst you want in a great book. There were also interesting side characters whose interactions with the main characters helped you understand what they were feeling and their actions. I also loved her description of the resort and the people who worked there as it gave me a sense of what it would be like to have a job there, and her descriptions of the island made me feel like I was there. She fully developed the characters and has a way with love scenes that makes them varied and different but also show the love between them. I have read many of Ms. Ashley’s books and this one is definitely one of my favorites. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
This relationship is built on physical chemistry and an emotional intensity that comes entirely from “love at first sight”— the characters somehow have deep feelings for each other before the book begins, even though they only officially meet (and hook up) in the first chapter. There’s definitely plenty of steam to the story, and some emotional turmoil as well, but if you’re looking for the slow, gradual development of feelings between three people, this isn’t that book. If you want instalove with a bit of angst, this is for you. For me, the relationship sometimes felt a bit “too much, too soon,” but I give the author full credit here for conveying the intensity of not just the characters’ attraction to each other but also their feelings for each other. Griff, Mal, and Jake each bring unique perspectives to their relationship, and it’s good to see them weather their challenges and get their HEA. All three of them are lovely in their own ways, but I think Griff, the romance novelist and eternal optimist, is my favorite. As a bonus, the supporting characters are (with the exceptions of the villains, of course) interesting, well developed, and kind hearted, and the resort mentioned in the title seems like an almost idyllic place for the characters to to call home— great environment, adorable wildlife, and more.
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was my first book by the author and also my first MMM story and I really enjoyed it, I loved the dynamics between Griff and Mal and how they felt attracted to Jake from the start, all of their interactions were nice to read and the story was enjoyable from the first chapter, especially their steamy scenes and how they all navigated their feelings and this new passionate and secret relationship between them.
The setting of the story also was a plus, the workers at the resort were all friendly and they welcomed Griff and Mal from day one. I also loved how the relationship between them started growing, Jake had never been with 2 people at once so it was nice reading his experiences with both of them and how they always found ways to get creative in the bedroom🤭 Their scenes together were really hot sometimes and I loved how at the end they admitted their feelings and they finally got the chance to be all together in front of their family and friends.
The side characters were amazing too, Jake had a great relationship with his uncle and cousin and I loved how close they were and how Jake’s uncle always supported him. Gabe was nice too and I can’t wait to read his own book and see what happens between him, Sam and Zak.
I really enjoyed this story. The pacing from the second chapter set 6 months after the first/prologue was really good, and I loved the relationship between Mal and Griff, and how they both fell for and wanted to bring Jake into their life; from the moment they decided to all be together, Jake never felt like a third wheel as it was clear how much they all cared about each other. The pacing was good, and there was some drama throughout that made the story a really interesting read. It’s very insta-love (with just a little bit of hesitation on Jake’s side), so if you like that you’ll probably like this.
The novel’s biggest weakness, unfortunately, is in the opening chapter. There was no buildup, everything moved really quickly, and it felt a bit rushed. It honestly took me by surprise; I realise that a hookup without much time getting to know each other was sort of essential to the plot line of the story, but I still feel like it could’ve been expanded on a little bit at least. This is Ana’s first MMM story though, so I guess maybe she was finding her feet with writing a different kind of dynamic? If you push through the awkwardness that is this first encounter though, you’re in for a great story, and I had lot of fun reading it!
This poly romance is as sizzling hot as it is full of heart. And with sun, surf, and sexy times - times three, "The Resort" is the perfect sudsy summertime beach read.
An impulsive one-time summer fling - a first for all three men - proves not enough, as Jake is the missing piece married couple Mal and Griff didn't know they needed. The red hot attraction, chemistry and love between them is palpable, and all three are such genuine and caring men that one can't help but root for their shared happiness.
Becoming a throuple is not without some mild angst, though, since they're all navigating uncharted waters, plus there's a no-fraternization work rule to contend with. Their HEA is sweet and almost understated in a way - like this story, it's as much about family as it is the three of them - and left me smiling.
I'm glad to see this book is the start of a new poly-themed series, and am already looking forward to the next steamy excursion to the island. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)
